People Live Here
Inspired by the song above. Take a look ;)
~*~*~*~*~*~
It's below freezing.
Some residents of this city don't really care and they never even wince from the chill, due to their warm and cozy houses and their hot cocoa that can be made at any time to keep them warm. It's as if they will never turn a blind eye on what's really around them.
Yet there are others.
They are the ones who live in cardboard boxes or are desperate to see even a glimpse of a flame that could potentially keep them warm. They don't get hot cocoa, but instead the stress of even finding something to drink. Every fragment of clothing has a hole or are torn to the point where they may freeze to death. As the others make friction between their hands for even a small ounce of warmth, they look towards the houses that have a heater and by them, they are struck with an immense weight of envy.
But what the residents who have lots of money and enough heat to give to the entire homeless population don't know, is that people live here too.

He never needed an alarm. This man wakes up at the exact same time every single morning. That's what working at a rich company does to you. Actually, no. Stress is what does this to you.
The dark-haired man arose from his king-sized bed that rarely had another person in it. He swung his legs to the side of the bed, leaning his shirtless body over and placing his hands on his face, letting out a sigh. To be completely honest, he didn't even want to go to work, yet his mind never allows him to take a day off. He had to be there at 7:30 in the morning and he gets off at 7:30 at night. A twelve hour work day is never good for one's body and mind, but for some reason, he grew accustomed to it.
It was the same routine every day.
Wake up, make a cup of coffee, but only black, brush teeth, get dressed, and then depart for the day.
It was also always apart of his routine to look out the window and drink his coffee. It brought him a sense of peace, but it was always interrupted when he saw the homeless people outside. It pissed him off in all of the wrong ways. He bought this expensive house because of the nice and quiet neighborhood, but during the winter, the homeless declared the neighborhood as their home for the whole season.
He finished his coffee in enough time to put on his usual attire for the work day. Business suit, tie, and specially made shoes were always his outfit of choice. Due to the freezing temperature outside, he would have to wear a gray trench coat, a scarf, and leather gloves. To say it bluntly, this man was incredibly rich. And in addition to his rich lifestyle, he was naturally stunning. He had dark, spiked hair that looked incredibly soft, pale skin, perfect facial structure and body, and he was tall. Basically, he was perfect, other than his cold personality. He is Sasuke Uchiha, the most successful businessman in the city of Konoha.
He loves taking walks, which is why he never drives in his special-designed black corvette. Despite the numerous homeless people, he tried to avoid them. Fortunately for them, they were too intimidated by his cold aura and intimidating look to even attempt to talk to him. After locking his house, he ventured on his walk to work. This was basically the best part of his day. The chilly wind tickled his cheeks, causing them to turn into a blush-like color. He stared straight ahead with his hands in the pockets of his expensive trench coat, drowning in his own thoughts.
"Excuse me, sir," a woman's soft and wary voice sounded in his ears.
He kept walking, but she continued, "D-Do you have a few dollars you could spare?"
The Uchiha stopped and glared at her, "Why, so you can use it to buy alcohol?"
He noticed her emerald-colored eyes widen, but fall to the ground in sadness. Something that caught his eye was her strange-colored hair. Pink, her short hair was pink. She also had on a light coat and tattered jeans and her scarf was covering her mouth.
She cleared her throat, "I'm actually in need of new mittens," she revealed her hands that had an unhealthy shade of blue around her fingers, "but I see you have no desire to help someone in my condition. Sorry for bothering you."
"Hn," Sasuke kept walking, but craned his head to the side to look at her once more. She pulled her scarf down, which revealed the other portion of her face.
She was beautiful.
Grimacing, the man still continued his walk, trying to erase the memory of his behavior out of his mind.

