The Search Is On

Randall was missing. The boy had disappeared and no one knew where he had gone. Parker stayed outside the barn while Rick and Daryl inspected the scene for clues. They found the handcuffs Randall was wearing, covered in blood, along with a completely closed door. He couldn't have escaped from there. It didn't seem possible. It wasn't.

"What's wrong?" Lori asked walking over with everyone.

"Randall is missing," Parker responded.

"Missing? How?" Andrea asked.

"Missing as in he isn't there anymore." Parker answered giving Andrea a 'really?' look. "I thought that was pretty obvious."

"How long do you think he's been gone?" Hershel asked as everyone started coming over, joining the four of them.

"It's hard to say," Rick replied. "The handcuffs are still hooked. He must have slipped 'em."

"Is that possible?" Carol asked nervously.

"It is if you've got nothing to lose," Andrea walked out behind Rick after doing a quick search for herself.

"The door was secured from the outside," Hershel pointed out as he shut it.

"There's physically no way he could have gotten out," Parker mumbled trying to figure out how he could have gotten out on his own without anyone realizing until now.

"Rick!" Shane shouted, appearing from the trees. "Rick!"

"What happened?" Lori shouted.

"He's armed!" Shane yelled back, walking towards them. "He's got my gun!"

"Are you okay?" Carl asked anxiously as they all noticed the blood gushing from his nose, the lower half of his face stained red.

"I'm fine," Shane replied. "Little bastard just snuck up on me, he clocked me in the face." He turned to Parker, a dark look in his eyes. "This is your fault. If you had just shut up and let us deal with him when we had the chance-"

"How is this my fault?!" Parker asked, angrily, tired of being pushed around by him. "You kept him locked up like he was some sort of fucking prisoner, of course, he's going to want to escape. But there's no way he could have done it alone, not with the door locked from this side."

"What are you saying?" Shane asked, taking a step closer to Parker, who instantly took a step back. Daryl observed the two, preparing to step in. "Are you saying I had something to do with this?"

"I don't know, maybe. Did you? It wouldn't surprise m-" She stumbled backward after he shoved her, her eyes widening in fear. "Come on at least be a man and throw a punch." Daryl pushed between Shane and Parker.

"That's enough. We have bigger problems."

"Alright. Hershel, T-Dog, get everybody back in the house," Rick demanded. "Glenn, Daryl, come with us."

"And Parker," Parker added to no one in particular, following after them.

"T!" Shane holding an empty hand out to him. "I'm gonna need that gun."

"Just let him go," Carol stuttered. "That was the plan, wasn't it? Just let him go?"

"The plan was to cut him loose far away from here, not on our front step with a gun," Rick responded.

"Don't go out there!" Carol shouted. "Y'all don't know what can happen."

"Get everybody back in the house," Rick ordered. "Lock all the doors and stay put!" Parker ran after the men as they headed to the woods even though she knew Rick wouldn't be impressed. When he saw Parker walking next to Daryl, he sighed. "Parker, go back!" Rick demanded. "It's not safe."

"No," Parker protested. "I won't let you go out alone."

"It's okay," Daryl told Rick. "She's staying with me, ain't she?" He gave her a look and she just smiled. Parker raised an eyebrow seeing that he was being serious.

"Yes, mom. Oh shit, sorry. Yes ma'am."

"I saw him head up through the trees that way before I blacked out," Shane explained. "I'm not sure how long."

"He couldn't have gone far," Rick said. "He's hobbled, exhausted."

"And armed," Glenn added.

"So are we," Rick replied, pointing at Daryl. "Can you track him?"

"No, I don't see nothing."

"Hey, look, there ain't no use in tracking him, okay?" Shane said when Parker looked at him there was nothing but anger in his eyes. "He went that way. We just need to pair up. We spread, we just chase him down. That's it."

"Kid weighs a buck twenty-five soaking wet," Daryl said, turning to Shane. "You're trying to tell us he got the jump on you?"

"I'd say a rock pretty much evens those odds, wouldn't you?" Shane asked rhetorically.

"Alright, knock it off." Rick sighed, pointing at Daryl. "You, Glenn, and Parker start heading up the right flank. Me and Shane will take the left. Remember, Randall's not the only threat out there. Keep an eye out for each other."

