Parker's POV

We sat in front of the bay, once again on a blanket at night where nobody could see us. We just stared at the quiet horizon that whispered the sweet sounds of water splashing against the wood. Tiana had herself curled up in a ball. It seemed like she was cold. I took off my jacket and laid it gently on her shoulders. She smiled slightly in thanks.

"I'm thinking of starting to collect your clothes. I look good in them," she said.

I want to give you all my clothes. I wanted to say. She looked better in them.

"Keep everything you get your hands on," I shrugged.

Her cheeks flushed bright red, and I couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking.

"I want to tell you something," she said, and my heart couldn't help but skip a beat. Her wide eyes looked black as we sat in the dark, and it was swirling me into the ultimate black hole. Was she going to say what I had wanted to say for such a long time?

"Wendy Storm, the woman I had called the other day asked me to meet her at the mall on Friday." Specifically, not what I had wanted to hear, but it was still great news. I hoped that Tiana wouldn't give up on finding out what her brother wanted to tell her. She propelled me to try and find out who my dad and twin was.

"That means tomorrow. Right? Since it's past midnight already." I smiled.

She sighed. "I hope it is her. And not some sort of prank."

"Do you want me to come with you?" I frowned. She seemed nervous to meet the woman.

"I wish you could, but she asked me to come alone. Just... come find me if I don't text you in ten minutes. Okay?" She grabbed my hand. "You know how much this is important to me, don't you?"

I nodded fiercely because I truly did. I knew it better than anyone else. As much as she wanted to find out about her brother, I wanted to find out about my twin and my father too. Family was family, through heartbreaks and even death. "Everything is safe with me. Your secrets, and you. I'll keep you safe no matter what happens Tiana."

She nodded. "Is there anything you want to tell me?"

I cocked my head to the right. Could she see through me?

"You seem quite busy these days. That's all." She shrugged.

I did want to tell her. I wanted to tell her that I had my dad's phone number right inside my pocket. Perhaps I could solve the mystery of what happened at the night of the incident of my mom. And also that I could truly be happy again. With her.

I wanted to tell her that I loved her.

I couldn't tell her about my father yet though. Not yet. I wanted to sort everything out on my own before telling her the whole story. I wanted to be someone who was worthy to date such an amazing person. Not someone who had done nothing to change his life for that past years.

Plus, she seemed quite busy dealing with her own issues too. I didn't want to give her another burden to think and worry about.

"Should I talk to someone else about this too?" Tiana asked.

I shrugged. "To whom?"

"Maybe Emma. Or... Charlie," she hesitated. I could see that she had mixed feelings toward him. She knew that the guy had a crush on her, anyone could see that from a mile away. But I wasn't even sure if she liked him in that way or not. Her actions were complicated.

"I guess you could tell Emma, but not Charlie." I smiled. "I'll get really jealous if I see you talking with him."

She laughed. "You never seem jealous."

"Oh believe me. I am a one hell of a jealous man." I chuckled.

I could see her blush even in the dark. She made my heart thump just by looking into her eyes.

"What is going on between us, Parker?" she whispered under her breath.

A million answers popped up inside my head.

Our relationship was a confusing mess. I liked her but sometimes made her feel uneasy by being kissed by the she-devil. She liked me but sometimes scared the hell out of me by being kidnapped by a lunatic. And after everything else, our relationship has gotten to be a blob to confusing shit. Shit it was, but having thought of it, Love was always like that. At least in the movies.

It's love when you still have it no matter what.

"I think we're falling for each other," I whispered back.

She smiled as if I had answered her question correctly. Her smile was like sunshine in the dark. It radiated something and ignited my chest, making my heartbeat faster again. Was it just my imagination, or was she coming closer?

Her face was about two inches away from mine, and was continuing to get closer. Her eyes were set on my lips... perhaps my nose if I were imagining everything. Her eyelids started to flutter gently as our faces grew near. I could feel her faint breath against my lips, and I couldn't help but gulp. When I looked up into her eyes, it was like she was hypnotizing me with her mesmerizing eyes.

"I want to kiss you," I said absentmindedly.

"You don't have to speak," she answered.

I swung my arm around her waist and pulled her towards me, our lips meeting immediately. First I moved softly, because I wasn't sure I was doing it right. But only a few minutes later I had no thoughts at all, just the feeling of her lips was all I cared about.

