Song inspiration: Seventeen by Alessia Cara

Marie ran into the boarding room with a huge smile on her face.
"A letter from Papa!" She said waving around a white rectangle with a wax seal.
Amelia perked up and ran forward.
"Open it!" She begged and Marie did so.
When she started reading it, her smile dropped from her face.
"The war has gotten worse and Papa told me to stay here for the time being... told me to get a good education...." She sat down in a chair and looked up to Amelia.
"Well I'm not going anywhere, so let's just look for boarding schools!" Amelia said with a smile. "I know you're worried about what's going on at home, but it's in the Lord's hands."
Marie nodded her head.
"Oui," and after a long pause she said, "let's go out for a walk shall we?"
"Okay," Amelia stood up and they all walked out of the boarding home.
They walked around, grabbing some pastries at a local bakery. But it's when the walked and saw a pamphlet for a boarding school, Maria lit up. She grabbed it and read it.
"Well Papa did say to get an education here...." She said slowly. "Should we apply?" Marie asked, knowing leaving Amelia behind was out of the question.
"We should! It couldn't hurt!"

Marie signed the papers to be checked out of the house. They had been accepted into the school and we're making they're travels to it. Luckily it was only a day's walk and they were up early in the morning. Marie had given Amelia some breeches, shirt, and a coat to travel in.
They walked throughout the day, breaking every once in a while for food and water. The sun was particularly brutal that day, so the were sure to stay in the shade. As they drew closer, excitement grew in them.
When they arrived at the school, they checked in and were told what room they would be staying in. They opened the door and saw a girl a bit older than them, writing at a desk.
"You two must be my roommates! I'm Martha Washington, but you can call me Patsy." She shook hands with them and Marie smiled.
"Washington? You aren't the daughter of George Washington are you?" She chuckled.
"Why I am!" Patsy smiled.
"I'm the daughter of Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette! And this is Amelia, she's not important." Marie said as a joke, but Amelia couldn't help but laugh nervously because she definitely wasn't the daughter of the King of England.
"Well, well! You're father did quite a bit to win our freedom. I believe we'll get along just fine because of that."
"I believe we will."
