Chapter 1: High School Life
It was a beautiful autumn day in the suburbs of Detroit. The sun was shining, the air was nice and cool, the leaves were changing color, and all the kids in the area, young and old, were getting ready for their first day of high school. Zim was especially preparing himself to be in yet another class with Ms. Bitters.......and Dib.
Zim Shuddered a bit. Just thinking about Dib made him feel a little queezy. After middle school, Dib had basically become the school’s nerdy little “golden boy”. Zim was pretty sure that, at this point, Dib was trying to kill him, as Zim still had a few bruises from the beatings that Dib and his goons gave him the previous year, but Zim paid no mind to it. He just saw it as an annoying obstacle in his conquest.
It’s been about 5 years since he came to earth, and so far, he hasn’t found a single way to conquer it, but he wasn’t going to give up on his mission yet. He couldn’t give up yet.
Zim shook off the thoughts and left the house, going to the high school building, ready for junior year.
When he got to the school building, he was quickly able to make out a lot of old acquaintances, and his familiar enemy, Dib. Dib was standing at one of the doors leading into the building, conversing with his goons. Zim figured that he could easily “stealth mode” his way into the building before Dib ever saw him, so he quickly ducked into a small crowd of students. Unfortunately for Zim, the kids grabbed him and pushed him right into Dib just as he was about to get into the building. Dib smirked and pushed the Invader into his biggest goon of the group, a kid named Gus, who was on the football team.
“Well well well, what do we have here? The alien hasn’t left Earth yet, huh?” Dib taunted as the rest of the group of goons laughed
Zim struggled against Gus’s grip, but found himself unable to break free. He was stuck. Dib raised a fist to punch Zim in the face and Zim closed his eyes tightly, bracing himself for the beating. Before Dib could land a hit, however, the bell rang, signaling that they only had five minutes before class started. Dip snapped his fingers and Gus let go of Zim. Before Zim could run, Dib got very close to his face, his expression rather angry.
“We’ll continue this at lunch” he said with a low voice
With that, Zim bolted towards the classroom. He was pretty sure that if he was late on the first day, Ms. Bitters would send him to the underground classroom, and that was the last thing he wanted.
He didn’t notice until he tripped and fell close to the door that tears were running down his cheeks at a rapid rate. He was crying.
‘No!’ Zim thought to himself ‘Zim will not allow this!!’
He quickly wiped his tears away with his sleeve before getting up and going into Ms. Bitters’s classroom, taking his seat. The final bell rang and the kids scrambled to get to their seats. A few minutes later, Ms. Bitters walked in, her permanent scowl still there. She took a seat at her desk and addressed the class in the same sarcastic tone she always had.
“Good morning, class. I hope you all had a good summer. The principal just informed me that a new student will be joining us this year”
With that said, a young girl walked through the door. She wore a turquoise shirt, a blue skirt with a black belt, and black shows. She had dark brown hair and bright blue eyes, which didn’t seem to have any pupils. Her skin was a pale peach color with a slight hint of green in it, and around her neck hung a necklace with a blue teardrop charm.
Zim face became slightly dusted with blue. He was blushing. This girl was...beautiful, but what was she like? She glanced at Zim and smiled sweetly, causing him to blush even deeper.
“Go ahead and introduce yourself, sweetie, because afterwards, I don’t want to hear a peep from you!” Ms. Bitters yelled
“Um...okay. Hello everyone. My name is Crystal. I hope that we can get along and become great friends” the new girl, Crystal, said
“Good. Now… YOU! You’re being transfered to the underground classroom!” Ms. Bitters said
In a split second, the desk next to Zim’s flipped over and came back empty. Crystal took her seat next to Zim, who couldn’t stop staring at her. Ms. Bitters began her lecture on terrain of earth. Crystal glanced at Zim before grabbing a piece of loose leaf notebook paper and writing something. She folded it up and discreetly passed it to Zim, who took it and read it:
‘What’s your name?’
Zim took his pencil and wrote a response before carefully passing it back.
‘I am Zim’
Crystal wrote another question and passed it to Zim.
‘Do you want to sit with me at lunch?’
Zim’s written response:
‘Yes please’
Crystal smiled at him before looking forward, listening to Ms. Bitters for the rest of the period.
I hope I did well ( ^^; ), and I hope you all like it!
