Saturday, I was restless, I had nothing to do. My homework was finished, I cleaned my apartment and even did my laundry, purging some of my clothes, donating almost half of my closet. I paid my bills, made dinner, and even did some redecorating. I watched television for a while but ended up falling asleep around eight.

Sunday, I was thrown for a loop when Tracy texted me and said she could pick me up for our shopping trip. She chatted the whole way there about her date with Jack and how she didn't let him kiss her even if she really wanted to. She asked me when a good time to kiss him is, and I sheepishly said that when the time is right, she'll know.

I listened all the way to the mall, and she even asked me some questions about me and what I liked to do. It was a lot like an interview in a way when they asked you about yourself, and you sat there with no idea what to say. So, I kept asking her questions, and one thing I learned about Tracy was that her answers were never short. She loved to elaborate and give the lore of everything.

We walked around the mall for a while, window shopping at more expensive stores before making our way towards reasonably priced ones. There were sales everywhere, so I did get some cute outfits and shoes, probably maxing out my credit card in the process.

She stopped me in front of a lingerie store and pointed to a set that the mannequin in the window wore, gasping. "Let's look in here."

"Oh... sure." She dragged me in, and I sat while she looked around. My phone buzzed in my pocket. I looked at the unfamiliar number and saw a selfie of my dad and J.D. on the screen. A smile creeped on my face.

Unknown number: Physical therapy was a success!

Me: Good to hear. Thanks again!

I looked up and saw Tracy sorting through bras and pulled one up to show me. "Oh my god, isn't this so cute!"

I couldn't lie. It was very cute, and there was a sale going on. Lord knows I could use new bras.

The day before in my apartment, once I had done everything I needed to do and I was showered and was laying on the couch, I came to terms with what I needed to do. I needed change, and I needed to stop pretending that I was okay being alone and not putting my best version out there. I walked over to Tracy and began looking at the matching sets. She seemed pleased that I was looking with her.

"I'm really glad we can do this." She said quietly, "I feel like all my girlfriends have kids and are married. It's nice to have someone who's on my level."

"I'm happy to be here."

My phone buzzed again. This time, I had added a name to the ID.

J.D.: Anytime! By the way, your dad and I are getting some food! He asked if you were going to stop by for dinner?

Me: No, but I will see him Monday after class.

J.D.: class?

Me: Yes, I have school on Mondays and Tuesdays in the afternoon.

J.D.: Your dad says you never come over on Mondays??

Me: Well, I didn't see him today, so I will see him tomorrow.

J.D: he says he will be fine and that you worry too much.: p

I rolled my eyes and began typing again.

Me: Fine, tell him I will be over Wednesday.

J.D.: k! also, what are you studying in school?

Me: Does it matter?

J.D.: Does to me, you look like an English major, lol.

Me: No, business admin. And what the hell does an English major look like??

J.D: ...

He didn't write anything for a while, but the bubbles kept appearing and disappearing.

"Who are you texting, smiling like that?" I looked up, and Tracy was smiling back at me.

I shrugged, my smile dropping, "No one, this guy that's helping my dad out. He took him to therapy and out for dinner."

I showed her the picture, and her eyes widened, "Oh, he's cute." She leaned in, "You don't look like your dad."

I shook my head, "I look like my mom, especially when she was younger."

She nods, "And who's the cute guy?"

"J.D. he's an old family friend, I haven't seen him since I was a kid, he lives out here I guess and he fixes cars, and when I told my dad that I had plans today, he stepped in and helped me out." I smiled, closing the screen and walking towards the other side of the store with her.

"Well, that was nice of him." she followed close. "Does he have a girlfriend?"

I shrugged, "I'm not sure, but I can ask him for you if you want?"

She laughed and shook her head, "Not for me silly, for you!"

My eyes widened, and I laughed awkwardly, "What?"

"What? He is cute and nice, and if he's single, why not ask him out?" she pulled a random nighty and pressed it against her body, "oh yeah, wear this, I'm sure he would love that."

I laughed again and shook my head, pulling her out of the store.
