Chapter 13 - Green Hand
Reaching the bottom of the stairs, Gabriel spotted a gate up ahead. It was partially opened, revealing the room that no doubt he had to go to. Unfortunately, the door was broken. The middle aged man tried pulling it but it was no use. He had to find another way. Conveniently enough, the wall was broken right beside him. Going through then led him to a room with a hole in the floor. Groaning, he jumped down.
Another dark hallway, great. Using the flashlight on his phone, Gabriel cautiously walked down the corridor. He was really regretting every choice he made today. He wouldn't be in this situation if he had just ignored the letter he got. Now that he was thinking about it, who sent him that letter? A coworker perhaps, one who knew him. But what were they doing in the factory for ten years after it closed? Why did they reach out now?
A faint light glowed from a room up ahead. Curious, Gabriel peeked inside. Another machine, a big one too. Entering the room some more, the memory suddenly hit him in the face. It was one of the many hand making machines. Eyeing the empty socket where the Grabpack's right red hand once resided, Gabriel realized he could make himself a brand new hand. Excitement coursing through his veins, his hand practically slammed down on the power button.
Nothing happened.
Confused, Gabriel looked around. Spotting a manual next to the power button on the control panel, he picked it up and started skimming through the pages until he found the page he was looking for. "If there is ever a problem with the machine," Gabriel read aloud, "Check each and every component and find out what's wrong. It's that simple." Tossing the manual over his shoulder, the man muttered, "God I hate this place."
Ten minutes later, Gabriel finally found what was wrong. The machine was out of paint. Thankfully, there were cans of paint available. The middle aged man grabbed one and poured it into the machine. With that completed, he headed back to the control panel and hit the power button again. This time, the machine started up successfully. One minute later, a line of green colored hands rolled out in single file on the conveyor belt.
"Green hands? Do these work like the red and blue hands?" Gabriel wondered. Noticing a vhs tape and small television sitting nearby in a corner, the man walked over and put the tape in. A video played, demonstrating the uses of the green hand. It could apparently hold electricity for ten seconds and could power anything for the same amount of time. Impressed, Gabriel wondered if it would prove useful in the games he was about to play. Only one way to find out.
He set off on a journey to find a way up to Musical Memory.
