Though many people were against it, many agreed as well.
Every Time I looked at Gally, he gave me a nasty look. Like it was a bad idea to make Thomas a runner. Was there any reason not to though? He was made for running. He killed a griever, ran into the maze seconds before the gates closed, and technically save Albys life.

Speak of the devil, before bed I decided to check up on him.

"He hasn't woken up yet has he?" I asked, walking to Alby, who was laying down in on the bed.
"He got bitten in the maze" said Winston "There are chances he's brain dead. You can examine him"

I felt a tear form, but quickly wiped it away. I was kind of everything in the maze. A bit of a builder, a little of a cook (very little), a runner (mostly), and a medic. The reason why I sometimes assist the medics is because, well I know anatomy by reading those medical books that were sent.

I walked over to Alby, whose eye didn't even twitch.
I started to lift up his shirt to see the bite, when all of a sudden his eyes sprung open, and his spine pushed up towards me.

"They're coming! Tomorrow! They'll come!... They'll come....." He yelled, with his voice getting quieter with each statement.

Winston and the others pushed Alby back, while I backed away.

I felt like an idiot. I did absolutely nothing to help them.

I quietly left the shed.

I was laying in my hammock, trying to fall asleep. I cant sleep while I'm stressed. Albys on the verge of dying, my notebook is still missing, and Thomas hd just became a runner.

I heard Thomas talking to Minho.

"We should check out the grievers corpse tomorrow" suggested Tom.

Does he have a death wish or something?

"Do you have a death wish? Barely made it out today" said Minho, as if he read my mind.

"Don't tell me your not even a little bit curious?" He asked

"Fine. we'll go, but first, I'll show you something"

"Alright"

"And Mels coming with us"

None of them said a word.

A griever shrieked, and Minho told Thomas to tuck in.

Minho fell asleep instantly, as I heard him snore.

I was about to fall asleep, when I felt someone kiss my forehead.

I opened my eyes just a bit, and saw Thomas hovering over me.

"You tired?" I asked, putting my hand on top of his so he wouldn't leave.

"Yeah..." He said, wiping his face with the other hand.

"Lay down next to me" I said.

He did so.

I snuggled beside him, and we both dozed off into the night.

"Rise and shine, newly weds" We heard Minho say.

Thomas got off the hammock as quick as he could, after he saw Minho.

I wiped my eyes, and sat at the edge of the hammock.

"Come one Mel. We need to show Thomas the runners home" said Minho.

I gently smiled, as I knew exactly what he was talking about.

While we were walking to the runners home, Thomas was asking a lot of questions about it, but all Minho and I answered was :
"You'll see"

Minho opened the door, and I saw an improved map of the maze with more clues than ever.

"You made this?" Asked Thomas.

"Me and Mel did" said Minho, and glanced over at me.

"How long did it take you to build this?"

I wanted to answer, but I let Minho. Instead, I observed the room, and found my notebook laying on the floor.

A wave of relieve washed my body.

I picked it up, only to find that all the pages have been ripped out.

"Minho, where did you get this?" I asked him.

"Oh Gally gave it to me" he answered.

"With no pages?"

"No... He said I could use it as a folder"

I grabbed the empty book, and dashed out of the room, and went out to find Gally.

He was poking a fire, that had already dried out.

"Gally!" I yelled.

He, and a couple of other gladers turned around.

"What is it Mel?" He asked.

I saw the dark black circle he had under his eye, but it was nothing like be ones I had faded on my arm, or my neck, or like the healing cuts on my arm and legs.

"Where are the pages?!" I exclaimed, holding up the notebook.

"I don't know what you are talking about" he said.

"Yes you do" I said.

"No I do not"

I looked over to the burnt fire he was poking at, and saw crispy pages. Pages that I had in the notebook.

"Yes you do, shuckface" I said, and walked away frustrated.
I didn't want to start fighting with him. Already had enough fights with him.

Minho, Thomas, and I, started walking into the maze to find the griever.

On the way there, Minho asked me:
"You do have your memory. Right?"

"Correct" I answered.

"Must be great knowing your family" he sighed.

"No not really..."

"What? How come?" Asked Thomas.

"My mom was a crank, and—"

"A what?" They both asked.

"Cranks. Its what people in cities call the infected. The virus that spread everywhere like wildfire. Those grievers, carry it as well. If you get stung, you're screwed, like we saw with Ben and Alby... One of the worst things is that its a man-made virus, and there's no real cure" I replied

"How come we didn't get the virus? Or Winston?" Asked Thomas.

"It doesn't show that quickly. Thats all I know about it" I explained.

"It's so painful to see the infected suffer... Wonder how they feel" said Minho.

I beg we were all thinking the same thing. Save Alby? Or kill him and put him out of his misery?
Though there was nothing we could do to save him...

"Continue with your story Mel..." Said Thomas, trying to change the subject we were all thinking about.

"My mom was pretty much not in my life, as well as my dad. He left after he found out my mom was a crank" I answered.

"Did you have anyone else besides your parents?" Asked Minho.

"I had a sister. Her name was Teresa"
