Installation 6: Their First Integrated Classes

Alright so last time I ended off without being able to tell you about their lunch period. Here I go:

Lunches during that first week were spent on guard. They all sat outside, underneath a beautiful weeping cherry tree. It was a little ways off the path people took to head out to the sports field in the back of the school. It was always Vik's spot for lunch, and so no one ever really went there. Well, except three people. Hope, the first of those three, always floated over there at some point. Vik often let her sit with him, and now the hybrids too. They grew an interesting bond with Hope. It was something of mutual interest: she was interested in their stories and they were interested in her kind ways. The other two who would bother the group were Lachlan and Mitch. Lachlan was always there early in the lunch period, begging Vik to listen. Vik would always grumble and tell him off. Lachlan's blue eyes would then meet Hope, who would shake her head. She never speaks on why it was they seemed to have a bond. I just suppose she knew everything about everyone. After Hope's response, he would sigh and say goodbye to the hybrids. They never understood Vik's hatred for Lachlan: he seemed nice. But Vik refused to speak of the blond, and Hope would tell the hybrids that they shouldn't concern themselves with the pair's past. Right before the bell to end lunch, as the hybrids and the two humans began to head inside, Mitch would arrive. He'd begin to spew words at the hybrids; he'd often swing around his gun too. Hope would always intercept at this point, distracting the bad-boy enough for the hybrids to escape with Vik. No more is said on Mitch, or what he did to the poor girl. However, Vik would simply drop the hybrids back off at Mr. Minter's room and run off again.

Alrighty, now onto today's topic: the hybrids' first intergraded classes. I don't think I need to list off exactly what happened in every class, it's not really that important. However, I can give you some general highlights of what happened during that first day. Basically, I'll tell you what's important.

In Pete's first period, he met Rosie. She's one of the authors I am studying, and she took in the slime hybrid as her lab partner. In Choco's first period, he was absolutely terrified. Seeing as he shared the class with Mitch, Mitch automatically went after the poor shaky hybrid. Just as Mitch went to pull out his gun to torment the hybrid, Lachlan arrived to class. Lachlan was quick to stop Mitch, throwing him away from Choco. It isn't completely known, but it's suspected that the teacher walked in before Lachlan could recoil from Mitch's words.

In Preston's second period, he wasn't required to change out. Instead, he quickly dropped off his books into his gym locker and rushed back out to greet the teacher. However, on his way out, Preston heard Mitch beginning to attack another boy. Preston rushed out, being stopped by a sweet girl. When he told her what had happened, she rushed to tell the teacher. This was Rosie, saving the day again. In Jerome's second period, he found Hope to be there. She was quick to guide him into the course, Jerome loving the course. However, the tall blond that is known as Lachlan was also there. Lachlan had begun to bother Hope in a secretive manner. Jerome was quick to make a noise at Lachlan, noticing he was upsetting Hope.

In Preston and Pete's third period history, they found that the occupant of the third seat at their table was not there. Later on in the period, the boy came hobbling in, hood over his head. When Pete asked what was wrong, he simply got silence. In the same class, Choco and Kenny shared a separate table alone. In this time, Kenny gained Choco's trust and got the poor shaky hybrid to relax a little bit. I can't help but wonder how; it isn't really obvious to me. In Mat and Jerome's third period, they sat with Lachlan and Vik, respectively. Mat had been quite nervous at the beginning of the period, however Lachlan was quick in gaining his mutual acceptance. It didn't mean Mat liked the blond- he was trusting Vik's judgement on him- but he accepted that they needed to work together in this class. Jerome and Vik worked quite well together, every so often Jerome would grumble about how it didn't make sense. And when the time had come to grab something of a specific color, Jerome had to ask Vik what that color looked like.

