Karamatsu x Pianist!Reader [2]
It had been a couple of days after his first encounter with the mysterious pianist. Karamatsu was desperate to learn her name but wanted to prepare himself first, and so spent those days practicing lines in the mirror and trying out different outfits to decide on what looked the most fashionable and cool.
His brothers didn't think of much of his strange actions, as this was basically how he acted anyway. Karamatsu was honestly glad of that, as he couldn't but want to keep her identity (although even he didn't know it) a secret for now.
Once he was sure he had only the best line and the most coolest of outfits, he set out on his journey. As he had expected, people just couldn't take their eyes off him! Their eyes were narrowed a bit, and they looked annoyed, but that's probably just because of the sun.
Soon enough he was standing outside the restaurant, the legs that had walked him all the way here now feeling a little wobbly. He couldn't and wouldn't turn back now though! Although his hands were getting a bit sweaty...
The door opened, the bell hanging just above the door letting out a small chime. Not expecting it, Karamatsu was hit in the face.
"Oh! Forgive me sir, I was going out on an errand." A very well dressed man apologised, bowing deeply. Judging by his uniform, he had to be a waiter.
Karamatsu rubbed his forehead, then fixed his lopsided sunglasses. "I-It's fine."
"By all means, come inside. Our restaurant is well known not only for its food, but also its entertainment." The waiter said, his words sounding perfect as if they were rehearsed.
"Ah, yes. Thank you." Karamatsu replied with a nod. The waiter stepped aside to let him in, and then disappeared down the street.
Being the middle of the day, the establishment was filled with more people than on the lonely night when he had visited previously, but that didn't mean anything to him. Even if the place was packed, if he could see that lovely pianist again it'd all be worth it!
... That's what he told himself, anyway. But where was she?
The grand piano she played often was still sitting in the corner of room, but the seat itself was vacant.
'Is it her day off?' Karamatsu thought to himself. Although he tried to fight it, he couldn't help but let his smile settle into a soft frown. He didn't think of that, but he supposed it couldn't be helped.
"Heh... Fate can be cru- booeh-!!"
In the middle of his 'awesome' monologue, the door to the restaurant opened once again, now hitting Karamatsu in the back. He lurched forward, hands reaching up to soothe the bruised skin.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!"
"H-Heh... No problem." In an effort to save his dignity, he stood up straight, (still wincing in pain despite his best acting) looking at the person who spoke to him. When he did, he practically choked on air in his shock.
Her face had the same expression, but it quickly morphed into one of happiness. "It's you! It's nice to see you again."
Did he get a high temperature in the last few seconds? Because his face felt really warm! Then again that might be because it was hit earlier.
He quickly posed, his hand under his chin in a finger gun motion. "Yes, it is I. It is an honour to see you again."
She laughed lightheartedly, her face as bright as her smile. "I wouldn't say it's an honour... But thank you. What brings you here?"
"What else other than to hear the sounds of beauty itself, made possible by the siren's fingers?" He stated boldly. The woman's face was blank for a moment before her lips parted in surprise.
"Ah... You mean, m-me?" She asked, pointing an uncertain finger to herself. Karamatsu nodded, holding back happy tears. He would have died if he stuttered on that line!
"Ahaha, t-thanks. But, you really came to hear me play again?" Was her query, her eyes looking particularly sparkly.
"Of course, it moved me." Karamatsu answered without thinking. It was true what he said, but he wanted to say it in a cooler way...
She clasped her hands together in front of her, beaming. "I'm so glad! I've always wanted to move somebody with my playing, just like Eric Satie! Gymnopedie No. 1 is a soothing but melancholy song... Oh, but there's also Waltz Op.34 No.2 by Chopin! It's such a quiescent and beautiful piece!"
She stopped suddenly in the middle of her gushing, her eyes wide. "Sorry, I was rambling, wasn't I? I haven't even introduced myself either..."
Karamatsu on the other hand didn't mind the ramble at all, in fact he would have been fine listen to her talk for hours on end if it mean he'd see the same ecstatic look on her face. Wait, though! This was his chance, finally!
