16 weeks pregnant.

Within the past few days, Jessica has finally felt the baby wiggling around.
That of course came with many emotions. She was thrilled to feel her baby move, but she was also sad and terrified all at the same time. Constant worry has become Jessica's new norm.

On the bright side, today is an exciting day, today she and Danny are finding out the gender of their baby.

"Danny, if all goes well, I'd like to tell Autumn about the baby later."

"Really?" Danny smiled.
"How should we tell her?"

"I don't know. I think I just want to sit and talk with her. I don't want anything extravagant."

"Oh.. So no writing Big Sister in the sky?" Danny jokes.

"Well she already is a big sister, silly!"

"That's true. I was only joking. This is good! I think she'll be very happy."

"I hope so." Jessica smiles.

Jessica sat back with her hand placed on her bump as they waited to be called back.

"It's weird that I don't have to hide being pregnant here. It feels kinda nice to just relax."

Danny smiles softly then looks down and places his hand on her stomach.

"What do you think it is?" She asks him.

"Definitely a boy."

"Oh yeah?" Jessica laughs.
"How are you so sure?"

"I'm a manly man and creating little manly men is what I do best!"

"Oh jeez!" Jessica rolls her eyes.

"Jessica Lange."

"Oh that's me! Let's go, Big Guy."Jessica pats him on the leg before using it as support to stand.

"Alright, Ms. Lange, your blood pressure is a little high but--"

"What?! But I've been so careful about everything! Is the baby okay?!  Can you please check?!"

"It's okay, ma'am. Just relax." The nurse smiles sweetly.
"It's just slightly elevated. Make sure to watch your sodium intake, and don't be afraid to be active. Don't overdo it, but take a walk here and there. It'll do you good."

"Jessica is never active!" Danny chuckles.

Jessica's face turns red.
"I'll start being more active! If it helps the baby, then I promise I will!"

"Alright! Well then if there are no more questions, I'll leave you two alone. Your doctor will be with you in just a moment."

"Okay, thank you!" Jessica smiles.

A few minutes pass before the doctor makes his way in.

"Everything looks good! The baby is measuring around seventeen weeks, about a week ahead, so that's good! Are you two wanting to find out the gender today?"

"Yes!" Jessica smiles.

"Perfect! Let me just get situated, and we'll start the ultrasound shortly."

"Okay." A smile was glued onto Jessica's face.

Soon he started the scan.
Seeing the baby moving around on the monitor brought tears to Jessica's eyes.

The doctor then flicked a switch and the entire room was filled with the baby's heartbeat.

"Awww." Jessica covered her face and cried.

It was such a relief hearing that beautiful sound.

"Don't cover your eyes now, mommy!" Dr. Burke said in a baby voice.

"I'm trying to tell you I'm a little girl!"

Jessica gasped and brought her hand to her chest.

"What?!"

"You're having a baby girl!"

"What?!" Danny said.

"Haha! You were wrong, honey!"

"Damn, how'd I fuck up?"

Jessica immediately stopped talking to him and turned back to the monitor.

"Another girl! Oh Autumn will be so happy!" She smiled.

On the car ride home Jessica brought up something that really hurt her feelings.

"Danny?"

"Mhm?"

"Are you really upset that we're having a girl?"

"No, why?"

"Well you made it look that way in front of Dr. Burke. I was so embarrassed."

"Why?"

"You said, "How'd I fuck up?" That's hurtful, Danny!" Jessica cries softly.

"I meant my guess! Not the baby, honey! Of course I didn't mean the baby."

Danny stops at a red light and turns to her.

"I love our little girl! Don't you ever think otherwise."

"Really?"

"Yes babe, really!"

Jessica smiles and wraps her arms around him.

Suddenly they hear the cars behind them start honking.

"Oh Danny, the lights green!"

"Well they can fuck off! I'm hugging my woman!"

Jessica laughs and holds him even tighter.

Later that evening Sam brought Autumn home.

"Hi Princess! Did you have a fun weekend with daddy?"

"Yes! We went to the water park!"

"Wow, Awesome! Why don't you go on and take you ir stuff to your room?"

"Okay!"

Jessica giggles as Autumn runs to her room.
She then makes sure she is completely out of sight before turning to Sam.

"The baby's a girl!" She smiles.

"What?!" Sam's eyes went wide.

"That is so awesome! Congratulations!" He hugs her.

"Thank you! We're telling her tonight!"

"That's so fun! She'll be thrilled!"

"I hope so!"

"Of course she will! A baby sister? She'll be ecstatic!"

"Aw! Thanks for being so supportive, Sam. It means a lot."

"Of course! You're my girl." He smiles and playfully pinches her nose.

"Oh no! Danny's not in there listening to me call you my girl, right? Because I mean my friend!"

Jessica laughs.
"He's doing work in the bedroom."

"Oh! Okay.. Good!" He chuckles.

"Well anyway, I'll let you go celebrate your baby girl. Once again, congratulations!"

"Thank you, Sam!"

Jessica served dinner and the three sat around the table to enjoy their meal.
After everything was cleaned up, they moved over to the living room.

"That was a yummy meal, mommy!"

"Well thank you, honey! I'm glad you enjoyed it."

"Yeah, it was good, babe." Danny kisses her cheek.

Jessica smiles softly.
"So Auttie.. Danny and I have something to tell you."

"Oooh! Did you get me a present?!"

"Yeah! We did!" Jessica looks at Danny and giggles.

"What is it?!"

Jessica takes a deep breath and takes Autumn's hand in hers, "You're gonna have a baby sister."

"What?!" Her eyes went wide.

"You and Simba are gonna have a little sister!"

"Oh my gosh! Simba is gonna be a big brother! This is so cool! Are you really pregnant?!"

"I am! That's why my tummy is growing." Jessica chuckles and lifts her shirt.

"I just thought it was still round from baby brother!
I didn't know it was because of baby sister!" Autumn says before laying her head on her mother's bump.

Jessica giggles and rubs her back.
"You're happy, baby?"

"I'm SO happy, mommy!"

"Awww, Good!"

Autumn is now in bed, Danny is in the bedroom and Jessica is in Simba's room.

Jessica rocked back and forth, holding the stuffed Simba on her lap.
She pressed the paw and closed her eyes as she listened to her son's heartbeat.

"You have the most beautiful heartbeat I've ever heard, my angel."

Jessica wipes her tears and smiles softly.
"You're going to have a baby sister!  How cool is that?  Of course you already knew that, didn't you, buddy?  You're so sweet!" Jessica baby talks.

Just then Jessica sees Danny standing at the door.

"Hi baby!" She smiles.

"Who are you talking to?" He asks.

"Simba!"

"To Simba?" Danny raises an eyebrow.

"Yeah!  These little late night talks with him really help me."

"Okaayy.."

"What?"

"Nothing!" Danny pushes his thoughts to the side and smiles softly.

Jessica smiles then kisses the stuffed animal and puts it in the crib. "Night night, Simba.  Mommy loves you!"

She then walks towards the door.  She taps her finger on Danny's nose and giggles.
Danny watched her walk down the hall and thought to himself, "She's completely losing it."
