The Violets Are Dead

"Eh? Why are you still awake, Karamatsu?" You asked as you walked into the room.

He was alone by himself, left by his brothers while they went to play drinking games in the other room.

"Er, no reason. I'm just uh," he paused to toy with his hoodie strings, "having some trouble. Nothing important."

You sat down with concern filling your features. Kara was never this anxious and always appeared with confidence of a thousand suns. You wondered what was bothering him and continued to prod him with questions.

"Something wrong? You're not...yourself." You hesitated with the inquiry.

"Of course! Just thinking about what to do for my..." he drew himself into a dramatic pose, "Karamatsu girls!"

And there it was again, his overflowing ego planted on him. This was him alright, or what it seemed to be, but you know there was something else bothering him.

"R-Right...um, Kara? If there's anything bothering you, just tell me okay?" You did your best to comfort him.

"I'm fine. Thanks though, (Name)." He nodded, absorbing himself back into the mirror.

"Okay.." You ran out of words to say as you exited the room.

You happened to bump into Osomatsu in the hallways. He appeared quirky and swaying slightly, obvious signs that he was drunk.

"H-Hey, how are you doing?" You more or less greeted him.

"Doing fine (Name)! Want one?" He thrusted out his beer toward you.

You shook your head quickly, politely refusing him.

"I'm okay, but can I ask you something?" You looked up at him.

"Ask away!" He laughed, almost cheerfully.

"Um, you didn't say anything to Karamatsu...did you?" You inquired hestiantly.

He blinked and shook his head. He peered down at you as he spoke.

"Why? Did something happen?" He said more seriously.

It seemed the affects of the alcohol seemed to fade gradually as fatigue took over his features.

"Not that I know of, he just seemed down all of a sudden." You looked away at the floor.

He looked away too, knowing it was probably about you.

"Geez, (Name). You're just the center of attention around this house." Osomatsu sighed audibly, rubbing the back of his neck.

"I-It's not like I asked for it!" You retorted.

"Heh, I bet. That's my job after all," he came closer until he was inches apart from you, "so quit being so damn greedy." He winked.

Your face heated up as he glided past you as if nothing happened. You wondered if he purposefully kept you on edge like this.

'Damn sadist..' You thought bitterly as you skipped off to join the rest of his brothers.
