Chapter 3 ~ Robin Hood and His Merry Men

Reader POV

The enchanted kingdom was definitely beautiful. It was exactly like Regina had told you it was, with luscious green forests and beautiful castles. You smile as you follow Killian down the road to Regina's castle. You had wanted to see it most of all hoping it would bring you closer to being home. "Alright lass, if we're going to be staying here I believe there are a few ground rules."

"Ground rules?" You say as you narrow your eyes at the pirate.

"Aye lass, now rule number one, No devices from the other world." You look down at you IPod and rolling your eyes say, "Nope not gonna follow that rule, sorry but your guy's music sucks compared to mine." He rolls his eyes as he says, "Fine then just keep it out of sight."

"Done, what's the next rule?"

"Don't trust anyone."

"Okay that's easy to do since I don't trust anyone other than Regina."

"And lastly you can't mention your mother, not to anyone. The people here don't take to kindly to how she treated them."

 You let out an annoyed sigh as you say, "Fine, but she only did that because she was in rage mode; and my mother in rage mode is very scary."

"You don't have to tell me."

You let out a sigh as you say, "Well then I guess I should find somewhere to change so I don't look to out of place." You look down at the skimpy black dress you had wore the night you had left and let out a slight chuckle.

"What's funny?" Killian asks as he stares at you confused.

You smile as you say, "I haven't worn this dress since-" Your smile instantly fades as you say, "Never mind, turn around."

 "What?"

 "I can change without actually having to remove my clothes, its called magic. No turn around."

He rolls his eyes and turning around says, "You do know all magic comes with a price,"

"Of course, I'm not a complete novice. That's why this is just a small simple spell." You say as you reach up and waving your hand feel the familiar warmth of your magic wrap around you covering you in a pair of leather slacks and a simple yet modest top. You smile as you instantly remind yourself of a rogue's outfit from one of your MMORPG's.

"Done," You say and watch as he slowly turns to look at you a confused look covering his face once again. "What you figured I'd choose a maiden's dress? Sorry not the dress type, at least not anymore."

"You look like a thief."

You raise an eyebrow as you say, "Not sure how I should take that Captain."

He smirks as he says, "Let's just say it wasn't what I was expecting."

You beam from pride as you say, "I knew it I look hot." You let out a laugh as he tries to figure out your saying. You start to walk forward when you hear something off to your side. "Did you hear that?" You say as you grab his arm. All the sudden you hear it again and tossing out a magic stun orb hear someone let out a grunt.

You rush over and readying another orb look down to see a man with a green hood and blue eyes, his handsome face accented by his perfect mustache and beard. "First are you okay, and second who are you?" You say as your orb starts to disappear.

He lets out a heavy breath as he says, "Robin, Robin of Locksley."

You freeze as you say, "Holy shit I am so sorry. I was just creeped out so I reacted."

"No worries, I'm still alive and as I can see no harm was done." Killian sighs as he reaches over and helps them man up.

"My name is ______, and this is my guardian of sorts Killian."

Robin holds out his hand to you as he says, "Nice to meet the two of you. Where you off to?"

"My moth- I mean the evil queen's castle. I've heard stories about its beauty and I wanted to see for myself."

He raises an eyebrow as he says, "Well the castle itself had been warded but I can get you close enough to take a look."

"Warded? How so?" You say with a quick glance at Killian.

"No one can go near it without being zapped by its barrier." You grit your teeth as you realize that someone other than your mother has taken residence in her castle.

"Well I guess I could still be able to see its outer beauty that is if you are still willing to escort us?"

"Of course, but how about we head to my camp tonight and then continue the journey tomorrow?" You glance up at Killian who says, "Why not, thanks for the help mate."

"No trouble at all."

As the three of you made it back to his camp you look around at all the rugged "Merry Men" and smile to yourself. "Can I ask what's so amusing?" Killian says as he leans toward you.

"I've read the stories of Robin Hood and his Merry Men all my life and to actually see them face to face. It's almost like when I met Red and Snow." You glance around at all the men and then see out of place a little boy and tilt your head in confusion. "Papa!" The little boy yells as he runs over and jumps into Robin's arms. You mentally realize that this must be his and Maid Marian's child but as you look around you don't see any women.

"This is my son Roland, Roland this is ______ and Killian."

"Hello," you say as you smile politely at the boy. He smiles as he says, "Hi."

Robin then turns to him and says, "Where's Grace?"

"She went to the river with her papa."

Robin nods as he turns back to us and says, "Let me introduce you to the men."

