Chapter 17 - Kissy Missy

Light up ahead at last. Gabriel thought he had been in the vent for an eternity. Reaching the end, he crawled out. Rather than standing up though, he remained seated on the floor. He needed a moment to process what he had just witnessed.

Mommy had attacked the mini Wuggies. Why would she do that? Was... was she mad that they didn't kill him? Gabriel dimly remembered the last words the giant toy had told him before her departure. She didn't want him to live, that was certain. But to kill her accomplices? Gabriel was willing to bet she did something to Bunzo too as he recalled the screams and the crashing. Mommy did appear to have blood on her face before Whack A Wuggy.

And that was another thing. Why in the world did these toys have blood?! They were toys! Granted they moved and talked on their own but Gabriel had chalked that up to mechanical components inside of each toy. But now he was questioning himself. As far as he had seen, everyone had blood inside them. Jesus Christ, what was going on in this factory?! Whatever was happening behind closed curtains, Gabriel had enough of it all. He needed to leave.

Standing up, Gabriel looked around. He wasn't sure where he was. There were tracks on the floor akin to something a minecart would roll on. He didn't see a cart though, nothing but endless halls closed off by doors. Off to his right though was a corridor with those tracks. Perhaps a way out? Following the corridor, Gabriel felt disheartened to find it blocked off with a hastily made boarded wall. Why was it here? Was it meant to keep something from coming through? If so, then what?

There was a hall to Gabriel's left. With nowhere else to go, the middle aged man went down only to find the gate was shut. Worse, the lever to open it was on the other side. Another dead end. There was no way out of this place. Stumped, Gabriel stared at the lever, wondering what he was supposed to do now. The gate was in the way and there wasn't something for him to use the Grabpack for. He was legit stuck.

Staring at the lever a little longer, Gabriel practically jumped with fright when an alarm blared. At the opposite end of the hall, a door slowly slid open, revealing a familiar silhouette of a tall fuzzy creature with long arms.

Huggy Wuggy was back!

Panic swelled up inside Gabriel's heart as he recalled the last time he saw the giant toy. Huggy had fallen into a deep dark abyss, there was no way anything could survive a fall like that! And yet the truth was standing right before him. And to make matters worse for the poor man, the giant toy was approaching him. Terrified, Gabriel turned to leave when he noticed something odd.

Huggy's fur was pink.

Confused, Gabriel turned back around as the figure finally stepped into the light. They were similar in build to the one and only Huggy Wuggy but they were covered in soft pink fur and had eyelashes. Then it hit Gabriel, this wasn't Huggy at all. This was Kissy Missy.

Standing on the other side of the gate, Kissy tilted her head to the side curiously. Finding his tongue, Gabriel rasped, "Hey... Kissy Missy, right?" Glancing over at the lever, he gulped nervously before he dared to ask, "Do... do you think you could... open the gate for me?" He pointed at the lever with a trembling hand. Following his pointing finger, Kissy seemed to understand as she raised her right arm and brought it down onto the lever. Her hand slipped right off. But on her second attempt, she managed to push it down, thus opening the gate.

Still wary of the giant toy, Gabriel stepped back. However, Kissy didn't appear interested in going after him. She turned to leave, glancing over her shoulder only once. She shuffled away wordlessly, disappearing around the corner of the hallway. Swallowing hard, Gabriel called out, "Thank you!"

A sense of calm washed over Gabriel. He was in an abandoned toy factory with living toys who were quick to resort to violence and wanted him dead. But he had just found someone he would dare to call a friend. It made him wonder if there were other toys here who were actually friendly. Rounding the corner, he used his green hand to power up another gate. Walking through, he found a cart with the name Barry on it as well as a vhs tape. A television was conveniently behind yet another gate. Using his green hand once more, Gabriel plugged it in.

The screen flickered before the video played. It showed a young man dressed in yellow. Recognizing the face, Gabriel questioned aloud, "Marcus?!" Yes, his old pal Marcus was onscreen right now. By the sounds of it, he was having a meeting with the head of innovation Leith Pierre. Letting the video play, Gabriel used his blue left hand to pull Barry the cart. He had just gotten the cart next to him when he heard Marcus say, "Ain't no person that's fifty feet long with a thousand legs!"

Scratch the idea of there being other friendly creatures like Kissy Missy. Everything here wants Gabriel dead.
