The day of the field trip

No one's POV:

The sun is starting to rise and the students of business studies are gathered at the university premises, waiting for the field trip to begin. It was a significant day for all the students as they are going to know practically how business is operated.

Jungkook, as their professor and also the trip leader is standing at the front and organizing the students and also ensuring everything ran smoothly.

Jungkook: Alright, everyone, listen up

He started speaking drawing the attention of everyone. He held a clipboard in his hand, scanning the list of names.

Jungkook: We've got a long day ahead, so I need you to stay focused. We'll start by visiting the company's headquarters where you'll get to observe how they handle their operations. After that, we'll break into smaller groups for some activities.

Y/n stood a little behind the crowd, watching him with a mix of admiration and nervousness. He looked so composed, so professional that she couldn't help but admire. She feels proud and her heart swells up thinking that this man has proposed to her not too long ago and she knows now they had to act like nothing had changed.

The students started boarding the bus, Jungkook stayed at the entrance, ticking off names as each student got inside.

Jungkook: Stay with your assigned groups, and no wandering off.

He reminded them as they passed by.

When Y/n finally walked up to him, their eyes met for a split second. He didn’t say anything more than what he'd said to the others, but the tension between them was undeniable.

On the bus, Jungkook sat at the front, close to the other professors, but he kept glancing back at the students, ensuring they were settled and behaving.

He caught Y/n's eye in the rearview mirror once, a quick moment that made his heart skip. But he turned back to the road, reminding himself that he is their professor as well as leader too for today. No one should know or get suspicious about his connection with her.

After the bus ride they arrived at the company's headquarters. Jungkook gathered the students near the entrance, giving them instructions before the tour began.

Jungkook: Once inside, you'll be guided through different departments to see how the business operates

Jungkook started explaining to the students in his professional tone.

Jungkook: Make sure you’re paying attention. There will be time for questions later.

The students listened to him carefully. Y/n stood among them, her heart is pounding rapidly. She could see how well Jungkook was managing everything, and it was hard not to feel the pull between them. She knew that they had to act like nothing was out of the ordinary, but the tension was there, lingering just below the surface. They are careful enough of their surroundings and not letting anyone suspicious, specially Rowoon.

Then the students are guided through various parts inside the company. Jungkook walked alongside the group, keeping an eye on everyone and also engaging in polite conversations with the company's staff. He was in his element, showing his expertise as both a professor and a professional.

At one point, during a break, Y/n found herself standing near a display that showed the company's latest products. Jungkook was nearby, speaking with another professor, but his attention drifted toward her. Their eyes met, but this time, neither of them looked away. It was a brief moment, but it spoke volumes.

Jungkook excused himself from the conversation and started walking in her direction. Y/n sensed his approach, quickly broke the eye contact and looked away, feeling a familiar flutter in her chest.

He reached her and stood in a safe distance. His hands slipped into his pockets, a casual stance, but his gaze held a warmth only she could recognize. Y/n's heart raced, and she nervously licked her lips, feeling a little overwhelmed. It wasn't the first time he'd been this close and she knew they are closer than this but every time felt just as intense. She could feel the weight of unsaid words between them.

Before either of them could speak, a voice interrupted.

Student: Excuse me, Mr. Jeon

A student called, stepping into the moment.

Student: Could you come over to that side? We have a question.

Jungkook glanced at the student, then back at Y/n. His expression softened, and with a brief nod, he turned away.

Jungkook: I'll be right there

He said to the student, and with one last look at Y/n, he walked off, leaving her standing there, her heart still beating fast, wondering what would have happened if they hadn’t been interrupted.

When it was time for the students to break into groups for the activity, Jungkook took charge, assigning different students to work together. He started telling who is in which group and what their work is.

Jungkook: Y/n, you'll be with Jiwoon's group.

He said, his voice steady and authoritative, though his heart was racing.

As the groups worked on their task, coming up with ideas for marketing a new product, Jungkook moved around the room, checking on their progress.

