Party Time
~Mark
I instantly recognized almost everybody I saw when I stepped inside, smiling broadly as Ken came up to greet me with Mary. "Glad you could make it with Jack!" He high fived the both of us, showing us around the tightly packed apartment. Nate, Danny, and Brian were in the kitchen discussing music while Matt, Ryan, and Matthew or Matthias as I called him were gathered by the food table. Arin, Suzy, Bob, Wade, Molly, and Mandy were in the living room, as well as two girls I've never met before. One had long caramel brown brown hair with blond streaks and hazel eyes, and the other had long slightly curled blond hair with cobalt blue eyes. They were talking to each other when we approached them. Music was blaring loudly, making it hard to hear. "Hey." I waved to them. "Hey." The girl with blond hair echoed shyly, twirling the ends of her hair nervously around her finger. Jack was talking to the other girl, laughing every once in a while. "I'm Mark." I blurted. "Amy. I just moved here." She giggled. I glanced over at Jack, surprised to see him dancing with the girl he was talking to. I made kissy faces at him when she wasn't looking, obviously annoying him. "That's Signe, she just moved here too. She's from Denmark." She followed my gaze to see what I was looking at. "You wanna dance to?" I smirked. "I...I've never danced before." She blushed, her cheeks turning a bright red. "Let me teach you then." I offered her my hand. She hesitantly took it, staring down at my feet as I slowly stepped side to side. "Sorry." She apologized for he sixth time as she once again stepped on my feet. I was about to tell her that it was okay when I felt someone bump into me, pushing me forward on top of Amy, causing both of us to fall to the ground with a muffled bang since the floor was covered in carpet. "Get a room you two, you guys just met." Ken teased us. I scrambled off of her, offering her a hand up. She ignored it and bolted out if the room with her head hung. "Amy!" Signe called after her, chasing after her. The only sound that filled the room was the blaring music.

"I like your accent." I complimented Signe, twirling her. "Thanks, yours too." She replied. Every once in a while, I would spot Mark making kissy faces at me when Signe wasn't looking, irritating me. It's not like I like her or anything, I only just met her, I thought. To get revenge, I pretended to accidentally bump into him while dancing. He tumbled forward to the floor on top of the girl he was dancing with. "Get a room you two, you guys just met." Ken's voice rang out over the music. Mark got up off of the floor, offering her a hand to help her up. Instead, she hastily left the room, not even closing the door behind her. "Amy!" Signe yelled her name, smiling apologetically before running after her. Everything felt too quiet, even though the music was loud. "I'm going to leave too. It's been fun." Mark stated, walking out the door. I huffed and followed him since he was my ride back home. "I'm such an idiot, I totally ruined everything." Mark scowled as he climbed into the car. "Mark I was the one that bumped into you. I wanted to get back at you for making kissy faces at me. I didn't know-" "you didn't know huh? You didn't know what?" Mark snapped. I remained silent since I wasn't sure how to answer. "Let's just get you home." Mark sighed, starting the car. "I my sorry." I said meekly. He didn't reply as he brought me back home. I almost expected my parents to be waiting by the door, but instead all lights in the house were out. "Is everything okay? Like with your parents?" Mark's tone changed to concern as I opened the car door to get out. "Just a bit tense at the moment, something about the drum set ma got me. I'm sure it'll be fine." I waved off his concern, tiptoeing inside my house and peeking in my parents bedroom. They were sound asleep. I felt a pang of sadness as I crawled into bed, my mind replaying the party before I fell into a fitful sleep.
