Before He Left
"Look at her."
"Hn."
"She's beautiful." Sakura said in awe, holding the small person in her arms, as her husband stared at their child.
He closed his eyes, "I can't get too attached."
The pink-headed kunoichi furrowed her eyebrows, "She's your daughter. You can't not be attached."
The Uchiha opened his eyes, and stared blankly at his wife's expression, "It's going to be a while."
Sakura sighed, "I know. . ."
Sasuke grabbed his daughter's small hand, and rubbed his thumb on the top of her hand. He furrowed his eyebrows, deep in thought.
"Sasuke-kun. . ." Sakura sniffled, "Can't you stay for a few more days. . . With your daughter at least?
The Uchiha exhaled sharply, "I wish I could, but-"
"But you can't," the pinkette frowned, "I've heard it before."
"I'll be back."
She shook her head, a tear trailing down her cheek, "You won't hear her first words, or watch her take her first steps, or-" Sakura stopped herself, and stared back at her daughter.
Sasuke placed a hand on her shoulder, "I promise. It won't be forever."
Sakura nodded her head, biting her lip to keep from sobbing.
Her husband stared at her intently, and said, "Thank you. . . For understanding."
The pinkette smiled sadly, "I'll always be loyal to you. She will too." Sakura signaled to their baby daughter.
A small smile tugged at Sasuke's lips, "I'll see you soon, Sarada."
