CHAPTER 18

HARRY

I woke up the next morning to the sun hitting my eyelids, and I squeezed my eyes shut. Groaning, I threw the blankets over my head to shield my face from the sun.

Rolling over on my side I felt a warm body lying next to me, and leaned away from it.

Pulling the covers down, I looked to see Kaydence lying next to me. She was laying on her stomach, her head was facing me, and her hand was gripping mine.

Suddenly I remembered last night, how I had played with her hair and whispered I'd help her when she grabbed a hold of my hand before she drifted off to sleep. I guess she never let go.

Slowly, I pried her hand out of mine and slid out of bed going to the restroom to take care of my business.

After I was done, I walked out to find Kaydence still sleeping. I guess it made sense, she had a long night and she must of been emotionally drained. I walked to the kitchen and decided I'd make her breakfast. She deserved it.

Once I was finished, I put the scrambled eggs and half burnt toast on a plate for her, then strode quietly to the bed.

I set it on the night stand and poked her back softly. "Kay, wake up."

She didn't move.

I shook her shoulder harder, but she didn't budge.

"Man you're a hard sleeper." I muttered to myself.

Thinking of a different approach I climbed on the bed, and stood up. Once I had my balance I suddenly started jumping like crazy.

"EARTHQUAKE!!!" I yelled.

She lifted up, and turned her body around so fast that she kicked me out from under, making me fall to the floor and flat on my face.

"Ugh, that hurt." I groaned in pain.

She leaned over the end of the bed, her hair hanging around her face. "Why would you do that?"

"I was trying to wake you up. You're a hard sleeper." I said, leaning back on my elbows so I could see her better.

"Really genius, I could of told you that." She said sarcastically.

I scoweled at her. "I didn't know you'd kick me off if I did that." I rubbed my cheek in pain. "Seriously, you're even violent when you're asleep."

She smirked, her eyes dancing with amusement. "At least now I know I could kick your ass in my sleep if I ever needed too."

I glared at her, then nodded towards the night stand. "I made you breakfast."

She glanced over her shoulder, her face softening. "How did you know I liked scrambled eggs?"

I shrugged. "I didn't, I just hoped."

She nodded. "Thanks."

"No problem." I said, standing up.

I walked back over to the kitchen, eating the rest of the eggs that were sitting in the pan. I looked up to see Kaydence staring at me. "What?"

Her face flushed at being caught staring. "I don't know...this is weird."

"What's weird?"

"This. Us. You're being too nice. It's weird."

I put the fork down, and leaned forward on the kitchen counter meeting her eyes. "I'm always nice to you, you just don't let me."

She scoffed, and took her plate stuffing her mouth with food. "Mhmm, sure."

"I am, every time I'm nice to you, you give me this attitude and its hard to be nice with your sarcastic comments."

"Boo hoo."

I leaned back from the counter, crossing my arms over my chest. "See? I'm being nice here and you're doing it again. I do care about you, you know."

She didn't answer me, but I saw her rolling her eyes down at her plate.

I walked over to her, taking the plate from her. She tried to pry it back, but I pulled it out of her reach. "If I wasn't nice and didn't care, I wouldn't of made you breakfast."

She didn't respond again and I continued. "If I wasn't nice and didn't care, I wouldn't of been worried last night."

Again, no answer.

"If I wasn't nice and didn't care, I wouldn't of let you cry on my shoulder last night."

She looked down at her lap, her cheeks turning red.

I knelt down in front of her, levelling with her eyes.

"I don't know how many times I have to tell you this, but I am a nice guy. I don't know what you've heard about me but I thought you of all people would know not to judge a book by it's cover."

Her cheeks were blazing and she refused to look at me. I put my finger under her chin tilting her head up.

"It's okay though, I guess I will just keep having to prove myself." I smiled at her, letting her know I wasn't angry.

She stared at me with wide eyes, then nodded slowly. I stood back up, looking down at her. "So we're cool?"

"Yeah, we're cool."

"Lovely. Now go get dressed." I turned back to the kitchen.

"Why? I'm not going anywhere."

"You are. I'm taking you out on a date today." I responded, smirking down at my plate.

"A date?" She asked, her voice high pitched.

I turned to face her, smirking at her. "Yes, girlfriend. A date. Now go get dressed love, because this nice guy is gonna sweep you off your feet."
