Tanvi's POV:

It has been a week since the fest is over. I badly miss it. Being back to normal classes and studies is too irritating. Why couldn't the fest continue for a week time? I thought, but then I sighed at my own stupid thought.

Currently, I am getting ready to go to college. Actually, today we are meeting our HOD, Chancellor, and few of our senior faculty of our university because our team is the only one that won a prize in a tech fest after many years. So Ajay, Sarthak, and I will be visiting all of them.

Day before yesterday, Ajay informed me of this sudden meeting. After the fest, Ajay and I have become quite close, or I must say he is trying to get close with me. He messages me and calls me whenever he is free. Well, I see him as a friend and a senior. That's it. Hope he doesn't get high hopes from me.

And there's no need to remember about his friend and the 'Bahubali'. Though we met many times in our CSE block, he never cared to wish me or at least smile back when I smile at him. He literally treats me like a stranger. Of course, I didn't expect such etiquettes from him either, but his rude and arrogant nature kind of disturbs me. But now, I have to face him and tag along with them to the faculty.

Finally, after I was done getting ready, I was on my way to meet the other two. Fortunately, Jiya was accompanying along with me. After she won the dance event, she became a diva in our college and even outside. Her Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp accounts were filled with many unknown messages, requests asking for dates, and even many proposals. Pity her! She is getting fed up with all this unnecessary attention.

"Where will they be?" Jiya asked me as we were walking down the path.

"Just some distance ahead," I replied, and we continued ambling.

There I saw Ajay, who was checking his phone. He was wearing a formal shirt and pant as if he would be attending an interview. In a way, it feels like we were indeed attending one. We both reached him and noticing us, he lifted his head and greeted us with a warm smile.

"Hi," he said to both of us, and we wished him back.

"So, where's the party, Ajay?" Jiya asked him and winked at me. Ajay noticed that wink and laughed at her.

"You must give us a party, Jiya. You became the dazzling diva of our university, and apart from all that, you received more money than us. So, you give us the treat," Ajay said playfully which made her fell in her own pit.

I laughed, seeing Jiya's confused face, and said, "Yeah, Jiya. Indeed, you must give all of us a treat. After all, we only got 10k, while you got 25k. Give us a party."

Jiya raised her hands in surrender, and all of us laughed for a moment. Then Ajay said, "Ok, we will plan a outing together. All four of us when we are free. Done?"

Jiya and I immediately agreed for that proposal.

"So, where is Sarthak?" I asked Ajay after a moment of silence. It was already 9:40 am and we had been there for the past 15minutes.

"Well, he went for some lab practical submission. Even I am trying to reach him, but my phone doesn't have signal," he explained.

I nodded my head. After a minute, he asked for my phone to call him, and I gave him. Fortunately, my phone had a signal, and Ajay was able to get through to Sarthak's number. He went aside from us while we waited for some more time.

Then Ajay came back to us. He handed my phone back to me and said, "Tanvi, try to reach him out to him again, while I will go and look for him."

Saying this he left the place, and I opened my call log to dial his number. Then the sight of the call logs shocked me. Within five minutes, Ajay called him 23 times. I turned to him ask him that, but he was already out of sight. I sighed and thought, 'Maybe he is busy.' And I waited for a few moments, chatting with Jiya.

Suddenly, my phone started ringing, and it was Sarthak's number. I answered the call without a second thought and said, "Hello?"

I waited for a reply, but nothing came by. I checked it whether the call got ended or something, but he was still on line. "Hello?" I said again thinking his phone might nor have signal.

Then, Jiya tapped my shoulder and pointed in a direction. I glimpsed  that way to find him standing across from us. He was looking at me, with a deep expression. I waved my hand to show him the location I was standing at before ending the call. I ended the call and expected him to march forward, but he was still rooted in his place, staring at me. That look literally gave me creeps.

"What happened to him?" I asked Jiya, who was also noticing him. She shrugged her shoulders and kept looking at him suspiciously. Then I saw him walking towards us in long strides. Now that grim expression is replaced by fury and anger. Now what did I do? I thought.

