"Bhabhi! Aise kaun daudkar aata hai? Aapko kuch ho gaya toh?" An irritated Kartik asked Nandini who came runnning outside the house.

"Sorry baba. Tumhe late ho jayega. Maine bola bhi tha ki main chali jaungi hospital lekin nahi, tum sab jiddi ho." She said settling herself in the car with a pout playing on her lips.

Today is Nandini's check up and Manik has gone abroad for some important work so Kartik decided to take her to the hospital as he can't risk leaving her alone.

"Bhabi! Aap jaan ho iss ghar ki. Aapko hi agar kuch ho gaya toh humara kya hoga? Aapke bina jee nahi payenge hum." He said with the sadness flowing in his words making Nandini smile.

"Mujhe kuch nahi hoga. Tum sab ho na mera khayal rakhne ke liye. Aur vaise bhi tum sabka itna jaldi peecha nahi chodne wali main." Kartik chuckled and bobbed his head. She played some  music to erase the silence in the car. After like 20 minutes they reached the hospital.

"Bhabi, aap andar jaiye main aata hun." He instructed her to go inside as he was getting a phone call. She bobbed her head and entered inside the cabin of her doctor.

"Hello Mrs. Malhotra. How are you doing?" The doctor asked asking her to sit down. Nandini replied with a great smile.

"I'm doing great doctor. Thank you." The doctor smiled and continued with her interrogation. It lasted till 5 minutes.

"Let's do the ultrasound then." She bobbed her head and followed the doctor. The doctor applied the gel making her shiver. Soon they could see the baby on the screen.

"That's your baby Mrs. Malhotra."

"It looks so small." Listening her the doctor chuckled but frowned seeing something more making Nandini hell scared.

"Is everything okay doctor? The baby is fine right?" She asked worriedly just by thinking any harm to the child she would die there itself.

"The baby is fine. There is one more good news. You are expecting twins." That came a shock to her. Never in her life she had thought that she will be having twins. Happy tears flowed through her eyes looking the screen.

"Can I please get the copy of it?" She asked knowing she has to tell Manik anyhow today.

"Sure. I'll give you. Now please make sure you are more cautious about your movements, about your eating habits." The nurse helped Nandini to get cleaned and get back into the cabin. The doctor got busy in giving her new instructions.

The other side of the hospital

"Nahi Rohit, kisi aur din. Bhabhi ko hospital leke aaya hun. Kal milke project ka dekhte hai. Hmm. Chal bye." He cut the call after like really 20 minutes. He turned to go back to his bhabi when Naira passed him. He frowned.

"Yeh yahan kya kar rahi hai?" Instead of going to Nandini he followed Naira. He followed until he saw her entering in neurologist cabin making him scared.

"Hello Miss. Murthy, please have a seat." The doctor said making both nervous.

"Thank you. Doctor, I... I again faced the same problem. And I think I should go for the surgery." Naira said looking down making Kartik frown. The door slightly open.

"Are you sure? I have already said there are only 20% chance of your survival." As soon as the doctor Kartik barged inside making both startled.

"Mister, this a doctor's cabin. Jab aapka turn aayega tab aana." The doctor scolded him where as Naira was shocked seeing him there.

"What do you mean she has 20% of chances? What the hell is wrong with you?" He shouted making Naira flinch. The doctor got angry listening him.

"Do you know him?" The doctor asked to which she bobbed her head.

"He is my sister's brother-in-law." She replied meekly. He sat infront of the doctor.

"Tell me doctor! What is wrong with Naira?" He asked desperately making Naira scared and nervous.

"Kartik, don't. Just leave please." She said but his one glare was enough for her to keep quiet.

"I'm sorry, if the patient isn't ready to share with you then I'm no one to tell you. You may leave the cabin." Tje doctor said seeing Naira's scared condition which was only adding fuel to his anger.

"To hell with it. I have the right to know why she is here. You better tell me doctor. Because I'm damn sure she will never share with me or anyone from the family. Please." He requested so much that the doctor told him the reason which only caused his whole body to become numb.