He approached each group with the same professionalism, offering advice and feedback where needed. But when he reached Y/n's group, he couldn't help but feel the tension between them.

Jungkook: How's it going here?

He asked, glancing briefly at Y/n before turning his attention to the rest of the group.

Jiwoon quickly explained their ideas, while Y/n remained quiet, trying to focus on the task at hand. Jungkook gave a few pointers, keeping his tone neutral, but his mind was elsewhere. He could feel the weight of every look Y/n gave him, and it was driving him crazy that he couldn't respond the way he wanted.

As the day continued, Jungkook led the students through different parts of the company, making sure everything stayed on schedule. He interacted with the staff, keeping a close eye on the students, but every time he passed by Y/n, his heart would beat just a little faster and somehow Y/n's condition is also same.

When the formal activities ended for the day, the students were taken to their accommodation, a cozy lodge in the mountains. The evening sky was painted in shades of pink and orange, and the air felt fresher here, far from the busy city. Jungkook stood by the entrance, making sure each student found their assigned rooms.

Jungkook: You'll be sharing rooms with your classmates, and we'll have a small meeting before dinner.

He announced, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear. He tried to focus on his duties, but the sight of Y/n settling in with her friends was a constant distraction.

Later that night, the students gathered in the common area for some free time. Some were playing games, others were chatting, and a few sat by the fireplace, enjoying the warmth. Jungkook sat with the other professors, observing, but his eyes kept drifting toward Y/n. The distance between them was making him restless.

Suddenly, one of the students suggested a night walk around the lodge grounds. It wasn't part of the schedule, but with the beautiful, moonlit night outside, no one wanted to stay indoors.

Jungkook: We should stick together if we're going out.

He said, his tone firm, though he couldn’t deny that a walk would be a good way to unwind after the day's activities.

Jungkook: Just don't wander too far.

As they walked, the students laughed and joked, the tension of the day giving way to a more relaxed atmosphere. Y/n stayed near the back of the group, and Jungkook found himself slowing down until he was walking just a few steps behind her.

The group spread out a little as they explored the area, and soon Y/N and Jungkook found themselves at the edge of a small clearing, slightly apart from the others. The night was quiet, and the stars seemed brighter out here, away from the city lights.

Y/n glanced at Jungkook, her heart racing.

Jungkook: It's beautiful here

She said quietly.

Jungkook: Yeah.

He replied in a soft voice, though his mind wasn't in the scenery.

Jungkook: It's peaceful.

For a moment, they stood in silence, the distance between them feeling both too close and too far. The tension that had built up all day was unbearable now, with no one around to notice.

Y/n: We should get back.

Y/n said, though her voice was hesitant, as if she didn't really want to leave.

Jungkook nodded, but before they could turn back, he gently grabbed her wrist.

Jungkook: Y/n...

His voice was barely above a whisper.

She looked at him, her breath catching in her throat. They were so close now, and it felt impossible to hold back any longer. But just as Jungkook leaned in, a shout from the other students pulled them back to reality.

Student: Professor! Are we going back now?

One of the students called out from a distance.

Jungkook quickly stepped back, his hand dropping from Y/n's wrist.

Jungkook: Yeah, we're coming

He called out, his voice steady, though his heart was racing.

As they walked back to the group, the moment was gone, but the tension between them was stronger than ever. They knew they had to keep their distance for now, but the night wasn't over yet, and neither of them could predict what might happen before the trip ended the next day.

Next day

The next day arrived with excitement, but the tension between Jungkook and Y/n still hung in the air. All the students gathered in the lodge for breakfast. The room buzzed with chatter, the clatter of plates, and the sounds of tired yawns.

Many students looked exhausted from the long first day of the trip, but they were eager for what the second day would bring.

Y/n sat with her friends, quietly eating her food. Her mind kept drifting to the moment she shared with Jungkook the night before. She tried to focus on the conversation at the table, but it was hard. Her heart raced every time she thought about him.

