Installation 3: Introductions to the characters (cont...)
Welcome back to a waste of your time and life! Woohoo! Today, featuring the human characters of this tale! Wooo! I am so sorry for that, I'm just in a mood. We've all had those moods. Anyways, back to the story at hand. Last installation- because I haven't the slightest idea of what to call these- you met the hybrids that I and many others owe our lives and futures to. This installation, however, you will meet the main humans they dealt with. There are only five of them, so it shouldn't be all that difficult to remember all of the characters.
The first human they met is Vik, whose full name is Vikram Barn. From what I've researched, he was from Britain and definitely sounded the part. He was darker skinned than what you'd imagine, and he had short, black hair. He was not a very popular student; however he was a greatly feared boy. His classmates never angered him. Well, all accept one. We can get into him next. No one ever upset Vik, and if they did they apologized immediately. Vik could snap a neck without batting an eye. He was terrifying when he was irritated, and so he was allowed to be the nerd no one touched. It hadn't always been that way, but I'll have more fun if I don't tell you why yet. For now, just know that he had his weaknesses. He was also very pro-equality when it came to hybrids. So thanks a lot Vik, at least you believe in us.
The next human that you'll need to know is Lachlan. His full name was Lachlan Power; and he was every girl's dream. He was tall, with an Australian accent that only made it worse. He had wispy blond hair and bright blue eyes. From the accounts, every boy wanted to be him and every girl wanted to be with him. And despite this, the only person he wanted never seemed to want him back. And so he turned to driving the poor boy mad, from constant staring to frequent signs of affection. But he had made a mistake, and no matter what he did the other never believed it was only a misunderstanding. That other boy was Vik, but I'll tell you all about their past at a later time. The only thing I'll tell you now is that Lachlan always had a ring on his right hand, and Vik refused to look at it. Other than that, just remember that Vik couldn't trust Lachlan, and Lachlan just wanted his trust. It's important later on.
The next important human you'll meet is Mitch Hughes. He was the bad boy of the school. He picked on everyone, smoked, carried a gun, and hated hybrids with a passion. It was actually pretty common for people to hate hybrids back then, but Mitch brought it to a whole new level. He was the biggest threat to the hybrids' safety, and he definitely made sure they were afraid of him. He constantly went after them, that same sickly smirk painted across his lips. Mitch Hughes was the kind of human we hybrids were raised to avoid at all costs. Mitch was the kind of human that went out of their way to try to rid the world of our existence. Despite this, however, a certain hybrid found his weak spot. Mitch changed rapidly in a short period of time, but we can get to that later. One last detail about Mitch: he wore a pair of dog tags around his neck that he wouldn't let anyone near. That's the last you'll need to know for now about Mitch.
After Mitch in our lineup comes Kenny. For some reason, I have yet to find his last name in my research, it's quite curious. Seeing as he's human, usually such records are kept in too much detail. I suppose it only adds on to Kenny's mysterious way of being. He managed to hide within the shadows at school, avoiding all eyes and words. He kept himself average and invisible. In fact, in my research, I couldn't help but notice very little is recorded on Kenny before the hybrids arrived. So, in a way, I suppose he owed his existence to Preston in more ways than one. Not much else is known about Kenny, his appearance has been lost to the waves of time. Rumor has it that he wrote an account of the hybrids' time in school, however it doesn't exist anymore. Some suggest it's been burnt, but I surely hope that's not true. I would love some first-hand accounts from him. What little I can gather about him is that he had a different way of looking at things, that he was most definitely strange. But I suppose there is no more to say about Kenny.
The final human you'll need to know is Robert Latsky- or Rob as I'll call him. Rob was bullied at school; he was the school dunce before the hybrids arrived. He was mocked and harassed; as it was rumored he was homosexual. I never understood why that was such a bad thing, but whatever. He had brown hair that he never bothered to style. He constantly wore a hoodie with the hood up, making his eyes impossible to see. He was very pale, as he never seemed to get outside. He often came off as abrasive at first, but that was simply to try to protect the person. One of the best accounts I have read was from a young girl who wrote so fondly of Rob, as the two of them were close friends. I suppose it's nice to hear he had friends; well at least he had someone before he befriended the hybrids. There isn't much more to know about Rob, except that he had an odd obsession with flowers and flower crowns. The account I spoke of earlier went into great depths about the different kinds of flowers and the different combinations that made cute flower crowns. But that should be it about Rob.
I think that's all you need to know about the characters involved in this. If all goes as planned, the next installment will be all about how their schedules worked. What classes they had when, with whom, etcetera. I think I've finally decided on calling these installments. Either way, detention is about to be over. See ya next time.