"Don't you have any other work? Or is this your only aim in your life? Calling unknown people, Disturbing them? Don't you have any shame? If I am not answering the call then that means I am busy with some other work. Don't you have the minimum manners of not calling again and again IF THAT PERSON IS NOT INTERESTED TO TALK TO YOU?" he barked at me. Especially the last few words even more loudly.

I was frozen at the spot like a statue.

All the time he was shouting at me, I didn't blink, maintaining a steady eye contact with his dark and cold eyes. For a moment, nothing was getting registered in my mind, though they were reaching my ears. He was just a few feet away from me, and I could feel the anger passing through his veins. We both stood facing one another without saying anything. Well, what was there for me to say?

Finally, after what it felt like an eternity, I was bought back into reality when Jiya placed a hand on my shoulder and shouted on him, "Excuse me? What do you think of yourself, huh? Do you think you are some king or what? And for your kind information, my friend didn't call you those many times. It's your friend, Ajay who took her phone and dialed you. She never called you."

Unlike before times, this time I was angry. Very much. Though his words again reminded me of my past memories, I didn't became sad and guilty. I was on the verge of an explosion, but controlled myself and waited for his reaction. After listening to Jiya, he turned calm, and I could see a little bit of guilt in his eyes, but he didn't say anything. And I hated his silence.

We both were brought out of our deadly eye lock when Ajay shouted for us. He came behind from Sarthak and approached us.

"Hey, R.S., What took you so long? I had called you from my number and her number, but you didn't answer once?" he stopped his sentence, observing our facial expressions, and grasped the seriousness of the atmosphere. He looked at all of us and said, "What happened? Why is everyone serious?"

Jiya was about to say something, but I cut her off and said, "Nothing. Shall we go to them? I want to leave quickly."

I asked him very seriously and without waiting for his reply, I started marching towards the office room. Before leaving, I told Jiya I would be back fast and asked her to wait, to which she nodded. I went more than halfway and didn't notice their presence. Then I turned back to find them taking big steps in my direction. I again turned around and reached the HOD's room first.

We entered together, and our HOD congratulated us for our merit, asking us about our experience and about the app we build. Unfortunately, I had lost all my interest in the discussion. I merely spoke out in monosyllables and faked a smile, so that he wouldn't ask me what happened. Even that person didn't involve in the discussion. Only Ajay handled everything and responded to our HOD. The only thought that was running in my head was when I could get away from this person, and to my luck, the HOD let us go early, and our chancellor was not present. So, no need to visit him.

After coming out of his room, I started walking without waiting for them and not paying any heed to Ajay's calls. Out of blue, Ajay held my wrist from behind to stop me. I stopped and turned back to see him panting hard while his friend had a blank expression.

"What happened? Did he say something again? When I asked Jiya, she told me to ask him and when I ask him, he is not saying anything. What happened?" he asked, breathing heavily.

I glimpsed at our hands and then at him, he understood my intention and left my hand, waiting for my reply.

I looked at him and then at his friend, who was looking at me intently. I thought he would again say something rude to me, but all the while, he remained silent. I again looked at Ajay and said, "Nothing Ajay. Nothing new has happened, which I am not getting habituated to. As usual, your friend again got a reason to show his anger on me because I am his prey, right? Ever since I stepped into this campus, I became a doll for him to shout at, and now I am fed up with all this. Thankfully, everything is over, right? There is no need for to collaborate again. Hope he can be peaceful."

I said the last word looking at him, into his eyes, and turned away to leave, but I stopped again. This time I whirled and passed by Ajay, and going near him. I noticed Ajay's face. His face held disappointment and remorse while the person ahead again had a deep expression, which I couldn't name.

I stood before him, "I don't think we are enemies or our families are enemies for you to hate me. Then why? I don't know you before, and neither do you know me before. So, what is your problem? If I ever caused you any trouble, then I am sorry. I am really very sorry. I don't want to be the prey whenever you wanna vent out anger. I hope we never cross each other's path again."

I meant each and every word to him. This time, I could see pain and guilt in his eyes, but I couldn't care less and left the place immediately without even saying bye to Ajay.

I wished the same thing again, 'Should never cross paths with him ever in my life.'