Across the room, Jungkook stood with the other professors, watching over the students. He looked calm on the outside, but inside, he couldn't stop thinking about Y/n. He knew they had to be careful. The last thing they needed was anyone noticing the growing tension between them.

As breakfast went on, Rowoon kept glancing at Y/n. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was going on with her. He didn't get the chance to talk with her about his concern. He wanted to ask her more about it, but he didn't want to push too hard.

After breakfast, the students got ready for the day's activities. They were set to return to the company's headquarters for more workshops and meetings. Jungkook took charge, reminding the students to stay focused and participate fully.

Jungkook: We have a busy schedule today. Make sure you take notes and ask questions when needed. This is a great opportunity to learn.

His voice was steady, but his eyes briefly flickered to Y/n. She avoided looking directly at him, trying to act like everything was normal. The group soon boarded the bus and headed back to the company.

The day moved forward with a busy schedule. After arriving at the company, the students were divided into groups for various workshops. Jungkook led them through the halls, speaking with the company staff and ensuring everything ran smoothly. He stayed professional, keeping his distance from Y/n, though his thoughts constantly drifted to her.

Y/n, on the other hand, did her best to stay focused. She participated in the workshops, took notes, and asked questions when needed. But every time Jungkook came near her group, she felt her heart race. Their eyes met a few times, but they were careful, not holding the gaze too long or doing anything that might draw attention.

During lunch, Y/n found herself sitting alone at a corner, quietly eating her food. The day had been long, and she needed a moment away from the constant chatter of her classmates. She stared out the window, watching as the sunlight filtered through the trees, casting soft shadows on the ground.

The afternoon passed in a blur of final activities. The students were taken through a few more departments of the company, each group completing their assigned tasks and gathering information for their projects. Y/n moved along with the others, quietly absorbing the details, but her mind kept drifting back to the brief moments she had shared with Jungkook. Even though they had been careful all day, the tension between them had never truly disappeared.

By the time the last presentation was over, everyone was visibly tired. The students gathered their belongings and started boarding the bus to head back to the university. Y/n chose a seat at the back, hoping for some peace during the ride. Most of the students were already half-asleep by the time the bus started moving, their exhaustion finally catching up with them.

As usual, Jungkook sat at the front seat with other professors. He took small glances of Y/n through the mirror.

The bus rolled through the quiet night, the hum of the engine and the occasional bump in the road the only sounds in the air. Y/n rested her head against the window, watching the dark landscape pass by. She wasn't sure how much time had passed when she sensed someone approaching.

She looked up to see Jungkook making his way down the aisle, carefully checking on the students. When he reached her seat, he paused for a moment, glancing around to make sure no one was watching. The bus was dimly lit, and most of the students were already fast asleep.

Without saying a word, Jungkook slid into the seat next to her, leaving just enough space to avoid drawing any suspicion. For a moment, neither of them spoke, the weight of their connection hanging in the air between them.

Jungkook : You okay...?

Y/n nodded, her heart racing as she glanced at him. Even though they were surrounded by their classmates, this felt like the closest they'd been all day.

Jungkook looked around once more, making sure everyone was still asleep. Then, with a quick, careful movement, he leaned in and gently pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. It was brief, barely more than a peck, but it sent warmth flooding through Y/n's chest.

Y/n's breath caught in her throat, her heart pounding louder than the bus engine. She looked up at him, her eyes wide, but he simply gave her a small smile before leaning back into his seat, his eyes returning to the front of the bus.

Jungkook : We'll talk later.

He whispered and Y/n nodded, unable to find her voice. The moment had been fleeting, but it was enough to remind her that despite the need for secrecy, their feelings hadn’t faded.

As the bus continued down the road, the quiet night surrounding them, Y/n leaned her head back against the window, a soft smile tugging at her lips. The day had been long, but it wasn't  over yet. And somehow, despite the challenges they faced, she felt a sense of calm.
