As I'm drawing, I hear a knock on the door of mine and Hopes dorm room. Hope groans from where she's painting and goes to answer it. "What?" Hope asked "Is Khalia here?" Raf said from the door. "Sis it's for you. If you two are about to fight let me get my stuff and get out before you do." Hope said and she walks back in to grab her stuff before leaving. "What's up?" I ask turning to look at him from my desk. "Don't "what's up" me. You know what's wrong. You went against a dragon, a gargoyle and a spider by yourself. You wouldn't let anyone help you defeat them." Raf said and I stand up from my desk to look at him. "You weren't even here for the gargoyle. You left and made it seem like you weren't coming back. If Jeremy didn't bring you back then would have come back?" He doesn't say anything. "Exactly. I knew I could handle the monsters and I had nothing to worry about. I can protect myself Raf. I'm not some damsel in distress that needs saving 24/7." I say

"Oh trust me I know that." Raf said "Then why are you getting so worked up about it?" I ask "Because for some reason the universe decided to stick the three of us together and I still care about you two." Raf said "And yet you're not having this conversation with Lizzie who basically did the exact same thing I did. Oh and let's not forget almost died because of the gargoyle that I took on by myself. Don't come at me for protecting this school and the people in this school because if I had to choose them over myself I would choose them every single time. Now we have an assembly to get to and I'm the reason it's happening so I cannot be late." I go to kiss him but he backs up away from me. I ignore the hurt that I get from both him and Lizzie both doing that. "I love you Rafi." I say walking out of the dorm room.

Hope walks up to me as I walk away from the dorm room. "Why do your mates seem to think that if they want to pick a fight to do it early in the morning and do it in our dorm room?" Hope asked "Hell if I know at this point. The only thing I do know is I'm pretty sure they both hate me right now. Lizzie's pissed because I didn't tell her about the monsters and Rafi's pissed because I went against them alone. Rafi may hate me right now, but that's okay with me. I would rather have him safe and hating me because I go against the monsters myself, than in danger and liking me." I say "Raf could never hate you, Lia. I think he is more upset with himself. He thinks that he isn't good enough to protect you and Lizzie. Give him a little time." Hope said "Since when have you become the relationship genius?" I ask "In the words of my lovely sister "hell if I know". But seriously give him time and he'll come around. They both will." Hope said and we walk in the grand hall for the assembly. Hope and I sit beside each other. With me sitting on the end of the row behind MG end in front of Jed.

"Given recent events, some students have expressed concern that I am not allowing you to have a say in the decisions that affect your future." Dr. S looks from me to Josie. "And I agree. If you are expected to abide by this school's policies, it's only fair that you have a voice in how those rules are made. So, I am forming an honor council. One vampire, one witch and one werewolf, each elected by their peers. Along with our school counselor Emma, whose vote will represent the younger students. Now, I have to go off-campus. In the meantime, I expect you to make good decisions and to vote wisely. That's all. You're dismissed." Dr. S said and he walks to the side grabbing a bag and walking out the side door.

Hope and I follow him. Dr. S walks away from MG and opens his car door which Hope shuts with her magic. He turns to look at us. "Are you kidding me?" Hope and I ask in sync. "Am I under assault today?" Dr. S asked as he sits his bag down. "You get to interrogate a tree nymph, and I have to run Landon's 23andMe." Hope said "First of all, it's a dryad, not a nymph. Second of all, I need a witch to run the testing spells. And no offense to Khalia, I don't want another incident where she tries to murder him again. Plus I need her to do research about dryads for me." Dr. S said and I nod my head in understanding. "Got it." I say "Get Emma to do it." Hope said "She can supervise, but she's busy managing the school in my, I'm sure, unbearable absence. Plus, if Landon can convince you that he belongs, he can convince anybody." Dr. S said picking his bag back up. "You're enjoying this." Hope said "I am. I left you instructions in my office. Both of you try not to kill him." He goes to get in the car. "Oh and Khalia." Dr. S said "Yeah?" I ask "Behave. Don't give Emma as much trouble as you give me." Dr. S said "Sir yes sir." I say sarcastically before walking away smirking to myself.

