NINE| pissing off bellamy... part 100000
I walked across the cafeteria trying to keep my fists unclenched as I felt Officer Blake's eyes on me. I remembered some of our conversation and the anger and annoyance that came with it. That anger and annoyance were threatening to come to the surface again as I was only a few feet away from where he was standing.
Officer Blake crossed his arms over his chest as our eyes met. I motioned for him to follow me as I passed him. We walked down the hallway a little bit before I turned around quickly making him come to a fast stop. I spoke in a mean tone, partly because I hated the way my mind was naturally curious about him.
"Ok, I'll make this quick because I really do not want to have to stand here in your presence very long," I spit out.
That freaking smirk returned, "But I thought you liked me and my freckles."
"Excuse me?"
Him and his freckles? Why would I...
Oh crap. The memory of the last thing I said to him before I passed out came rushing back, and I could feel the red on my cheeks, "That... That wasn't me saying I like you. That was me being delirious from a concussion."
He gave me a cheeky grin, "Whatever you say, Princess."
Princess? I gritted my teeth becoming even more annoyed, "All I came here to do was try to figure out how I got this stupid concussion, but of course you have to make it difficult. I already have a pounding headache and your cocky comments are only making it worse... and my name is Harley, not Princess!"
Breathing heavily from my angry outburst, I brought my eyes up to meet his which were laced with amusement, "Are you always this overdramatic?"
Loud chatter from outside the tent I shared with Kate and Clarke caused me to sit up with a start, the distant memory on replay in my thoughts. That memory... It felt like it happened yesterday. Everything was so clear and real, including my fast-paced heartbeat from that conversation with Bellamy. This was only my second memory so far, but I was hopeful that as the days continued to pass, even more would come to my mind.
I looked around, finding that I was by myself in the darkness. I rubbed my tired eyes as the faint flickering of torches emitted through the white fabric of the tent. I stood up, pulling my messy hair into a ponytail as I peeked my head outside. Everyone was pointing at the sky with shocked expressions on their faces. What was going on? I spotted Archie and Miller talking to one another close to my tent with their eyes on the stars above. I walked towards them, causing their heads to turned as I stopped beside them.
"What's going on?" I asked.
Archie pointed to the sky, "Look."
I turned my eyes to the night sky above us, catching sight of what looked like a small ship falling from the stars. A harsh fire followed behind it as it headed closer to the ground. I watched as a parachute flew open and it disappeared behind the tall trees in the distance.
"Do you think it's supplies?" I asked as I turned my eyes to Miller.
He nodded, "Probably. I just hope they sent down something that can help us against the grounders."
I saw Octavia joining us as she glanced around, looking for her brother, "Bellamy, get out here!"
I crossed my arms over my chest as a cool breeze flickered in the air creating small patterns of goosebumps on my exposed arms. My eyes went back to Bellamy's tent, widening as he exited shirtless. I immediately looked away when two girls with blankets wrapped around them exited after him. My cheeks flushed with embarrassment and even a little bit of anger. I knew I told him he wasn't my boyfriend, and that meant I had no place telling him who to sleep with or not to sleep with, so why did my heart feel betrayed? I shook off the feeling as he stood beside Octavia.
"They're coming to help us," Someone said from the back of the group. "Now we can kick some grounder ass!" Several people laughed, nodding in agreement.
"Please tell me they brought down some shampoo," Roma added. I gave her a silent glare, but only because she was annoying. Not because she was one of the girls in Bellamy's tent that night.
I glanced at Miller, "We need to set up a team to go looking for the ship."
Bellamy heard my words, "You're right," he motioned for me to follow him as he turned to go back to his tent, along with Jones, Miller, and a few others..
I joined them in Bellamy's tent as he pulled on a shirt and his jacket, "If it cleared the ridge, it's probably near the lake," Jones said.
"That's only five miles," I looked between everyone. "We can make it before light."
Before Bellamy could answer, Octavia came into the tent with an expectant look on her face, "We should get moving" she said. "Everyone's ready."
Bellamy shook his head, "No one's going anywhere."
I turned to him with raised eyebrows, "What?"
"Not while it's dark. It isn't safe," It was never safe out there. "We'll head out at first light. Pass the word."
The others in the tent began heading out, but I was determined to fight Bellamy on this. What if the grounders got there before us?
I wasn't the only one willing to protest. Octavia stepped in Bellamy's path before he could exit the tent, "Everyone within one hundred miles saw this thing come down. What if the grounders get to it first?"
"Octavia's right," I stepped beside her. "We need to leave now. We can put together a small, trusted team-"
Bellamy clenched his jaw, cutting me off "I said, we wait until sunrise."
He shoved past us, leaving the tent. Irritation filled my head as I wondered why he was in such a shitty mood. I gave Octavia a quick glance.
"Your brother can be a serious ass sometimes."
Octavia nodded, "I know."
