We're Going To War

The next day was pretty boring. Rick, Michonne, and Carl went out to look for more weapons that they might need in their fight against the Governor. Parker, who was still battling her injury, was helped by Daryl to change the bandages, before taking a nap. Hershel warned her that her moving around too much would cause more harm than good, and when he checked the wound, he told her she needed to stop doing so much around the prison. Such as bed rest.. like she was told before.

"How long do I need these stitches?" Parker asked him as made sure the bandages were on right.

"Usually a couple of weeks," Hershel replied, sitting up. "But if you listened, I might be able to get them out sooner."

"Well, we all know that's not going to happen," Parker pulled her shirt back down, looking back at Hershel who didn't approve of her response. "So, a couple of weeks, yeah?"

"Yes," Hershel sighed defeatedly knowing she would end up doing the exact opposite either way. "Just.. try to relax." And she did. Parker took it in stride when Rick announced he was interested in meeting with the Governor, since Andrea organized a meeting between them, she wasn't allowed to go. Instead, she was forced to remain in the prison, 'resting' while Daryl, Rick, and Hershel left to do all the fun stuff. Parker, who hated being stuck doing nothing, spent the rest of her day with the remaining group members, checking out weapons that Carl, Rick, and Michonne had brought back. They were loading the guns with ammo, and Glenn was apparently carrying the role of leader with ease.

"Carl, come here," Glenn called him over, handing him a box of ammo. "You stash these at the loading dock, alright? Beth put more up on the catwalk." Carl and Beth took the boxes of ammo and walked away.

"What's the point in spreading out the ammo?" Parker glanced up from the gun she was cleaning.

"If anyone gets pinned down we need to make sure they have plenty of ammo," Glenn stated loudly, looking around at them.

"Smart." Parker hummed, watching as he grabbed some supplies.

"I'm gonna go work on the cage outside."

"What we should be doin' is loading some of this firepower in a truck and payin' a visit to the Governor," Merle added his two-sense, not even bothering to help them out. Mainly cause none of them wanted him to. "We know where he is right now"

"Are you suggesting we just go in there and kill him?" Parker dropped the gun she was working on, resting a hand on the table as she heaved a sigh. She eyed Merle, waiting for some gross comment that was inevitable.

"Yeah, I am." Merle retorted, leaning on the wired cage.

"We told Rick and Daryl that we'd stay put," Michonne reminded him, her voice firm.

"I've changed my mind, sweetheart," Merle shrugged. "Being on the sideline with my brother out there.." He shook his head, staring at Parker. "Ain't sitting right with me."

"We have three of our people out there. If we go in there guns a blazing, they're going to be right in the middle of it." Parker explained to him, his plan sounding insane to the rest of them.

"She's right. They could get kidnapped or killed." Glenn spat, his patience with Merle practically nonexistent.

"A thousand things could go wrong," Parker simply said.

"And they will," Merle argued, Carl turned to him, starting to get upset.

"My dad can take care of himself."

"Sorry son, but your dad's head could be on a pike real soon." Carl glared at him, climbing the steps, and pushing the gate open.

"Don't say that to him! What the hell is wrong with you?" Parker snapped, pointing to Carl as he slammed the gates closed behind him. Merle didn't seem the least bit sorry for what he said, his mouth open about to answer her. "Wait." She held up a hand, "Don't answer that. I honestly could not care less."

"It's not the right move. Not now. Can't take the risk of putting them in the crossfire," Glenn ended the conversation on the topic there. No one seemed to disagree on the matter. "That's my decision. It's final." Merle stepped forward with a bag, choosing some weapons and stuffing them in it as Glenn headed outside. Parker walked over, grabbing the rifle Merle reached for, pushing it out of his reach.

"Hey, you're not going," She kept a tight grip around it when he tried to take it back.

"I don't need permission," Merle replied.

"I can't let you go," Parker looked him dead in the eyes.