"You're right. He's not the only threat." Parker looked directly at Shane as she said it. "Be careful, Rick." Rick nodded.

"You too." They searched for him until nightfall, and that's when Parker knew something wasn't right. She had a funny feeling before parting with Rick and Shane, but it was as if that feeling had intensified

"Guys, something doesn't feel right."

"What do you mean?" Glenn asked, the fear in his voice had been there since they figured out Randall had escaped.

"Something in my gut tells me it's a bad idea," Parker explained. "Look at the facts. Shane... he hasn't been the same lately. He wanted Randall dead, and he's wanted Rick gone for a long time."

"Why?" Glenn asked.

"Shane.. and Lori," Parker sighed. "Look, this doesn't make sense. It's dark and I'm cold and we're no closer to finding him than we were three hours ago. We have to find Rick and Shane."

"This is pointless. You got a light?" Daryl asked, taking the flashing from Glenn. He sighed in irritation. "Come on."

"I hate the dark," Parker murmured, sticking close to the two.

"We're just back to square one," Glenn whispered once they went back to where they had started.

"I'm pretty sure this is the exact opposite of helping if we just went in one massive circle."

"If you're gonna do a thing, might as well do it right.".

"Guys, I'm telling you, something doesn't feel right," Parker complained. "I'm worried about Rick. Something's wrong."

"How can you know that?" Daryl asked.

"Because he's my brother," Parker huffed. "He broke his arm when he was twelve when he fell from a tree and I knew he was hurt even though he was at a friend's house. I don't know.. it's like some creepy sibling intuition thing."

"Voodoo," Daryl murmured. "It's probably nothin'."

"I'm telling you, something is wrong!" Parker repeated more urgently this time. Daryl stopped, shining the flashlight on the ground.

"There's two sets of tracks right here. Shane must have followed him a lot longer than he said."

"There's fresh blood on this tree," Parker added, pointing at it as Daryl shined his flashlight on it. She raised her hand just above her head, measuring it against the bloodstain on the tree. "About Shane's height."

"There's more tracks," Daryl nodded at them. "It looks like they were walking in tandem." Glenn bumped into Daryl while he was distracted. Earning a glare from Daryl, Glenn backed up using Parker as a shield.

"Sorry."

"Yeah, there was a little dust-up right here," Daryl pointed out.

"Get away from me," Parker gently pushed him away laughing at the terrified look he had on his face.

"What do you mean?" Glenn questioned, keeping a safe distance between himself and Daryl.

"I mean something went down," Daryl responded.

"Something that doesn't involve Shane getting hit in the face with a rock," Parker mumbled knowing that their ideas about Shane being a part of this were most likely right.

"It's getting weird," Glenn whined with a small sigh.

"Had a little trouble," Daryl continued, picking up the bandana they had used on Randall. There was a rustle in the trees behind them, and the trio ran behind two trees. Daryl whistled lightly and tossed the flashlight at Glenn, and Parker pulled out her knife. She peeked out from behind the tree and saw the walker stumbling through the shadows. Glenn raised his gun and turned to kill the walker, but hesitated when he realized it was Randall. When the light from his flashlight hit Randall's face, he grunted and threw Glenn to the ground. Daryl shot an arrow and missed, prompting Randall to attack him. Parker reacted instantly, stabbing her knife into the back of Randall's head and letting his body fall to the ground.

"Nice," Daryl congratulated her. "Thanks for that."

"I told you I had your back," Parker offered him a small smile, crouching down next to Randall's body. She pointed to his neck. "His neck is broken. You can tell from the bruising." Daryl turned Randall over and checked him for bite marks.

"He's got no bites."

"Yeah, none you can see," Glenn chuckled nervously, knowing he didn't notice any either.

"I mean if you believe a walker bit his dick then peek away, Glenn. You would have seen a rip in his clothing if there were a bite on him though."

"No, I'm telling you, he died from this," Daryl insisted, looking between the two.

"How is that even possible?" Parker asked, before gasping. "We have to find Rick. I was right, he's in trouble!" When she stood up, Daryl took her hand.

"You can't just run away in the dark."

"We have to find him," Parker repeated. "I told you, Shane wants him dead. We have to stop him. He's going to kill my brother."

"Alright," Daryl sighed, retrieving his arow that was embedded in the ground. "Let's go."