Guilt consumed Sasuke all day long. For the first time in his life, he felt terrible. It was just so baffling to him that the homeless girl actually asked him for something, because that has never happened to him before.
On his walk back home, his pace was quicker than usual. He actually wanted to see her and apologize, because it was obvious she was freezing. To his dismay, there were no homeless people in the neighborhood, which was probably because they found out about a soup-kitchen that would give them free food. Unlocking the door to his house, he sighed in pleasure right when the heat hit him.
It was colder than usual at this time of night, which made him desire a warm cup of coffee. To fulfill his need of coffee, he made a pot and poured it into a white mug. Going to the window that overlooks the other side of the neighborhood, his onyx eyes scanned the outside, but widened when he saw pink. She was there sitting alone against a dumpster on the cement sidewalk and blowing warm air into her hands.
Before Sasuke took a sip of his coffee, he looked down at the black liquid that had steam heating his face and looked at the girl across the street. What was this feeling? Was it pity? Regret? He honestly can't answer that question.
"Dammit," he whispered.

Dammit.
She was beyond terrified. The freezing weather was making her scared, because she felt like she was going to die from becoming a block of ice. Tears were threatening to well in the pit of her eyes, but she didn't want to cry. She's been strong for so long, but at this very moment, she felt incredibly vulnerable.
A pair of nice shoes clouded her vision as she looked at the ground. Looking up, her expression held confusion at the man. What does he want? He ruined her day earlier and he's the last person she wants to see. He bent down to the same height as her sitting position and his onyx eyes stared at her with a blank expression.
"What's your name?" His voice was deep when he said those words.
She glared at him, "Why should you care? I'm just a freezing alcoholic begging for money, right?"
That was like a slap to his face, but he shrugged it off. Her green eyes narrowed at the two objects in his hands and he gave her a slight smirk.
"Here, this is a bowl of chili and a cup of coffee," he handed her the covered bowl and coffee thermos, along with a plastic spoon for the chili.
Her expression held awe and she looked at him to find traces of lies in his expression. There was none and she hesitantly took the food and drink from his hands. The warmth from the bowl and cup warmed her hands and it almost made her cry.
"Th-Thank you."
Deciding to not leave her quite yet, Sasuke took a seat next to her as she opened the bowl of chili and smiled at its delicious aroma. Before taking a bite, she looked at the attractive man and said, "It's Sakura."
He gave her a confused look and she smiled, "My name's Sakura, like the cherry blossom."
"Ah," he simply said.
"And you?"
He looked at her for a second, before saying, "Sasuke."
She gave him a smile, "Well, thank you Sasuke."
The Uchiha didn't respond to her, but instead stared at her bare hands that had an unhealthy color. He looked down at his own clothed hands that were perfectly warm, yet he realized he didn't need them.
"These aren't mittens, but," he took the leather gloves off and tossed them on her lap, "they'll keep you warm."
Sakura was speechless at his sudden kindness. She gulped and looked at him, "Why are you doing this?"
Staring intently at the woman, he said with honesty, "Because I was guilty of the way I acted towards you."
The emerald-eyed woman looked away and smiled sadly, "You know, Sasuke, we may be different in a lot of ways, but," they looked at each other for a moment, before she continued, "even if we live in completely different conditions, people live here too."
He titled his head, "What do you mean?"
Sighing, she replied, "You're rich and have everything you could ever want. You live in luxury, but people like me also live here in the same area. There's really no other way I could describe it."
Sasuke bit his lip and nodded, "I get what you're saying."
"You know," he looked at her as she was beginning to speak again, "if you're willing to do this for me, you should do this for others that are in my condition as well. They may need it more than I do."
Processing her words for a moment, he said, "I might just do that."
And for the first time in a long time, he smiled sincerely.

I was inspired by the song/music video above, as well as the issue with the homeless. There is a large homeless population in America and it really pisses me off when people who live in a perfect condition judge the homeless as alcohol or drug-craved. Maybe some are like that, but many are in terrible conditions and I'll never understand why America can't get their shit together and help the homeless.
Anyway, comments and criticism are very much appreciated!
