The sound of a car horn blared outside of your house, signaling that Jungkook had finally arrived, and was waiting for you on your driveway. You jumped to your feet, your heart pounding at the exciting thought of spending another fun evening with your childhood best friend; Jeon Jungkook.
A grin made its way to your lips, your hand reaching out to grab your bag from your closest, closing its doors before practically skipping down your staircase to the main floor. Your eyes made a swift glance around your house, making sure everything was in place before putting on your shoes and closing the front door.
A black mercedes stood on your driveway, the sun reflecting off of its newly cleaned hood while its engine was running. The car door's window slid down, revealing Jungkook with sunglasses covering his brown doe eyes, his arm resting on the frame of the window.
"What took you so long!" he yelled at you from inside the car, unintentionally revealing his bunny smile. You shook your head and giggled as you locked your front door, making your way down the porch and around his car to the passenger seat.
"You've only been waiting for what, 2 minutes?" you playfully rolled your eyes as you closed the car door, taking a seat next to him.
"Every minute counts." he shrugged, placing his hands back on the wheel and pulling out of the driveway.
The car grew comfortably silent, eventually broken by your high pitched squeal caused by the lurch of the car as Jungkook went over a speed bump faster than he should. He chuckled at your reaction, swerving the car side to side on the empty street, making you throw your head back and laugh along with him, a ticklish feeling forming in the pit of your stomach.
You couldn't help but let a smile escape at his silliness, it was one of the things that you love the most about him. It was his fun, bright and active behavior that made you become best friends in the first place. The way he'd drag you out of your house, even if it was as simple as getting ice cream or a coffee would brighten your mood every time. Yes he was an idiot, but he was your idiot
"Jungkook stop! You're gonna hit something." you said, a grin evident on your face. His smile mirrored yours and stopped swerving the car, continuing straight down the road. You then leaned over, turning on the radio to your favourite station. You both looked at each other grinning once hearing the beginning of your favourite song come on.
After a while he parked on the side of the road, getting out and paying for the parking, you following him. He took out his keys, locking his car before the both of you walked down the sidewalk, seeing the waves of the sea up ahead. Many other people surrounded you, going in and out of stores, eating food from the restaurants and cafes along the shore, enjoying the view as the sun began to set. Your hands stayed inside your pockets as you looked around, noticing how Jungkook came to an unexpected stop by an ice cream cart, taking two cones into his hand and paying before you could protest.
"Don't worry, this one's on me." he simply said, before you were both back to strolling quietly next to each other.
You watched the sun set behind the water, the rays reflecting off of the small waves that hit the concrete, your attention soon drifting off to a man nearby.
"Come! Come! Come see your future!" he exclaimed, your eyes locking.
"Come here Miss, I can help you travel in time."
"Um, no thank you." you answered awkwardly, glancing at the booth he stood next to, the words 'Time travel' written on the red board.
Jungkook looked over, stopping you before you walked away from the booth.
"We should try it out, I wanna see where this goes."
You shook your head. "It's a waste of money."
"A waste of money? I'm hurt Miss. I would never lie to you." the man said.
"C'mon." Jungkook took your hand, dragging you towards the booth.
"Jungkook" you whined while tugging on his shirt, knowing that the man was just putting you into a money trap and that none of what he said was true.
"How much is it?" Jungkook asked, pulling out his wallet.
"Twenty per person, but I'll bring it down to fifteen for just you two." he said with a kind smile, running his hand through his brown beard.
Jungkook pulled out a twenty and a ten dollar bill, handing it to the man as you huffed.
"Now if you both would please step into the booth and kindly wait till I tell you to come out." the man said, tucking the money into his pocket with a grin.
Jungkook pulled you with him into the booth, the both of you facing each other in the small space. The man closed the red curtains, making it darker, blocking your view of the outside.
"I can't believe you paid thirty dollars for this, are you crazy?" you scoffed, crossing your arms. "He literally just stuffed us in here."
"Chill Y/n, maybe we will time travel." He wriggled his brows at you, making you roll your eyes.
"You're crazy."
You both fell quiet, waiting for the man to tell you to come out. You tapped your foot, growing impatient and frustrated. There was no way you were going to time travel, because there was no such thing.
"It's been ten minutes." Jungkook mumbled, checking his phone. He stared at the curtain, growing a bit impatient himself.
"Excuse me? When are we supposed to come out?" he asked, biting his lip as he waited for an answer, which never came.
"For heaven's sake Jungkook, let's get out of here." you pulled on the curtain, pushing it aside as you took a step outside. "See I told you," you turned to him, putting your hands on your hips "you wasted your money."
Jungkook looked past you, his eyes growing big as he stared at something behind you.
"Um, Y/n…"
"What?"
"Turn around."
You turned your head, your eyes nearly bulging out.
Two boys, around eleven or twelve stood on top of what you would call skateboards, but these boards weren't like them, they hovered over the ground, needing no wheels. Nearby there was also what seemed like a robot, handing out fliers to people walking by.
"No this isn't real." you muttered, taking a step back.
Jungkook pulled out his phone, turning on his screen and staring at the date, his heart thumping.
"Wednesday July 21st, 2029"
Your throat felt dry, your hands trembling. There could be no way you had gone ten years into the future, this was all a joke. It had to be.
"Where's that man." you turned to Jungkook "where is he"
You noticed how the booth that was there seconds ago had disappeared. You eyes traveled around the seaside, the waves crashing against the cement like it did the last time you saw it. But this time there was screens filled with ads along the sides, instead of the large chains that were there to prevent anyone from falling into the water.
"There he is!" Jungkook exclaimed pointing down the sidewalk, where the familiar beard and brown hair of the man could be seen. You both ran, Jungkook getting ahead of you. The man turned around, noticing the both of you coming after him and ran as well, dragging the booth with him. You ran by several people, getting confused stares as you pushed past them to catch up.
"Get back here!" Jungkook yelled, watching as the man rounded a corner.
He turned the corner and you followed, only to find him sprawled on the floor.
Jungkook groaned as he sat up, a young boy on the ground next to him.
"Are you alright?" you asked Jungkook, who nodded and dusted himself off before standing up. You then went to the boy who was observing a scratch on his elbow from the fall, kneeling down next to him.
"Hey buddy, are you alright?" you asked softly, concerned that the boy was hurt.
"Yeah, thanks-" he glanced up at you, doing a double take his eyes grew big at the sight of you before trailing off to Jungkook.
"Mom? D-dad?"