I walked out of the tent with quick footsteps, my eyes shooting around camp as I looked for Bellamy. He couldn't just interrupt me and walk away. It wouldn't be that easy.
Spotting him chatting with Archie made me raise my eyebrows in surprise as the two of them laughed about something. I trotted up to them, pointing between them.
"Since when are you two friends?"
Archie shrugged, "We've been friends for a while, Harley. You were kind of in a coma when it happened though." My eyes turned to Bellamy, and I knew Archie could tell I wanted to talk to him alone. "Okay, well, I have to go... do something."
Archie left quickly. He could be such a dork sometimes.
"If you're here to try to change my mind, Harley, you can just save your breath."
I rolled my eyes at him, "You're so stupid," I let out with frustration. "We're all gonna just sit back and wait until the sun comes up, and then we'll get there, and all the supplies the Ark sent down will be in the hands of the grounders."
"Yeah, the grounders who know this forest better than any of us. Going out there in daylight is already dangerous enough," He fired back.
"Well, I guess I'll just have to go by myself then," I turned around, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back to him swiftly.
"No fucking way," He said angrily. "You're delusional if you think I'd ever let you go out there alone."
"Oh yeah? Well, you're delusional if you think I'm going to let you tell me what to do," I ripped my arm away from his grip. "Why don't you just go back to your little threesome, and I'll handle this one."
I walked away before he could say anything else, "Harley!" He yelled, causing some people to turn their heads to him, but I kept walking until I reached my tent.
I grabbed my backpack, throwing a few supplies into it with anger in my movements. I was inwardly cursing with every breath. Why was Bellamy such a hardass? Why did he having fucking threesomes, and then five seconds later, act like he cared about me? He was so confusing and it pissed me off. My feelings pissed me off too. Why couldn't I just move on from him? Why was he always in the back of my mind?
I kicked my backpack over in anger when I was finished packing.
"Um... You good Harles?"
I turned my head, noticing Kate had been in the tent the whole time I was having my small outburst.
I nodded, taking a deep breath as I threw the bag over my shoulder, "Yeah, I'm fine. Totally fine."
"You don't seem fine."
"Kate, let's just say, I don't want to talk about it," I replied as my breathing became steady again.
She sat down on her small makeshift bed in the corner, "Is this about Bellamy having a threesome with Roma and Bree? Everyone's talking about it." I opened my mouth to deny, but she kept talking. "You know, every single person in this camp knows Bellamy is still in love with you, and the fact that you push him away kills him."
Her words hit my chest in an unpleasant way, "I just don't know what to do anymore. I can't give him what he wants."
"And what's that?"
I shrugged, "He wants the Harley he knew on the Ark, and that's just not who I am anymore."
"How do you know he won't love this version of you too?" Kate asked with her usual wisdom. "When you love someone, you love all of them; the good, the bad, the pretty, and the ugly."
Why did she always have to be right?
"I'm just not ready," I answered with truth.
Kate nodded with understanding, "Well when you are, I promise he won't turn away like you think he will."
Kate was such a good friend to have around. She was the wisest person in camp who always had the best advice for every situation. I gave her a grateful smile.
"You're the best."
She grinned, "I know."
"Okay, well, it's time to do what I do best," I turned to walk out of the tent, "It's time to piss off Bellamy."
――――
Walking through the forest in the early hours of the morning as the sun barely peeked over the horizon was peaceful. The sweet smell of dew over the pine needles was refreshing. I hardly ever got alone time around camp. This was nice. I pulled out the map of the forest Clarke had drawn a few weeks ago. I was getting closer to where the ship probably landed. The lake was only half a mile away.
The sound of a branch cracking underneath someone's foot caused me to stop in my tracks. I clutched the small knife attached to my belt as I listened to the quiet footsteps approaching. It sounded like two people.
Preparing myself to be met with angry grounders, I turned around with the knife in my right hand, only to see the exact opposite.
Clarke and Finn were standing there, looking between my face and the knife pointed at them. I let out a breath of relief as I lowered the knife.
"Harley?" Clarke asked. "What are you doing out here?"
"I could ask you two the same question," I glanced between them. "Where the hell have you been all night? Everyone was starting to get worried."
Finn scratched his head awkwardly as he avoided the question, "We're looking for Bellamy."
I gave them a confused look, "Bellamy? Isn't he back at camp?"
"No, he went looking for the ship by himself."
"That doesn't make any sense. He told everyone to wait until sunrise. That's why I'm out here because his plan is stupid."
Clarke nodded, "He wanted everyone to stay at camp so he can get to whatever is in that ship first."
I shook my head, "Of course he did."
Finn glanced at the map in my hands. He looked at the spot where I had circled the place I thought the ship landed, "That isn't far."
I folded the map and put it in the side pocket of my backpack, "Yeah, so let's keep moving. Bellamy can't be too far ahead of us."
