I've been updating a lot lately so this chapter is short!

HARRY

I stand up and pick up the rest of the dirty plates left on the table while everyone else continues to chatter. My mum decided to have a 'welcome home dinner' for me and the lads, Niall wasn't able to join us but Liam, Louis, and Zayn were able too. My mum gives me a thankful smile as I walk past her carrying the plates, pushing the swinging door in the kitchen with my back and setting the plates in the sink.

I lean against the counter and drop my head, I am exhausted and want nothing more then to sleep, but I've been busy with my family since the moment I got home, being hounded with questions about the tour and the places I've been that I haven't even gotten a chance to give Kay a call. I miss her already, and she hasn't left my mind for one second.

Thinking of her, I glance at the door to make sure no one else is going to come rushing in and when I see that the kitchen is silent, I pull out my phone and unlock the screen, dialing Kay.

I look down at the floor, and bite my nail nervously as I listen to her phone ring several times before going to voicemail. Why didn't she answer? Is she okay? I start to panic a little and then argue with myself that she's probably still sleeping, she sleeps past noon sometimes so she might be doing that or... I don't know what else she could be doing actually. She doesn't really have any friends.

Oh God. She doesn't have any friends.

Why the hell did I leave her when she has no one else? Growing more anxious I decide I'll send her a text since she didn't answer. If she doesn't respond in the next two hours I am hopping on the next plane out there.

I watch the message send and look up when I hear the kitchen door swing open. Nicole walks in carrying two more plates, and I move aside so she can dump them in the sink. I stare down at my phone, refusing to make eye contact with her and am about to walk out of the kitchen when she stops me, grabbing my arm.

"Harry, can we talk?" She asks, her eyes big.

I snatch my arm away. "No. I didn't even want you here but my mum invited you so that is the only reason I haven't thrown you out yet. What makes you think I want to speak to you?" I say, my voice low and angry.

"Because I want to apologize, and I have something I need to tell you."

"Apologize for what?" My voice rises. "For embarrassing Kaydence in front of all our friends and family? Or for being a complete bitch to her? I have no idea what game you're trying to play but keep me and my girlfriend out of it."

She presses her lips into a hard line, and quickly grabs my arm again and drags me out the side door. She closes the door behind her and stands in front it, blocking my way from going back inside.

"Get out of the way." I say, my voice threatening.

She shakes her head, and stays exactly where she is. "Just hear me out okay?"

I clench my jaw and look out towards the backyard. "Hurry up. You have two minutes."

She sighs, and fiddles with her fingers, nervously clamping them together. "I didn't mean to embarrass Kaydence, well I mean I did but I didn't mean for it to cause problems between you too."

I snort sarcastically. "That's a load of shit."

She looks down at her hands, guilty. "Okay...So I did mean for it to cause problems, I didn't think you knew but I guess you did."

"Of coarse I knew. Kay had already told me so all you did was embarrass her in front of my family and the rest of the lads too."

She hangs her head. "I know, okay? I feel like an arse."

"You are."

She looks away from me and I can see tears starting to form in her eyes, I feel bad for hurting her but right now she deserves it. She had no right to treat Kay like that, she's my best friend and as my best friend I expected her to be kind to her.

"Look, I am sorry. About everything."

"Whatever." I say briefly.

She groans and kicks the grass. "Harry, c'mon! I'm your best friend, can't you forgive me?"

I look at her, and furrow my eyebrows. "You tried to get between us Nikki. How am I suppose to trust you?"

"You can." She steps forward and looks at me, pleading. "I had no intention on embarrassing Kaydence in the beginning but when I called her dorm to talk to her and maybe get to know her, Madison said she didn't live there anymore and-"

"Wait, hold on." My heart begins to still. "Madison? You spoke to Madison?"

"Yeah, she told me her and Kay use to be friends but that she betrayed her and all this crap and that's how I found out about how Kaydence got kicked out for using drugs and alcohol." She winces. "Look, I get you care about her but I don't necessarily think you should date someone who's into heroine and cocaine."

"What?!" I practically shout, making Nicole jump. "Who told you that?!"

Nicole looks at me with scared eyes. "Madison. She said-"

"She told you all of this?! She said that about Kay?!" My blood is boiling and I try to contain my anger but I want nothing better then to punch the wall.

"Yes. Harry I'm sorry, I thought you knew that about Kaydence."

"It's bullshit Nicole. Kay doesn't do drugs, or drink. Madison lied to you."

Nicole looks at me with wide eyes, and she puts her hand to her chest. "Oh my God. And I almost said all that stuff in front of everyone... Harry I'm so sorry. I had no idea."

I shake my head in anger. How could Madison say that about Kay? I mean yea she kissed me behind Kay's back, but I didn't think she'd stoop so low to spreading lies about her. What's her freaking problem?

"It's fine." I run my hands through my hair, pulling it in agitation.

"I don't know what really is going on between them...but Madison said some awful things about Kay. Maybe you should warn her, she doesn't seem trustworthy."

"She isn't." I say. "But they aren't friends anymore, so I don't think it really matters now. It will only hurt her if I tell her."

Nicole nods understandably. "I am sorry."

"I know." I look up at her and smile warmly. "Just please stop coming between Kay and I. I...love her. And I don't want anyone ruining this because she makes me happy."

Nicole gulps and looks away from me, but not before I notice how her eyes get misty, and she slowly nods. "I won't."