"You can't stop me, sister," Merle countered, looking at her. "I guess I can call you that now, huh? After all, you're sleeping with my brother, right? It's a damn shame because I would have loved to take you somewhere quiet and-"

"Okay, shut up and listen for once in your life!" Parker snapped, trying to suppress the anger and a couple of homicidal thoughts bubbling inside her as she gritted her teeth. "If you're going to live here with us, it's going to be on our terms. And that means not talking about what you want to do with me. It's quite frankly disgusting and you might lose your other hand."

"If Michonne can do it, why can't you?" Maggie yelled after him when he started walking away and Glenn walked back, realizing what was happening. He stood in front of the only exit, a rifle in his hands as he blocked Merle's path.

"Cause it's my brother out there, that's why," Merle answered angrily. "What's the matter with y'all?!"

"My brother is out there too," Parker spat, standing in front of him. "My brother and my boyfriend."

"Boyfriend, huh?" Merle laughed. "I never thought I'd see the day when my little brother pulled a woman like you." Parker rolled her eyes at his remark.

"You're not going, Merle." Merle walked up the steps, but Glenn stopped him and pushed him back slightly.

"I'm not going to let you put them in danger."

"Nut up already, boy," Merle ground out through clenched teeth. "This guy cops a feel of your woman, and you pussy out like this?" Even from this distance, Parker saw the flash of anger on Glenn's face when Merle shoved him. "Get out of my way."

"No." Without another word, Merle dropped his bag and tackled Glenn, the two rolling down the steps and falling to the concrete floor exchanging punches before Merle raised his arm and attempted to stab Glenn. Maggie jumped on his back and her arm hooked around his neck, stopping him from killing Glenn while Michonne grabbed Merle's arm. Parker was about to yell at them to stop when a gunshot made her flinch. Beth lowered the gun, looking at the adults who were acting more like children, and Parker walked over to them.

"Stop fighting. This is not what we need right now. You need to know that we are here and we're all trying to do what needs to be done. Merle, you're not leaving, so get over it, okay?"

"Alright, sunshine," Merle shoved Glenn away as he stood up. "But don't think I won't hit you just because my brother likes you."

"I'd like to see you try," Parker responded. "And, hey, Merle. Don't think I won't shoot you just because I like your brother." Merle whistled at her comment before a smile spread across his face, clearly impressed. The rest of the day was spent keeping watch outside, and when Maggie mysteriously disappeared while Glenn was on guard, it didn't take Parker long to figure out what they were doing. She and Beth laughed, and even though they were supposed to be on guard, Parker couldn't blame them. Privacy is privacy. When Rick returned with Hershel and Daryl, Parker was the first to come out to greet them. She overlooked Rick, who didn't even seem too surprised by it and went to Daryl, hugging him. "Hey."

"Hey," Daryl responded, kissing her forehead. "You good?" She nodded.

"Yeah, what about you?"

"I'm alright."

"Let's get inside," Rick nodded towards the prison, scanning the woods. He walked ahead, prompting everyone to head to the cell block. Once inside, and once everyone had gathered around, Rick stood in the center of the group. "So, I met this Governor. Sat with him for quite a while."

"Just the two of you?" Merle asked, to which Rick nodded. Merle looked at Parker and Glenn. "We should have gone when we had the chance."

"He wants the prison," Rick informed them, summing up what his meeting was about. "He wants us gone. Dead. He wants us dead... for what we did to Woodbury."

"We're not leaving, are we?" Parker asked, looking around at everyone else, they were all wondering the same thing. She knew that look in Rick's eyes. A darkness behind his eyes told her he was forming a plan, preparing for the inevitable fight that was about to come their way. And the Governor thought he owned them, so Rick was there to prove him otherwise. To prove that everyone deserves a place in this world.

"We're going to war." With that, he walked away. Leaving them to question what they wanted to do next. And if they were going to stay and fight. Or pack their things and run.
