Feeling a flash of striking pain, Sivaanya looked down to see Aravind holding her hand tightly. Her heart pained, seeing the emotional turmoil he was going through.
Those moments were one of the toughest chapters in his life. Ones he wasn't able to rewrite, ones that he was forced to bookmark and revisit, even though he was happily reading the upcoming chapters.
Sivu saw how his eyes were wide open, trying to protect those pooling tears from falling down. His teeth tortured those lips that took the burden if it made him feel stronger.
She knew she had to distract him, but she was too hesitant to implement her idea.
"Sivu, unala mudiyum! Ne oru queen!" she thought, before taking a deep breath.
She gulped and uttered, "Aravind mama."
At the speed at which Aravind turned, Sivaanya was confident he would have twisted his neck. His palm lost contact with her, which she immediately held back again. The fear in his eyes was replaced with disbelief and surprise.
"Him and his weird relationship moments. Who am I living with? Pshh!!" she thought before holding her hand and taking steps towards the entrance.
"Aiyoo, enaku shy-a iruku! Once more, please! Nee kopta podhu apdiye Antarctica ku oru chinna trip ponna madiru iruthuchu. Hehe!"
"Kopta pochu! Hello Aravind Mama! Acho oru time la enna torture panuvey, enna mama nu kopdunu!"
"Aravind ma, unaku nayabagam iruka. Oru tharava namma night enga vettu balcony la enga watchman anna kita matikitu, aprom unna seconds la bed kella thalivituten."
"Unaku athu than nayabagam irukum. Enoda kal oru rendu nallaiku red-a aiduchu."
"Na thana athuku medicine potu viten! Problem and solution rendum nanthan koduthen, so equal aiduchu!"
"Alavindu," they heard a tiny voice, making the both of them divert their attention towards the source.
At that moment, Aravind realised how Sivu had distracted him to help him enter the place that was his greatest relief and greatest trauma. He lifted the little girl in front of him and kissed her cheek while mouthing a 'thank you' for which Sivu replied with a flying kiss, but it didn't reach Aravind.
A little someone caught the kiss and threw it on the ground.
"Yallu Alavind indha akka? Yen unaku flying kish kodutha." she asked
"Sivaanya ma! Evanga than Alina, enoda kutty angel. Alu ma, na unakum oru akka kum same birthday apdi nu soliruken-la, antha akka ivanga than."
The little girl glared at Sivu, who had her arms out, attempting to carry her. Alina quickly hugged Aravind and hid her face in the crook of his neck, whispering "akka venna, Alavind than venum."
Aravind let out a hearty giggle while Sivu pouted hearing her words.
"Romba than panra! Evaluku eva Aravind vantha podhum, elarayum marandhutala." The trio heard Andy ma'am, who has been managing the orphanage for the past 40 years.
"Aravind, epdi iruka pa! Nalla valunthuta. Evalo oli, kutty-a irupa. Azhaga iruku. Una pathathu romba happy-a iruku." she smiled, blessing the pair when they seeked her blessings.
"Una pathi epodhum soluvan. Ana enna pessa vitadhu kedayathu. Enga yen kitta-ey, audio call than pesuvan." She sighed. Aravind put his head down in shame; before he could speak, Alina began screaming for Aravind's attention.
"Enna da pattu achu?" He asked gently before rocking her slowly.
"Alavind, thungu!" she said, hugging him even closer, letting out a small yawn.
"Pattu, thookum varudha. Sivu ma, na ivala thoonga vekuren. Ne Andy ma'am oda pesitu iru."
Sivaanya spent the last 30 minutes speaking with Andy ma'am. Both of them rejoicing over Aravind's childhood. Little mischievous acts that often put him in trouble or the times he was a remarkably well-behaved child.
Now, she sat on a wooden chair under a neem tree, admiring the way the leaves moved to the wind blowing. Suddenly, her ear drums were tortured with the sound of a loud whistle. She turned to look at Aravind, holding a whistle and 2 bubble bottles. Giving her one of the bottles, he sat next to her.
"Happa, ipo vachu vital-ey unoda Alina. Alavind, Alavind unoda matum than iruka. Ithula madam ku kovam na unkoda pesuna." she spoke with a smile, laughing at Alina's antics.
"Enaku avala romba pudikum. Ithu than first time avala na nerula pakuren, ithuku munadi ava kita matum thaniya video call pesuvan. Enala ma'am paka mudiyala, athu nala avanga kita verum audio call than. Romba nal aprom nethu than namba varom nu soli call pannu-ney. Alina night fulla thungama wait panalam." He spoke, while blowing bubbles.
"Oru 1 and half year irukum-la, since you started taking care of Alina. Na mattum than innum avala pakala. Epodhum avakoda secret-a pessaru."
"Avakuda na gel agavey romba nalla achu. Intha trip la ungala friends aikudren. Avala patha enaku unoda nenapu than varum. Actually, namba love panum-podhu, enga group la adoption flyer share panna Alina oda details send pananga. Unga rendu perukum oru birth date, athan enaku romba assai avala nalla pathukanum." He spoke, laying his head on her shoulder.
They kept conversing until Aravind felt a tug on his pants. He looked down to see Alina standing, with hair messed up and a small pout. She looked at Aravind and Sivaanya, before squeezing herself in between the couple, making Sivu glare at her.
"Enoda Alavind! Na share panamatten!" Alina spoke to Sivu, trying to keep a stern look with hands on her hips.
"Enoda Aravind! Nanum share panamatten." Sivu replied, imitating her actions.
Alina let out a tiny gasp, before placing herself on Aravind's left thigh. Sivu quickly copied her actions, sitting on Aravind's right thigh. He immediately wrapped his hands around them protectively to ensure either of them don't fall.
"Epdi panadha, pleashe!" She said, tears pooling in her eyes, trying to push Sivaanya down.
Realizing she was too weak to push down a grown adult, she hugged Aravind tightly and kissed his cheek. Before Sivu could copy her action, she placed her tiny palm on her lips, making Aravind throw his head back and laugh.
He showered Alina with kisses, whispering a soft "Kedi!"
"Alu ma, oru nal na romba happy-a irukum pothu, ne ketta-la ethuku happy-a iruken. Apo na oru akka enkoda irukanga sonnalen, antha akka than ivanga. Aravind ku unna romba pudikum, intha Akka vum romba pudikum, apo neenga rendu perum friends-a irukanum-la." Aravind gently spoke, while pleading with his eyes.
Alina thought for a few seconds before forwarding her hand to Sivu for a handshake, which she gladly reciprocated.
"Good girl, Alu ma!" He said, placing a kiss on her cheek. Sivu argued that she also deserved one, getting a kiss from Aravind. The duo eventually laid on his chest and dozed off, while he sat wide awake admiring them.