I walk in Lizzie's room and see her in an all white outfit. I sit beside Josie who's laying on the floor and Lizzie turns to Josie and I. "Josie, focus." Lizzie changes the color to a light blue in the mirror. "None of this is working." Lizzie said "You know, you're not gonna lose the election over an outfit." Josie said "I'm not worried about losing the election. I'm worried about what I'm going to wear to my victory rally. The outfit makes the speech." She changes the color from white to pink. "How do I look?" Lizzie asked "Maybe you should wear something that shows your fellow witches you're gonna take this seriously. It's a big responsibility." Josie said "That is why I am perfect for the job. I'm a tastemaker. An influencer. People don't really know what they want until I tell them that they want it. They need me." Lizzie said "Alright I've had enough of the witchy banter. I had wolf training since your dad has left. Bye you two." I say getting up walking out of the room to go to my room to change.

A she-wolf takes a swing at me but I dodge her swing. She takes another and I shove her to the ground. Another wolf comes at me from behind trying to punch me and I push him to the ground. "All right, I got a medieval history paper due at 2:00. Who's on that?" Jed asked from where he's walking towards me to spar. "I'll do it." Raf walks closer to us. "But I need a favor. You've been in the pack for five minutes, and you want a favor from your alpha?" Jed asked and I wrap my arm around Jed's seeing how this is about to go. "You're obviously gonna be elected to honor council. If it comes down to it, will you do what you can to keep Landon in?" Raf asked "That's a great idea, foster kid. I'll bring that up at the first meeting. So I can make sure your boy gets the boot." Jed said and I bite my lip to stop from laughing. "Why? I joined the pack. Yo, I'm following all the stupid rules that..." Raf said "Well, consider that punishment.... For not respecting my authority when you got here. The rule is this: what the alpha says goes. And I say Landon goes." Jed hits Rafs arm. "Ali you ready to spar?" Jed asked and I look away from Raf to Jed.

"Yeah let's go. I want to make this clear to everyone in here, I am not challenging him to Alpha. I repeat I am not challenging him to alpha." I say "You think you're going to beat me?" Jed asked and I pop my neck. "I know I am." He throws a punch at me but I quickly dodge him kicking the back of his knee causing him to fall. "Come on wolfy don't make it easy for me. Give me everything, just like we used to." I say "Not sure that's the way you mean." Jed said and I kick his face. "You know exactly what I meant." I say and he kicks my knee causing me to go down. "You okay?" Jed asked and I smirk with my eyes flickering. I quickly grab his arm flipping him over me and onto the ground straddling his waist. "Fine. Thanks for the spar." I say

I walk in the cellar with a bottle full of blood to see Kaleb. "Hey, K." I say "What up, Alia?" Kaleb asked "Dealing with stupid normie Landon drama. Want this?" I ask sliding the bottle throwing the bars and he grabs it. "Where'd you get it?" Kaleb asked "It's human. I had one of the other vamps give me a vial of their blood so I could heal the normie I got it from. Once you get done let me have to bottle so I can get it rid of it." I say and he quickly drinks the blood and hands me back the bottle. "Thanks." Kaleb said "Of course. Incendia." I chant and the bottle goes up in flames. As soon as the bottle and the flames disappears MG comes down the stairs. "What up, Kaleb?" MG asked "The hell you want, man?" Kaleb asked "I, uh... I-I copped this from the kitchen. I thought you might be hungry." MG said "Not for bunny blood." Kaleb said "It's the only blood in the school, man." MG said "Then hunger strike it is, I guess." Kaleb said and I smile hearing the laugh in his voice.

"I'm sorry that you're in here, but let me make it up to you. Dr. Saltzman is starting an honor council. And if I get elected I can change things around here, starting with getting you out of this cell." MG said "Mm. You'd do that for me?" Kaleb asked "Yeah, of course." MG said "Well, all right. Send the vamps my way. I'll get 'em in line." Kaleb said and I smirk knowing he's bout to do the exact opposite. "Thanks, man. Hey, you won't regret this. I promise." MG said and he leaves. "Okay." Kaleb said and I finally laugh. "Oh my god. I can't wait to see his face. Vote to make Landon Kirby leave, that will be the first thing to be voted on. If enough of us vote for him to go then the normie will be gone for good. So K, I'll come back soon and I'll bring more." I say "See you soon Alia." Kaleb said and we do our handshake through the bars of the door.

