Emily
My eyes carefully studied Brennen as he quickly glanced around the room, twisting his skull ring around his finger. His eyes stopped at the door, and he smirked.
"He had to leave."
"Is everything okay?"
He laughed and nodded his head.
"Yeah, he just had to do something."
I raised my eyebrow in confusion. Colby backing out of hanging out? That's something he barely did. Even if he had to record for a video, he stalled it. But I quickly brushed the skepticism off.
"So, what's the plan for today, Bren?"
He smiled. "Well, I was wondering if you wanted to shoot a video with me?"
I gritted my teeth nervously.
"Are you sure you want me in your video? I'm gonna be quiet, I'm not that funny, and what if your fans-"
"Oh shut up Em, you're gonna be fine. And who cares if they don't like you? I know I do, and that's all that matters."
I felt a slight blush rising, so I playfully rolled my eyes and laughed to hide it. Kobe was standing at Brennen's feet, and I picked him up.
"Can we bring Kobe please?"
He chuckled. "Sure, but you're gonna have to bring the leash. I dont want to loose my son."
Smiling, I ran over to the wall and grabbed the leash and collar off of the key holder. I gently wrapped the collar around the small dog and hooked the leash on. Turning around, I realized that Brennen was nowhere to be seen.
I called out his name, and he came running out of his room with his camera and tripod.
"You ready?", he asked me.
Nodding, I put Kobe over my shoulder and opened the door. Brennen locked the door as I pressed the elevator button. Shortly after, we were standing in a parking lot. Brennen unlocked his car and jumped in the driver's seat, with Kobe and I in the passenger side.
He grabbed his camera off his lap, pressed record, and handed it to me.
"What do I-"
I didn't have time to finish my sentence, as Brennen turned on some music and started singing to it. I tried to stifle my laughs, I didn't want to ruin his video. Brennen must've saw my attempt, because he gestured that it was fine.
After spending about five minutes hysterically laughing, we pulled up to a little restaurant. I handed the camera back to him, and he unexpectedly turned the camera towards me.
"Now Emily here, has never been bestowed upon the glory of Mmm Mmm Good, so she is here today to be blessed."
I looked up at the restaurant sign, seeing that it said Tender Greens. Confused, I raised my eyebrow.
"Brennen, I hate to break it to you, but it says Ten-"
"Shhh", he whispered, placing a finger on my lips. "We do not speak of the name until we get a brand deal."
I playfully rolled my eyes and unbuckled my seatbelt, jumping out of the car with Kobe by my side. A car door shut as Brennen walked towards me, still holding the camera.
He shut off the camera as we got our food and found a table. He got a huge plate of spiced chicken, along with a whole bunch of sides. I just got tomato soup, because I knew that Brennen would probably force me to try everything on his plate.
We slid into a booth, and placed our mountain of food onto the table. Brennen tied Kobe's leash to the bottom of the table.
He did it tight enough so he couldn't reach the other tables, but loose enough so he could run around and jump onto the booth seats.
I looked down to my soup, and my spoon was about to hit the bowl, when Brennen grabbed my arm.
"Wait, I wanna film your first time tasting it!"
He clicked the record button and swung the camera my way.
"Okay, now go!"
I sighed. "Brennen it's just food."
He turned the camera towards himself, stood up, and put his hand over his heart.
"How dare you! 'Just food'? This is more than just food! This is-"
"Shhh, Brennen, stop yelling and sit down!"
All eyes in the restaurant were turned our way, and it was filled with silence. My face grew red as I took his arm and pulled him down back into the booth. I mouthed a quick 'I'm sorry' to the waiter giving me an angry glare.
He laughed as I put my face in my hands, embarrassed, making Brennen laugh.
"You better get used to it Em, this is what happens when you're friends with me."
"Yeah, no shit", I playfully retorted back.
Brennen rustled around his pocket to take out his phone, and went on Snapchat. I knew what he was about to do, and I tried to cover my face, but I was too late. He laughed and began typing away, showing me the picture after.
I chuckled. "Wow, clickbait much?".
I watched as he set the camera on the table divider, so it could catch both of us at a higher angle. He gestured back to my soup, and I sighed. I dipped the spoon in the soup, and brung it to my mouth. I'm not going to lie, it was delicious, but I didn't expect there to be chunks of carrots in it.
A piece lodged into my throat, and I started choking. We had already finished our drinks and haven't gotten refills yet, so I had nothing to help. Brennen's face quickly turned from a cheeky smile into a frown of concern.
I watched helplessly as he quickly threw himself out of the booth and ran to the drink suspensor, filling a small plastic cup with water.
He tapped his foot in anger as the water was coming out slowly. Brennen ran back to the booth and shoved the water into my hand.
After swallowing the ice cold water, I was able to breathe again. Brennen leaned back into the seat and gave a large sigh of relief.
"Oh my god, Em. That fucking scared me to death. If you stopped breathing, I would've died. I'm not ready to go to hell yet."
I laughed. "Me niether."
He shook his head. "Nah, you wouldn't go to hell. You're too sweet for that."
"Okay sure", I said, rolling my eyes.
"I mean it Emily! You're so sweet and kind and I just-"
He was about to say something else, but he shook his head and he stopped talking.
"Sorry, I'm just rambling."
I laughed and placed my hand on his. "Bren, you don't have to be sorry about anything. Really."
He looked down at my hand and blushed, making my face even more pink. Shit, did I have my hand on his for too long? I really hope I didn't make anything awkward.
Quickly pulling my hand away, I thought of someway to change the subject.
"So, what else is planned for today?"
He chuckled softly. "You'll see."
I sipped my soup, being careful of the vegetables. I couldn't help but think, what else did he have up his sleeve?
