Chapter Seven: Gardening Mama's Boy
(The Next Morning)
Celestia woke up and lets her hair out of it's styled braid Isabela put it in. She puts on her favorite dress and walked outside to everyone gathered up for breakfast. Mirabel was trying to talk to Dolores about the miracle but Felix appeared behind her. It was Camilo pretending to be her. "Camilo, stop pretending that you're Dolores so you can have seconds." He went back to normal and felt defeated. "Worth a shot." He gets smacked by the opening window. "The only one that's been worried about the magic is you Mirabel. And the rats living in the walls.. oh, and Luisa. I heard her eye twitching. All night." She squeaked again and went to go sit down
Celestia sits in her seat as Abuela came out. "We're all happy for Tonito and Celestia's new gifts." Her head looks to see all of Antonio's animals sitting in her seat. Antonio gave a grin. "I told them to warm up your seat." "How kind of you, Tonito." Felix gave his son a thumbs up. Mirabel tried to talk to Luisa about what was wrong but the Casita moved her up front, closer to Abuela. Celestia ate her breakfast, fixing her pendant necklace. She decided to look at it further and she sees a message on the front. "For when you feel alone." She opened it up and it was a cute little picture of her real mom and dad holding her as a baby. It looked really wonderful.
"But now, there's an open discussion about Mariano's proposal to Isabela. Dolores, do we have a date?" Abuela asked Dolores as she listens in for something. "Tonight. He wants five babies." Isabela's face flushed a bit red as flowers popped on her head. "Wonderful. Such a perfect young man for a perfect lady." She picked off the white flower that was on there and walked on. Camilo shape shifted into Mariano to tease Isabela but she blew flower petals in his face and he spat out some. They did not taste delicious at all.
After breakfast, Celestia stayed behind to help clean up the dishes. She washed them one by one, being a responsible little girl. Abuela smiles at her and then approached her. "You're definitely something else kid. When you're done, there's a family that wants to meet you. They have a kid that I think you'd be great friends with." Celestia nodded as she continued to wash the dishes. "Of course Abuela." After she was done, she sets them up to dry and then went into the town.
The neighboring kids went up to her and congratulated her on her gift. She thanked them all before doing some quick tasks for the people that needed the help done. After that, she walks some more before arriving at the house where Abuela said they would be and knocked on the door. A woman answered the door and grinned. "Hello there. You must be Celestia. I'm Mrs. Gutierrez." She greeted her and Celestia nodded. "Is there anything around here I can help with?" She asked and Mrs. Gutierrez, her real name being Carmen, brought her to the garden. "My son always insists on doing my garden for me, never asking for help once. He's such a sweet kid."
Celestia stepped into the garden on the stepping stones and then approached the boy that was about her own age. The boy turned to her and waved. He was picking out the dirt clumps. "Hello there." Celestia puts on some gloves and decided to help. "Hey there. Your hands can't get all of this by yourself. Let me help you." With her speed, she picked out all the clumps, shakes them back out and puts them into a large bucket. Celestia runs to the forest and dumps them out there before coming back. "What's your name?" She asked him.
"It's Fernando. You must be-" He started before she finished the sentence. "Celestia Madrigal. Yeah. That is me." Celestia smiles at him as she filled up the watering can and began to water all the plants. She even got the small trees and bushes that were growing. "What do you really like most about being out here in this garden?" Celestia asked him before her eyes turned to see her sister talking to Luisa about what she knows about the miracle fading.
"I don't know. I guess I've always been a nature person. I hope you don't think it's weird for me to be doing something that girls should like." Fernando looked away as Celestia waved her hands. "Oh no no no. Not at all. You should never feel ashamed for doing something that you love doing." After they got their work done, Carmen came out to the two kids. "There you are. I got something for you both for your hard work." She had made some delicious Papaya smoothies for the both of them. Celestia takes her glass and drinks up. "Wow. This is very good Mrs. Gutierrez. Gracias!" The two went inside to get to know each other more.
"You really want to know what the first words out of my mouth were?" Celestia asked as she finished her smoothie. Fernando nodded as he finished up his own and nodded. "Mmhmm." "Well I mean I don't like to toot my own horn, but I remember them saying that I spoke all the names of my family members in one day. More so of a shorter name no less." She laughs as they went to his room and he was amazed. "Wow. That's so cool. Who did you say first?" He grabbed a book of his plants he grew himself and opened it up.
(Flashback: Celestia is 2.)
Julieta was making some arepas for later, and Celestia watched her from her high chair. She reaches for the cheese and sees there is nothing there. "Ah shoot. I knew I forgot something." Isabela walked by and looked at her mom. "What's going on Mom?" "I forgot to get some cheese for the arepas tonight. Do you mind taking Celestia for a moment while I go into town to get some? Make sure Camilo doesn't touch a thing." Isabela nodded and picked up Celestia.
Julieta went out the door and Isabela looked at her little sister. "You ready for quality time with me?" Celestia babbled a little and she rested on her. "I'll take that as a yes." She sets the bowl up high where Camilo couldn't reach it and she brought Celestia to her room and opened up the door. "Ta-da!" Celestia was amazed at the pretty purples and pinks. Isabela makes a tiny little rose for Celestia, Without the thorns of course, and puts it in her hair. "Look at you. You're growing so quickly."
"Ii..ii.." Celestia was trying to say something to her. Isabela took notice. "Hmm? Are you wanting to say something?" Then she realized it would be the first words to come out of her mouth. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh." Celestia continues to try and sound out what she wanted to say. "ii.. Ii.. Isa! Isa!" She finally spoke out a word in her mouth. Isabela had a sparkle in her eyes and she squeals in excitement in her hands. "That's it! That's me!"
Abuela was walking around the Casita when she heard the excitement. She sees Isabela comes out of her door and asked. "What's gotten the plural peps in you?" She asked in curiosity. Isabela held Celestia out and said. "She said my name." Celestia then looked at Abuela and waved her tiny hand at her. "Isa! Abuela!" Her cute voice chirped happily. Abuela gasped at this. "This is wonderful!"
"Yeah. That was the moment I truly became Isabela's favorite sibling. She would always spoil me whenever she gets the chance. She still does sometimes. Haha."