"Ms. Naira has brain tumor. She has been facing this since 2 months. She is almost reaching to her last stage and I'm sorry to say if we do the surgery there will be only 20% of chances. Had she had listened to me from the start then she wouldn't have faced this situation today." As the doctor completed her sentence Kartik held Naira's hand in his tight grip making her scared.

"Doctor, the surgery will happen. You take her all the test and let us know the date." He said in a cold tone. The doctor bobbed his head and told the nurse to prepare for all tests.

"The nurse will call you soon. Please be seated in the waiting room." They bobbed their head and went out. While going out Kartik didn't leave her hand.

They were sitting quietly which was scaring her. She turned to look at him and speak.

"Kartik...."

"Bhabhi is here. I know you don't want to tell her. So just do the test and meet me outside." Saying this he left her hand and stood up as the nurse came to call them. Nair held back her tears and followed the nurse but in between she took glance of Kartik who was waiting outside for her.

Kartik was spaced out thinking about how the life has taken the change when his phone rang making him alert.

"Haan bhabhi?" He asked as Nandini called him.

"Kahan ho tum? Mujhe laga tum cabin ke bahar hoge." Listening her he sighed and replied.

"Ji aata hun. Woh, Naira milne aayi thi aapse toh hum dono canteen mein aa gaye. Aap parking lot mein rahiye hum aate hai."

"Theek hai." She accepted the condition and cut the call. He looked up to see Naira walking upto him.

Without saying anything he started walking towards the parking lot where as Naira was trying to talk to him but he wasn't paying attention to her. Once they reached the parking lot they saw Nandini waiting for them.

She smiled at them and waved her hand. Naira smiled brightly seeing her where as Kartik looked at Naira with a hurt expression on his face.

"Tum yahan hospital kyun aayi milne? Ghar nahi aa sakti thi kya?" Nandini asked hugging her.

"Bas main paas mein hi thi, toh socha mil lun aapse." Nandini bobbed her head and looked at Kartik but a frown came her face.

"Tum dono ne phir se jhagda kiya kya?" She asked to which they shook their head.

"Toh aisi shakal kyun banayi hai? Acha,woh sab chodo. Mujhe ice cream leni hai. Chalo jaldi ek news bhi batani hai sabko." They bobbed their head and settled in the car. Kartik wanted to speak to Naira so he had asked her to come with them only.

They bought ice cream and left to Malhotra house since Nandini had a news to tell everyone. Nandini settled on the couch told Naira to call at Murthy.

"Arey waah! Tu vahan pahuch gayi?" Alia asked as soon as she picked up the call. Naira chuckled and told her how she met Nandini and came to her house.

"How are you beta? And how is the baby?" Mr. Murthy asked settling himself of the couch. Nandini smiled brightly and looked at her family.

"Well, hum teeno theek hai." As soon as Nandini said all were confused until she showed them the ultrasound scan where they could see the two beans (babies) like structure making all happy.

"Wow! Twins! Yayyyyyy!" All screamed making Nandini laugh a loud. They all congratulated her. Abhimanyu hugged her and pecked forehead and Kartik hugged her tightly.

"Yayy! Main 2-2 babies ki massi banugi!!!!" They heard Naira screaming on top of her voice and Dhruv dancing beside her. Nandini smiled brightly seeing her all excited. Where as there was one person who was looking at her in deep concern/hurt/sad.

"How can someone be so much happy when they are deep down facing their own problem?" Kartik said in his mind thinking about her health issue. He looked away and wiped off the tears that came inspite of trying hard to control himself.

"Manik ko bataya?" Mr. Murthy asked making Nandini bite her lip and shake her head.

"Unko main baad mein bata dungi. Aap sab yahi ho toh socha aap sabko bata dun." Nandini replied and they all continued to talk.

Happiness was everywhere but 2 people's heart were crying. One being hopelessly selfless and other with tensed, concerned about his life's health.

Kartik loves her so much! He can literally feel the pain of Naira.
