Injured in the Blizzard.....

The setting sun showed off its dazzling colors as Faith and Calem walked through the streets of Shalour City. Calem started shivering as snow started to fall.

"So..... where are you from?" Faith asked Calem. She wrapped her coat around him, and he blushed intensely.

"Uhh..... Vaniville Town," he replied, in a kind-of awkward tone.

"Oh. Nice. I'm just from here in Shalour," she responded with a smile.

"I figured. You know, being Korrina's sister and all."

"Yeah....."

The soft snowfall quickly transformed into a full-fledged blizzard, and the snow was very watery, making it very hard to see.

"Calem, look out!"

Calem barely had time to react before something rammed into him, knocking him down. He hit his head on the sidewalk hard. In his mind, he was screaming in pain, but he bit his lip to try and hold back his cries. Then he blacked out, subconsciously hearing a groan escape him.

"Calem!" Faith cried, running over to him. She saw the light in his beautiful, pale blue eyes starting to fade away, and his eyes were starting to close. She also kept hearing soft groans escape him, and it scared her. Blood stained the pavement underneath his head, the color slowly draining from his face.

"Oh, I'm- I'm so sorry....." a woman ran up to them. "I can't keep my dear Rhyhorn under control..... is he hurt badly?"

"I'm not sure. I'll call an ambulance, or-" Faith looked up. There was a Pokémon Center right in front of them. "We're lucky." Faith picked up Calem, who was surprisingly light, and ran to the Pokémon Center. The woman followed her inside.

Everything in the Pokémon Center was thrown into chaos as soon as Faith carried in the unconscious boy, blood dripping from his head. After they were able to stabilize Calem, they transferred him to the hospital for better results.

"What happened?" The nurse asked Faith, hurrying along the hallway that Calem was being rushed down.

"Rhyhorn attack. He would've been able to dodge it had it not been snowing out. I have to admit, I didn't see it either."

They did a quick scan of Calem's brain, looking for signs of amnesia. Luckily, there were none. Then they looked for the damage.

"Possible concussion. There's definitely a cracked skull, so we'll need to fix that before anything else. Fortunately, there's no internal bleeding. So the chances of a stroke and the likes are slim. But we need to fix the injury."

"Did you check other areas? He seemed to have a hard time breathing on our way here," Faith said.

"When he wakes up, if he feels any other pain, we'll scan those areas. But for now, he should be fine."

The surgeons started to prepare for emergency surgery. Faith rushed into the OR and clocked in.

"Surgical nurse, Ms. Grant?"

"Here!" Faith replied. She started counting the various surgical tools and instruments to make sure they were all there.

The operation started once Faith made sure all the needed instruments were on the tray. Faith handed the scalpel to the head surgeon.

Calem woke up hours later. His head ached, and he felt slightly dizzy. But the worst part was the pain and tightness in his chest. His ribs hurt, and so did his arm.

He looked around. He was in a dark room, with a few machines next to him, an IV connected to his arm. It looked like a room for recovery, but Calem wasn't completely sure.

Calem struggled to sit for a while before giving up and falling back into laying position. The dizziness overwhelmed him, and he brought his hand to his forehead, only to find that his head was wrapped in gauze. Calem blinked.

Suddenly, the door opened, and the lights turned on, hurting Calem's eyes. He blinked a few times, trying to get used to the change. And as soon as he did, he saw someone he recognized.

"Grace?"

Grace smiled at him, putting her hand on his shoulder. "Hey, Calem. Are you okay? When my Rhyhorn suddenly took off and rammed into you..... I couldn't even go home to Serena. I felt like I needed to stay here to apologize."

"N-No..... it wasn't your fault. Rhyhorn are reckless Pokémon. I'm not even sure how you manage to stay on yours during your races."

Grace smiled and hugged him gently. "How are you doing? Any pain?"

"A lot, in my ribs and my arm. Some in my head."

Grace looked concerned. Faith walked in and immediately hugged Calem.

"O-Ow....."

"Sorry!!!"

He smiled weakly. "It's okay."

Faith smiled back. Suddenly, they heard a loud crash. "What was that?!"

And now, bloopers for this chapter:

Faith: Shush. I'm used to being from Galar.

Calem: Not gonna lie. I laughed at that one.

Faith: Of course you did.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Faith: I always get those two mixed up!
Grace: Sometimes, I do too. Don't worry about it.
Calem: You guys freaking made me laugh while I was pretending to be unconscious! So much for acting.....
Faith: Wait, you were acting?
Calem: *facepalms* it's supposed to be a story! Not a real-life accident!
Faith: You scared me half to death!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Faith: Ah yes. The good times, when I would forget to clock into my Occupations class or whatever the hell it was called.

Korrina: Wait. You FORGOT that? Like, every single time?!

Faith: ..... Yep.