I walk out of the cellar and soon Rafael catches up to me. "I've been looking for you." Raf said "I was in the cellar seeing Kaleb. What's up?" I ask "I need to talk to you in private." Raf said and he drags me to an empty room and I put a spell on the room. "What's up?" I ask "I need a favor. I know that me and you haven't had the best of relationship since I joined the school and I know it's my fault but I still wanted to ask. You said it was your birthright to become an alpha and you told Jed that you would take it from him. And I saw today at sparing at you can easily take him. Will you challenge him to alpha and make sure Landon stays at the school?" Rafael asked "I will change him yes but Raf, I am not completely wolf. So someone else would have to be honor council. So even if I am alpha unless I tell them to vote for you it may not turn out the way you want it too." I say

"Thank you. Thank you." Rafael said and he kissed me. "I have to do something then I'll come find you." I say walking out of the room to find Jed. I find him with some of the other wolves. I grab his arm and drag him and push him into an empty room. "Woah. Ali, didn't think we were still doing these things because of your soulmate." Jed said "Shut up." I put a spell on the room. "I don't have a lot of time. Your new wolf just come up to me asking me to challenge you to alpha so his little normie friend can stay in the school. Before you say anything I'm only going to do it because he is my soulmate like Lizzie is. But I want no hard feelings to come between us. I just thought I should warn you before it happens." I say "Of course not. Nothing could ever come between us." Jed said "Good that's all I needed to know. Now let's go have some fun. Just think of it as sparing." I say "Yeah me losing my title sparing." Jed said "Remember karma is always a bitch." I say walking out.

Rafael and I walk in the gym where Jed and the wolves were after my talk with Jed. "We'll blow out those walls, get a full sized basketball court in here. They haven't touched this place since..." Jed said and I walk up to him with Rafael behind me. "We need to talk, Jed." I say "Foster kid and I already did." Jed said "Just hear me out. I've got the vampires and the witches. But I need one more faction to make sure." I smirk a little knowing that Hope and I are gonna screw up his little plan. "Be nice to know I could count on my own pack." Raf said "Yeah, see, that's, the thing, Raf. They're not your pack. They're mine." Jed said and Raf backs up away from me. "Thought you might say that. An alpha has to face a challenger one-on-one. I didn't want to do things this way. But if what the alpha says goes..." I make my eyes go amber. "I got to be the alpha." Jed makes his eyes flash before throwing a punch at me which I dodge and punch his stomach then his face. He knees me in the stomach and I throw him against the wall. I pull him up by his shirt... "Remember what I said." I punch him causing blood to come out of his mouth. He drops to the floor and I walk away from him. "The polls are now open. Because I am the demon tribrid vote for Rafael." I say and Raf wraps his arm around my shoulder as I walk out.

After showering and changing clothes from the ones I wore when I fought Jed I went to the grand hall where the drawing for the honors council would be. I walk in and I see Penelope blow her vote into the box and I know that tonight might be a night of both soulmates being upset and pissed off. "All right. Voting is now closed." Everyone claps. "Let's get started." The box shakes and glows before a card floats into the air and into Emma's hands. "The werewolf representative will be.... Rafael." Emma said and the wolves start cheering and barking. "Congrats baby." I say and he smiles at me. "So much for not wanting anything to do with the pack." Josie said "I've always wanted to be part of a power couple. Me and Khalia are that already but with him too." Lizzie said and I laugh quietly and lean towards Rafs ear. "Lizzie's over there crushing hard." I say and he laughs hanging his head. "All right, settle down. Thank you. Next up...." A paper floats out and into Emma's hands again. "The vampire representative will be..." MG stands up. "Kaleb." The vamps start cheering and MG sits down. "Settle down! Thank you. And the witch representative will be...." Penelope looks at me and winks and that when I know this isn't about to go well. "Josie." Penelope looks at Josie when Josie looks back at her and Penelope winks at her shooting finger guns at her. "Thank you all for voting. And congratulations to our newly elected representatives." Emma said