You almost fan girl out loud when he gets to Little John. He was everything you thought he would be when you read the book, although you kind of liked the version they used for Men in Tights better than any other type. They were all the kind and caring men you had read about and thought to yourself that maybe they could help take your mind off being away from your mother.

Your mother, you had completely forgotten to let her know you had arrived and with an apologetic nod and a fake reason you started to make your way away from their camp. Reaching into your bag you pull out the cell phone and taking a deep breath start to dial her number. "What are you doing?" You hear a voice say and when you turn around you come face to face with a face you hoped you would never see again. The phone falls to the forest floor with a thud and shatters as you stare wide eyed at your first love's face.

~~~~~Flashback~~~~~
He was handsome in a strange way, his disheveled deep brown hair and sad blue eyes had drawn you in making your curious to know more; and it seemed he was just as intrigued in you as you were in him. His name was Jefferson or rather the Mad Hatter as Henry pointed out to you one day. You didn't know why you were attracted to him he was rude and a rather 'Mad' person; but with every moment you spent helping him with his hats you had become more invested emotionally to helping him somehow. What you didn't expect was for him to completely turn you away once he realized who your mother was. It's just like you had feared. The sins of the mother were now the sins of the daughter.
You wanted to forget everything including him so you used what magic you could and giving up a part of yourself fixed his portal hat and after writing him a letter left it on his doorstep. You wanted Regina to remove your memories but she had refused saying it is what makes you a stronger person. You had given up any chance to be happy when you fixed his hat, that was the deal you had made with Rumple. After that he had disappeared along with his daughter and that had helped you move forward.
~~~~~~End flashback~~~~~

"You?" You say as you stare over into Jefferson's deep blue eyes. His face is confused for a moment before he realizes who it is, "______?" Your heart clenches at the mere sound of his voice saying your name. "What are you doing here?" He asks a tinge of regret in his voice.

Your eyes instantly narrow as you say, "It's none of your business." Rage filling you, you stomp past him as you head back to the campsite to get Killian and tell Robin you were sorry but you needed to get to the castle as fast as you could.

"_____ wait!" He calls out as he follows behind you.

Anger and pain course through your veins as you make it back to the camp where you see Killian waiting uncomfortably by the edge of the fire. When he sees you he jumps up a confused look on his face. "I'm sorry Robin but we must be leaving." You say as the thief's confused gaze finds yours.

"I must say it's not safe out there after dark. There are trolls, ogres, and other unfriendly creatures."

 You give him an apologetic smile as you say, "I'm sorry but I can handle myself. Thank you for leading us this far and letting us meet your men. One day I will repay your kindness." You give him a swift nod as you grab Killian's arm and drag him out of the campsite and down the road. You take a glance back to see a expression that may have been jealousy in Jefferson's eyes but you didn't care.

"Alright princess can I ask what the bloody hell that was about?"

You let out a sigh as you say, "Do we really have to talk about it, and what did I tell you about calling me princess?"

He raises his hands as he says, "We could've enjoyed their hospitality."

"No, we couldn't have." You say a depressed feeling coming over you. Letting out a sigh you lift your hand up and creating a small orb of light start walking back down the road to your mother's castle. You didn't care where you would end up as long as you didn't have to see Jefferson again.

"If you don't mind me asking Lass who was the man following you?"

 You freeze in your footsteps as you say, "What do you care?"

He raises his hands as he says, "Just curious if you might have known him."

You let out and annoyed groan as you say, "Yes I knew him satisfied?"

 He raises an eyebrow as he continues saying, "Oh so it's like that is it?"

 You start walking again as you say, "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Come now lass let's not lie to each other, the two of you had a relationship before did you not?" You grit your teeth as you try your best to ignore him. "So I'm right?"

 You roll your eyes as you say, "How about we stop talking about my past and talk a little bit about yours. Why do you want revenge against Gold?"

 He smirks as he says, "Oh wait sorry that question is irrelevant in this conversation."

 You raise an eyebrow as you say, "So this has to do with a unicorn doesn't it?"

He stares at you confused for a moment before he says, "What does a horse have to do with my revenge."

You smirk as you say, "It's a metaphor, a unicorn is like the love you wanted so bad but you could never have, or that you were not worthy enough to have."

He stares at you for a moment before his eyes go sad and he says, "Right then aye, it had something to do with my unicorn."

Your smile softens as you say, "You don't have to explain unicorns are a very special thing. It's a shame when you lose them." You start to walk away a feeling of sadness trying to overcome you. You didn't need this right now. You needed to figure out what was shielding anyone from your mother's home and who in fact was calling it their own. Your anger and overwhelming sadness would have to wait.