Soon, my tongue had found itself out of my mouth and into hers. The kiss started to get more heated as our tongues danced in their own rhythms. Sometimes we could hear footsteps pass us, but we didn't give a glance. We didn't care. At that moment, there were only the two of us in the whole world. We didn't give a damn of what anyone else thought.

I grinned at the thought that I was actually kissing the girl that I liked and loved. She grinned against my lips too, and it was the happiest sensation I had felt in such a long time.

I had always closed myself down to anyone. I didn't let people get close, nor did I get close to anyone myself. I had only needed my mother. But now, things were much too different from a month ago. Tiana had become such a big part of my life, I couldn't imagine being able to live without her.

Our lips moved in perfect sync, as if they were two puzzle pieces, finally whole by each other. The kiss lasted long, as we tried to savor every moment, wanting to stretch seconds into minutes and hours. Finally, when our lips parted, my lips felt puffy and I realized I was panting slightly. Tiana seemed aroused too, as she raked her fingers through her hair and smiled sheepishly.

"That was... perfect." I brushed her hair away from her face.

She nodded and smiled sheepishly.

"That was my first kiss, you know," I confessed.

Her eyes widened. "No way."

I chuckled. "Yes way. And I'm happy that it was with you."

The right side of her mouth tugged into an irresistible smile. I grabbed her cheeks and gave them a peck. She grinned.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" I asked before I knew what I was doing. Everything seemed so right, and now my body was doing so many things without my mind's permission.

Her face lightened up with a huge smile planted on her lips. She even slightly laughed. "I love it when you look at me like that. It's adorable." She wiggled her eyebrows.

"Is that a yes?" I licked my lips. I just wished she would answer my question. I was nervous.

"We should get home now," she said, and quickly looked around to gather her belongings. She was teasing me, and I wasn't the type to just give up on pestering her to answer.

I don't know what had gotten into me, but I leaned forward once more and trapped her in between my arms that stood firm against the wooden flooring. I loomed over her and she was shrunken down, surprised at my acts. "I don't want to end this yet," I rasped my voice in a whisper next to her ear. "I want you so bad, it literally hurts."

I could actually hear the sound of Tiana gulping and I couldn't help but smirk. She was so cute like this.

"I don't think that's a good idea. There are people passing around here..."

"Let's move our spot then. I know a place that's quiet and doesn't-"

"Parker, not like this. I don't want my first time to be like this." She slightly pushed me away and tucked away her notebook and phone into her bag. I could see her flushed cheeks and her eyebrows scrunched up in desperation to stop. She was nervous. She wasn't ready. She stood up and brushed her jeans from the dirt. "We should go."

It hurt, but I understood. She wasn't ready, and I could wait. No rush. No biggie. Heck, I wasn't sure if I was ready either. I nodded and smiled, packing the blankets and putting them back into the car.

When we got back home, I walked her to the front of her house and watched her climb the tree, making sure I would catch her if she fell. She safely got back into her room and I sighed. It was a content sigh, my stomach felt like it was full of warm flower tea.

"Psst!" Tiana called from her window.

I twirled around to see her changed into a tank top. Her body was always so beautiful.

"Aren't you leaving? You've been standing there for five minutes," she pointed out.

I laughed. "I don't want to leave."

She chuckled and shooed me off. "Yes Parker. My answer is yes. I would love to be your girlfriend."

Her voice rang through my ears like an alarm making my whole face burn. I nodded vigorously. "Bye," I said, and ran back to my house, wishing I could live the whole day over again.

Tiana: Miss you XOXO

Me: Miss you more, Tiana

Tiana: Miss you most XOXO

"Meesss you mossst," Nate mocked next to my ear with a squeaky voice. He pushed me away from him. "Stay away from me, you officially have the coodles."

"Having a girlfriend does not give you the coodles." I wagged my finger at him. "Stop being so jealous."

Nate slapped his hands against his thighs. "Jealous?" he bellowed. "You think I'm jealous just because of some stupid I miss you messages? I do them with my granny all the time. Beat that!"

I rolled my eyes. "One day, your turn will come Nate. Just be patient for it."