I walk out of the grand hall and Jed grabs my arm. "What did you mean by karma?" Jed asked "Normie." I say quietly "The friend?" Jed asked "Yes. Outside with my sister." I say and he walks away and I follow him. He puts his hood up standing there waiting on Landon. I stay hidden so I could not be seen. "Oh. Hey, Jed." Landon said "You don't belong here." Jed said "Yeah. Everyone keeps saying that." Landon said "Everything was fine before you and Rafael showed up." Jed said "Wait, wait." Landon said and he somehow flips Jed over. Jed kicks Landon down the hill. "Invisque." I chant quietly going invisible going to the tree lines. Jed jumps down the hill growling as he does. He picks Landon up by his shirt and punches him multiple times before kicking him leaving him laying there. I walk down the hill towards Jed and up beside him and waiting till we're a far enough distance before becoming visible again. "Oh what the hell?" Jed asked jumping slightly. "See it wasn't that hard was it?" I ask "Why did you give me the idea? Isn't Rafael your soulmate?" Jed asked "He is. But Landon is the reason that Lizzie got hurt by that Gargoyle and the reason a couple days after Lizzie and I met our other soulmate he left us for the normie. Plus I love creating chaos. Now I must go pretend I care about the normie for my soulmates sake. But let me see your face." I say stopping and he stops to look at me. "It will heal soon. You don't have to deal it." Jed said "But I want to. I did it to you." I say closing my eyes waving my hand over his face before opening my eyes and his bruises are gone. "Now you do it to yourself. I hate that I hurt you." Jed said touching my lip. "I kind of like it. Makes me seem badass." I say "You don't need some mark to get that point across." Jed said "They will send a search party for you. Stay hidden whatever you do." I grab his hands and quickly chant a spell. "Now a locator spell cannot be used to find you." I say

I'm standing behind Rafael and beside Hope where Landon is. "I'm gonna tear Jed apart." Rafael said "No, you're really not." I say and he turns to look at me. "He's gonna pay for what he did. He could've killed him." Rafael said "You want to do something to help him? Take a walk to the herb garden and get me some hazelwood root." Hope said and Raf leaves. "What does hazel wood root do?" Landon asked "Make him cool off before he realizes that she made it up." I say "Raf's had a... a rough couple of weeks." Landon said "Look who's talking. Guess we can cross "supernatural healing" off the list. I'm sorry that this happened to you. Jed's one of those rare cases where his bite is actually worse than his bark." Hope said "I've dealt with bullies before." Landon said and I rolled my eyes. "Not like this. I know how badly you want to stay here, but this school is full of people like Jed. Some of us are nicer, some of us have more control, but all of us are capable of doing what he did. If not in some cases worse than what he did. Do you honestly think that you're safe here?" Hope asked "Yes, I do." Landon said "You should rest." Hope said and we walk out of the room. She shows me the orb. "He lied." I say

Hope and I are sitting beside each other on the couch while she's using my phone to call Dr. S.
"How's the interrogation going?" Hope asked "She's not talking. But I think I figured out why no one remembers dragons, gargoyles or dryads existing. I mean, whatever happened to these creatures, it erased all memory of them. It's like they never existed in the first place." Dr. S said "I guess that explains a lot." I say "Well, don't sound so excited. It's only a massive piece of the puzzle that explains why these creatures only exist in legends and myths." Dr. S said "Sorry. I'm just having a day. I became alpha today. But Listen, Hope and I want a seat on the council. Hope is a tribrid- realistically the only one of her kind. And I'm the demon tribrid also the only one of my kind. No one can represent my interests but us." I say "Is this about Landon? Because you can't let this get personal." Dr. S said "The political is personal. We learned that in Advanced Civics, taught by you." Hope said "That's cheating. But I trust that you two will make the right call." Dr. S said and Hope goes to hang up but I stop her. "If the Dryad gives you any information that you and Dorian need help researching let me know. Like symbols or lore or anything like that. I'll help as much as I can." I say and I hang up.

Hope and I walk in the room where the voting is happening. "Sorry we're late." Hope said and we sit down with me between Kaleb and Rafael. "Hold up. Who voted for them?" Kaleb asked pretending to be shocked that I'm there. "We ran unopposed." I say winking at him and he smirks and Emma starts chanting causing the balance scale to levitate. "We're here to discuss if Landon should be allowed to stay at the school. My vote, on behalf of the lower school, is to err on the side of inclusion. We exist to help kids like him. Which is what I'm going to go do now. I have a search party out looking for Jed." I smirk a little but quickly wipe it off my face when she looks between Raf and I. "As you've all seen, violence leads to more violence. If you'll excuse me." Emma said "Have fun." I say in a teasing tone when she walks towards the door that makes her stop. "Khalia do you know where Jed is located? If you do I suggest you tell me." Emma said "Oh I'm sorry Emma, I do not." I say and she nods walking out the door.

