Gesture

For the first time in Sakura's life, she felt fulfilled. The war ended a couple years ago, she completes her duties perfectly at the hospital, and the world is finally at peace. But something else has kept her high-spirited attitude at its peak.

Uchiha Sasuke

The onyx-eyed man returned over a month ago, and is on what he calls a 'vacation'. Although Sakura and Sasuke both knew he would leave soon, Sasuke still accepted her as a comrade and as a girlfriend.

Sure, the Uchiha's not much of a conversationalist, and is not as sentimental as many would wish, but Sakura loves him for who he is, and is grateful to be able to call him her boyfriend.

"Arigatou, Sakura-san." The teenage boy's Mother bowed.

The emerald-eyed woman gave a curt bow, "My pleasure. Just be sure he gets plenty of bed rest, and I would suggest drinking plenty of fluids, and no junk food."

The teenage boy crossed his arms, "No junk food? Aw man."

Sakura gave a close-eyed smile, "You can have all the junk food you want once you're better. Well, as long as your Mother says it's all right, of course."

The boy turned to his Mother, and smiled at her. She rolled her eyes, and waved a goodbye to the medic. Once the two were out the door, and nowhere in sight, Sakura sighed in exhaustion.

Who would have thought a fifteen year old boy could be so stubborn?

Walking out of the room, she went to the waiting room, and saw a certain attractive man sitting in one of the seats. Face expressionless, his eyes landed on her.

"Sasuke-kun? What are you doing here?" She asked in a happily-surprised tone.

The Uchiha stood up from his seat, a plastic bag in hand. He lifted it towards her.

"Lunch."

Sakura smiled, "Thank you, Sasuke-kun. I won't be able to eat this with you though. I still have a bunch of patients."

He shrugged, "No worries. I'll see you later."

Before walking past the pinkette and leaving, he placed a hang on her shoulder, and squeezed slightly, then walked out the doors. She sighed sadly. That was the only romantic gesture he showed her ever since they became a 'thing'. It's not that she hated it, she just imagined more out of him.

Sakura shook her head, and went to her office to have a quick lunch.

Am I unattractive?

Do I always smell bad?

Am I still annoying?

Many concerning questions fluttered in the Haruno's mind, as she walking the narrow path to her apartment. It was nearly nine at night, and not many villagers were out and about. No stars were evident in the nightly sky, due to the storm clouds that were rolling in. Despite the fact she could be drenched at any moment, the question of why Sasuke doesn't use other romantic gestures like hand-holding, or hugging, or even kissing flooded her mind.

Few villagers gave Sakura a curt nod as she walked at her own pace. The air was becoming crisp, and she folded her arms across her chest. She turned a corner.

Perhaps I'm-

The pinkette stopped dead in her tracks, and looked at the scene that was yards away. A woman around her age was giggling, as her boyfriend towered over her, face blank. Her green eyes widened in terror, and she turned around immediately. Increasing her pace, Sakura decided to take the long path back home, and she tried to hold in the tears.

I shouldn't expect the worst.

The positive words repeating themselves in her mind weren't speaking to her heart. Tears welled up in her forest green eyes, but she wouldn't dare let one fall.

I promised I wouldn't cry for you again, not after you came back.

Entering her apartment, she slammed the door shut. Trying to push the thought of Sasuke and another girl aside, she said to herself, "I'm just going to sit down, relax, and-"

A knock on the door silenced her words. The pinkette sighed dramatically, and walked slowly to the door. Opening it lazily, she perked up at the sight of the familiar person.

"Sasuke-kun?"

He squinted his eyes slightly, "I sensed you earlier."

The Haruno sighed, and opened the door fully, a signal to let himself in. Sasuke did so, and took off his sandals.

Cutting right to the chase, the Uchiha asked, "Were you spying on me?"

Sakura's eyes widened, "What? No. I turned a corner and saw you-"

"So you saw that girl?"

The pinkette looked down, "Yes. I didn't know you had other. . . Friends." She spat.

He put a hand on Sakura's shoulder, and gave it a light squeeze, "She's not even close to a friend. Just a girl wanting attention."

Noticing the gesture Sasuke was using, Sakura put her hand on his wrist, and took his hand off her shoulder.

"Is this it?"

He rose an eyebrow at her.

"It's been a month, and that's all you're going to do?"

The Uchiha closed his eyes, almost irritated.

"You know, Sasuke-kun, most couples hug or hold hands or ki-"

Grabbing her face in his hands, Sasuke slowly inched his way towards her lips, and opened his eyes.

"Sasuke-kun?" Sakura asked, puzzled.

His lips touched hers, and Sakura felt a tingling sensation in the pit of her stomach. After a few seconds of a kiss, they pulled away, his forehead on hers.

Sakura breathed out, "You shouldn't have done that because I wanted you to."

The Uchiha replied, "That wasn't just for you."