In their fourth period, Preston, Pete, and Choco shared a survival class with Kenny. They spent most of the period clinging to each other or going to Kenny for some form of guidance. It brought attention to Kenny, but he tried his best to ignore the stares. In Jerome's fourth period, he shared a table with Rob. The boy still had his hood over his head, but he would speak whenever Jerome asked him questions about what to do or how something worked. Throughout the whole period, though, Jerome kept turning around and catching Mitch staring at him with a maniacal smirk from his separate table with Lachlan.

In their fifth period, nothing really significant happened. The only notable thing is that Mat and Rob bonded slightly during their shared class. Well, that and Kenny and Choco were partners in their first aid class. That's only important for later on, when they get to the CPR segment of the class. Yup, I'll let your minds wander with that one.

In their sixth period gym, Pete, Choco, and Jerome had a slight run-in with Lachlan- literally. The blond hadn't necessarily done anything wrong, but Choco had accidently run into Lachlan while he wasn't paying attention. The taller boy offered the trembling hybrid a hand to help him up, but Choco recoiled back. He had assumed he would be hit. When Lachlan squatted down to promise him that he wasn't upset, Jerome arrived and swept Choco up. He then snarled at Lachlan, who quickly stepped back and apologized to them.

Next came their lunch period, which wasn't much different than before their integration with the humans. The only difference was that Rosie had come over to eat with them outside, bringing with her Brigitte. The hybrids didn't really know Brigitte, but Vik knew she was trustworthy from past experience. I'll talk about that another time. Nonetheless, I think it important that I bring up a point: Brigitte might as well have been Lachlan's sister. The two had grown up together, and Lachlan had a tendency to call her sis. Moving forward, the two girls were very kind to the hybrids. They always said nice things to them, and they gave the whole group a happier, more comfortable vibe. Pete absolutely loved them for this fact, often getting into avid conversations with Brigitte or Rosie. This was, of course, in between Lachlan's visit and Mitch's visit. During Lachlan's visit that first day, his blue eyes met Brigitte before they made their way to Hope. He had addressed her as sis, and asked what she was doing there. She gave only a short response of "eating lunch" before she looked away. At this point, he eyes met Hope's- as per usual- and he left with the same greeting as the past week. During Mitch's visit, however, Brigitte and Rosie's presence caused quite the ruckus. Mitch attacked Rosie, amidst the charge something came out about getting him in trouble that morning. Rosie was quick to divert his attack, Hope grabbing the gun he had drawn. Vik rushed the hybrids back into the cafeteria, but not before a cry of pain- way too feminine for their comfort- filled the tense outside air.

In Preston and Choco's seventh period, they shared a lab table. They were sat at the back of the class, with the hooded Rob at the table in front of them. This gave the two hybrids the perfect view to watch as Mitch walked into the classroom. Adorned with a busted lip and a wide smirk, he smiled sickly at the hybrids before sitting down next to Rob. He slapped the boy upon his back, causing his whole body to recoil forward. Preston and Choco tried their best not to look their way for the rest of the period. In their seventh period language, Jerome and Mat were sat at a table with none other than Lachlan. Mat spent the whole period kicking Jerome whenever his small rumbles of anger were audible, trying to keep him out of trouble. Lachlan spent the period working as he was meant to, not bothering the hybrids one bit. Mat was thankful for that, because Jerome was ready to pounce.

Mat finished off his day accompanied by Kenny, finding him to be quite interesting to talk to. He always had a different perspective of everything, and Mat loved any new kind of information. Choco finished off school sharing a table with Hope. Hope was always very kind around him, explaining to him anything he struggled with. It was usually just coming up with words that he didn't know, making it quite easy. At a nearby table to them, Rosie and Rob shared a table. They spent the whole period talking, writing in between sentences. Choco let his attention drift to them every so often, but not too much. The reason for this was the large bruise around Rosie's eye. While doing so, Choco couldn't help but notice that Hope had bruises around her neck. He was worried for his friends, but he tried to not think about it.

Wow, I got a lot written really quickly today. The detention bell just rang, so I'll see ya next time. Peace out!