"Bee paeshent fo it," Nate mimicked with his squeaky voice again. "Why do you miss her already? We just got home from school. You were with her the whole day."

I placed a hand on his shoulder. "One day you'll understand my friend. One day."

Nate slapped my arm. "Don't try to comfort me, it won't make me feel better."

I eyed him keenly. "Are you gay?"

"WHAT?" Nate screamed, taken aback. "No! I am completely straight for your information! I don't feel tingly when I see Justin Bieber. I feel tingly when I see Selena Gomez! That means something now, doesn't it?"

I let out a breath. "Okay, that's out of my system."

"Maybe I should snatch Tiana away from you. Clearly, she was more interested in me when she first saw us." Nate tried to tickle me with a sneaky smile.

I threw a pillow at him. "Then get a life!"

"I have a life! Most of it is about spending it with you and your stinky feet!" Nate waved his hands in the air.

"Okay okay. You love me. I get it."

"Don't get so caught up in yourself, Parker. One day, I'll love my girlfriend more than you and you'll be crying all over me. Nate! Come back! I need you!" He reached out and acted as Romeo.

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes. My phone beeped and I went back to messaging with Tiana.

Tiana: I'm going to meet Wendy Storm today. Wish me luck!

Me: Call me when you get back.

Tiana: Maybe, maybe not XOXO

Me: Oh, so you're going to be like that? :p

Tiana: I love it. XOXO You one hell of a jealous man.

Me: I should never have said that.

"Stop texting her! Give me some attention here! I'm wearing a balloon hat on my head with a fake mustache! You love fake mustaches!" Nate whined. "That girl has gotten you spoiled!"

"First, you do not have a fake mustache or a balloon hat. Second, I do not love fake mustaches. Third, this girl gives life to me." I rolled my eyes at him.

Nate sighed. "Come on, you're going to be late for the soccer try out. Are you just going to sit here waiting for her texts full of Xs and Os? What is it with her Xs and Os anyway?"

"Fine, let's go. Let me just find my soccer shoes," I said, getting up from my armchair and looking under the bed for my favorite pair. "And I think the Xs and Os are kinda cute," I mumbled back.

Thankfully, Nate didn't seem to catch that last part. He would have thrown a fit and a new lecture about how X and O were 7 letters away from each other."What color are they?" Nate asked as he swung an arm over my shoulder.

"Blue."

"Obviously. Why did I even bother to ask?" Nate snorted.

We walked to school as I continually texted Tiana to keep safe even though she wasn't answering anymore. I hoped nothing would happen and Wendy Storm was a nice lady whom Peter had trusted. He surely wouldn't have left his sister the phone number of a criminal, would he?

"Hey." Nate snapped his fingers in front of my face. "Pay attention to me when I'm talking, kappesh?"

"Sorry."

"Okay then, I told you that the captain of the soccer team is Dustin Mapleheim. I also told you how awful he is at leading the team. I also told you how our soccer team sucks. And finally I told you that you're a hippopotamus," Nate repeated.

"Roger that," I confirmed.

"Since I'm the most wonderful friend you'll absolutely ever have, I have asked Dustin to let you try out for the team. So this is like a special offer. You can't let me down, copy that?"

"I can't let you down. Got it."

"That's my boy." Nate petted me like a puppy. "You're a cute hippo."

We arrived at the school soccer field in five minutes. Nate was thrilled to see me play soccer, since I hadn't shown anyone how I played. Nate even took out a camcorder and started to record me.

"How do you feel Parker? You ready for this?" he asked, aiming the camera toward my face. He got in a little too close and I'm pretty sure the video was only recording my nose.

"I feel great, dad. I feel like I'm growing up," I said sarcastically.

He patted me on the back. "I'm so proud of you. Now smile for the video! I can't believe my boy is a big boy now. I've got this all on tape." He faked a tear.

"Are you Parker?" Dustin clapped his hands as he asked me.

"Yeah, that's me."

Dustin nodded to one of his friends. They passed him a soccer ball which he passed to me. "There are three rules in our try outs. One, nobody gets hurt, so no playing dirty."

I nodded.

"Two, don't be rude, we all are on the same side." He was squinting so hard, his eyes were literally as this as button holes. "Third, you have to get past me and score."

"Thanks." I smiled.

"Now let's get this over with. Show me what you've got."