"All right, who wants to start?" Kaleb asked "Landon has to go." Hope said "Never thought I'd be saying this, but.... Hope's right. Humans refuse to make a place for us in their world. We start letting them in, it's only a matter of time before they take this place from us, too." He puts his stone on the goes side of the scale. "Landon goes." Kaleb said and we do our handshake under the table. "Landon is my brother. He's the only reason I'm alive. He can't go back to human life knowing that magic and dragons exist. We took his whole crappy life from him. Be awful selfish of us not to give him one to replace it. That's two-one." Rafael said "Doesn't matter how much we want him to stay. Look what one mad wolf did to him. Earlier, I asked him if he felt safe here. He said "yes." He was lying. This place is dangerous for him, and even he knows it." Hope said "I will protect him." Rafael said "And where were you an hour ago? That's the point. If he stays, It's on all of us. It is all of our responsibility to protect him. Can we honestly say we believe every one of us can handle that kind of responsibility?" Hope asked making it even. Everyone looks at Josie and I. "Looks like it's on Khalia and Josie." Kaleb said

"Josie, you can go first." I say and she nods. "Josie. Please." Raf said "Since Landon walked through those doors, my sister, my father and I have almost died. We don't really know what Landon is, so we can't really say if we know if he's dangerous or not. Raf, this isn't about who's friends with who or who you like. This school is family, and I am not putting my family in danger again." Josie said putting her stone on goes. "Khalia up to you." Kaleb said and he squeezes my hand knowing what's about to happen. "Alia, baby. Please." Raf said "Everyone at this table knows that Rafael and Lizzie are my soulmates. But as Josie said this isn't about who's friends with who or who you like. Since Landon has walked through those doors he's stolen from this school, he's put my sister, myself, this school, and Lizzie in danger. With us being the honors council we have to look for not only ourselves but the other students and even the younger ones to and set a good example for the younger students. Lizzie almost died because Landon stole a knife that triggered something unknown to us. Something that we are still trying to figure out." I pick up my stone ignoring Rafael staring at me. And for that I vote that Landon goes." I say putting my stone down.

Raf quickly stands up and so do Kaleb and I. "Raf." Hope said and Raf and I are staring each other down with Kaleb behind me glaring at Raf. "Raf, stop." Josie said "You know what, I'm done with all three of y'all." Raf said and he walks to the door opening it but I make it shut back with my magic. "Khalia, don't." Hope warns and I feel my eyes start to flicker. "Oh you're done with me, huh?" Raf turns around to face me and he starts walking towards me. "Why? Because I chose my other soulmate and my friends over you. Like you did towards me and Lizzie from the beginning. Baby if anything I'm just repaying the service." My eyes go fully black. "You're lucky the only thing your friend got is a beating and getting kicked out. I would've gave him more at the beginning of all this when the dragon bullshit happened." I laugh. "I'm done being treated like shit by you. Real soulmates that actually care shouldn't treat someone like this. Hell it's sad to say that Jed treated me better then this and all we did was fuck. So Rafael you can kindly go fuck yourself or better yet go fuck Landon." I say walking by him and opening the door with my magic before slamming it shut with my magic.

I change my clothes to clothes that I can work out in before going to the gym. I magically set a bag on the hook before I start punching it. And the longer I started punching the more pissed off and upset I got. My eyes flashed and I punched hard enough for my hand to go through the bag. I just sit on the mat staring at the wall. The door opens causing light to come in which causes me to turn to look at the door. I see Raf and I quickly look down and away so he don't see that I'm crying. "I'm sorry. I'll leave you alone." Raf said "No, wait. I'm sorry. About Landon. I was going to vote with you but the more and more I thought about it and I had to think about everyone that I care about too. Lizzie is practically human if she doesn't have magic and she doesn't have magical healing abilities and I'm not always there to protect her. You asked me why I take on the monsters alone and that's why because I don't care about my life because I can come back. But other people can't. Other than that, apparently I'm the worst person and soulmate in the world." I say "No. You're not the worst person or soulmate in the world. Pretty sure that classifies to be me." He turns around to leave but I quickly step towards him and turn him around to face me. I pull him towards me kissing him. He pulls away from me. "What are you doing?" Raf asked and I take my shirt off before taking his off. "Baby, just don't think about it." I say and he starts kissing me again. He picks me up and I wrap my legs around his waist and he carries me to the mat before laying me down kissing me holding my hands.
