Chapter 2: Silver
I sighed to myself, cooking dinner for the three girls that were living with me.
"Zero, please don't break that.." I glanced at her.
The crimson red hedgehog was poking a vase with a knife, her shrunken pupils fixated on the object. She was a bit of an... Interesting person. She had been abandoned as a toddler and had picked up a sadistic past time... Zero, which I wasn't too sure it that was her name or not, is, er... Mentally insane. Not stable at all. There would be nights she would run away for God knows what. Honestly it scared me to ask.
And I remember Sonic telling me to lock my door of a night, also not fun. Once I had finished dinner I placed it on the table, "Girls, dinner is ready!"
There was a crash from behind me as Zero pushed the vase over. She will be the death of me.
"Zero, what did I say?" I grumbled, glancing at her. If my fur wasn't already silver, well it would be now... That's just the nice way of saying it. Girls are confusing. Why Sonic couldn't have them, I will never no...
Or I might...
Zero giggled in the creepiest way possible for a girl, and that alone is NORMAL. She walked to the table uneasily and sat down as another girl came down the hall. The room warming a little was all it took for me to know who it was. The red fox strutted into the room as if she owned the place, her tight, revealing dress hugged her curves.
"Adena, where is your sister?" I asked, raising a brow. She was a bit of a flirt, but that's all she does. Thankfully.
The women stopped very close to me, hugging my arm, "In her room, you know she doesn't like to come out."
"Well she has to eat." I said, trying to pull from her grip.
Adena rolled her eyes and pushed me into a chair, sitting on my lap. The slit in the side of her dress did not make things any easier. "Oh come now Silver, don't worry about her." Her eyes were... Strange. One was red, the shade of a ruby, the other was.. Different. In the shape of a Diamond, her left eye was gold.
I stared into her eyes, doing my best to show no emotion, "Unlike you, I care for people, and I want you sister down here in the next five minutes to eat." Carefully, I pushed her off me and stood, "Now go get her."
Adena growled, "No way, I couldn't care less if she starved." Fuming, she sat in a seat.
Rolling my eyes, I walked down the hall, "Amaya, time for dinner."
I waited.
No response as usual.
I knocked on the door.
My hand felt frozen, again, a usual thing. Amaya is... Well, she can't control her power.
"I'll... I'll leave your dinner out here again..." My ears lowered, walking down the hall. I felt bad for her.. Adena and Amaya are twins, so you would think they are close. But nope, they hate each other.
It had something to do with their family. I can't properly remember but one was the odd one out and one was loved... Then again they didn't talk much about family, well, Adena did a few times and Amaya... Heck I was lucky to even see her for a good minute.
Using my powers to float the food down the hall, I sat down, "Enjoy you two..."
Zero ate her food slowly, while Adena ate practically perfectly. And I'm here, wishing it was tomorrow, that way I don't have to live with these girls alone. Zero giggled as she aggressively stabbed the steak I cooked for dinner, hers I made rare for the fact she loved watching the blood come out.
"At least try to not make a mess..." I mumbled, knowing she wouldn't listen but still tried in hope she would. She, as predicted, ignored me as she nibbled on the meat. I lowered my eyes to my own food, strangely I just wasn't hungry tonight. Maybe it's nerves? Or excitement? I wasn't sure, but I couldn't wait to have a room to myself again...
Adena was done with her food rather quickly, "Well I better pack, I assume we're moving in tomorrow by the look on your face." She stood and walked out, her mood seemed much different suddenly.
My head snapped up at that, "Okay...?"
The door to her room seemed to slam close, leaving me alone with..... Oh boy.
"So Zero..." I stated, giving a weak smile as she stabbed her meat again, "Do you need help packing anything...?" I wasn't entirely sure if she had anything, all she seemed to have was the knife...
"Hmmmmmmmmmm" she hummed softly, swaying in her seat, eyes fixed on something past seeing, "Nooo....."
"Okay." I thought so, "Would you mind putting the plates in the sink? Please don't break them. I'm going to talk to Adena, she seemed upset.."
Ooooookaaaay~" She stood and took the plates.
"Thanks." I walked upstairs. The hall was darker now, so the sun was setting. Stopping in front of a cream-coloured door, I knocked lightly, "Adena?"
"Come in." Her voice wasn't as light and loving as it was before.
I opened the door slowly, "Are you okay?"
"Absolutely." She said a little shortly, putting a few things in a small bag.
"You sure?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I?" She asked, her fluffy tail flicking.
"Look, I don't know much about girls, but I do know when their ticked. What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Just... Leave me alone. I know you don't want to talk to me really. You're only trying to be nice." She sighed, "It's annoying."
"Me being nice is annoying?" I raised a brow, I've had to deal with this enough, "I didn't have to be nice, I could have left you in that ally with those men. I'm sure you'd LOVE to go back there."
She froze, with her back to me I couldn't see her expression, but her voice was anything but pleasant now, "Get out. I need to finish packing."
I instantly regretted saying what I just did, "Adena I-"
"Go."
Sighing, I left. It was so strange, one moment Adena was her usual self, flirty and showy, then the next this?
"Girls..." I sighed yet again. I can't wait for tomorrow...