"U-Um, yes, I'd like to know your name." The words fell out his mouth before he could stop them. "Hhmh! If you're fine with telling me such a thing!"
The pianist looked relieved to see he wasn't alarmed by her gushing from earlier, and let out a breath she didn't realise she was holding. "Of course I'm fine with that! My name is Y/n."
She held out her hand. Karamatsu eyed it for a moment before he bravely lifted it to his mouth, giving it a chaste kiss before he could think twice about it.
"Matsuno Karamatsu."
His vision was a bit dark due to his sunglasses, so he couldn't tell, but was her face a bit flushed? There's no way he was taking them off though, because it'd show his red face!
"It's nice to meet you, p-properly this time." She chuckled a bit as she spoke, making Karamatsu relax. "I'm sorry for keeping you though, it might be boring just to listen to music here..."
"That's not true!" Karamatsu quickly denied her statement, causing her to look up at him questionably. He found it hard to string together a sentence with her staring at him like that.
"W-Well... Heh, a guilty guy such as myself only needs the sounds you produce. That itself would be more than enough."
The pianist ran a hand through her hair, a bashful laugh leaving her lips. "If you say so... T-Then, would you like to sit with me?"
"Eh?" Karamatsu honestly couldn't believe things were going as well as they were. Sure, he got hit with a door twice, but that didn't matter!
She pointed at the grand piano in the corner. "Over there!" She said, then smiled. "Maybe I can even teach you!"
'Teach?!?!?!' They'd have to be close together for that. "A-Ahem, that's fine with me."
"Great! I've never had the chance to teach anyone, so this will be fun! Ah, but we should probably move away from the door. Boss is looking over here..."
A man with sunglasses like Karamatsu's stood stiff and straight behind the bar. The fact he couldn't see his eyes made Karamatsu gulp. He didn't look like that, did he?!

The second eldest brother of the sextuplets thought he'd be ready for most things, especially today as he had been spending days thinking of any and all outcomes, but this was something he'd never be able to see coming.
With there only being one seat, a stool at that, there wasn't enough room for both of them. That was fine, as there were enough chairs in the restaurant. However with so little space between the wall and the grand piano, Karamatsu had to sit pretty closely to be able to see the keys.
Perhaps Y/n was just too excited about playing piano that she didn't notice it herself, but Karamatsu was finding it hard to stop himself from shaking at the close proximity. Maybe things were going too well.
"The piano here is amazing, it's interesting how different a song can sound depending on the piano." Y/n said, nodding to herself. Karamatsu noted the way she looked down at the black and white keys fondly.
"... So, is there a specific song that has own your heart?"
She held a thoughtful expression. "Hmm... Ah, I just can't choose. There's just too many that I love, and many pianists that I look up to."
"Oh, but if you tell me how you're feeling, I can play a song that reflects that!" She offered, subconsciously leaning forward.
"H-How I'm feeling?" His voice went noticeably higher, causing him to quickly cough into fist to mask it. "Hmm, well..."
Karamatsu paused, watching the pianist smile at him with such genuine interest, her shining eyes not even dulled by the darkness of his sunglasses' lens.
"I'm... Content." He finally replied. When Y/n didn't respond right away, he panicked slightly.
"Ah- is that not enough?" He questioned. She shook her head, giving him a reassuring smile.
"No, I know just the thing." She said softly, and turned to the piano. Her hands settled over the keys, looking both gentle and elegant. After placing her fingers correctly, she begun.
The tune was sweet and light hearted, that even if Karamatsu was in a bad mood just the melody itself would remedy it. He watched in total awe as her fingers glided effortlessly across the keys, her expression a tender one. For some reason, he was feeling a bit emotional.
Y/n continued, her fingers slowing as she reached the end of the song. She let out a sigh, folding her hands in her lap.
"Was that alright-? Ah, Karamatsu-san?!" She turned to see his reaction, but turns out it was quite the strong one. Tear after year rolled down his cheek as he bit his lip.
She quickly dig around her pocket, fishing out a tissue. She dabbed at his face gingerly, looking worried. "Karamatsu-san, are you alright?"
He nodded, clutching at the fabric by his chest. "That was so good, Miss. Pianist...!"
She paused at the nickname, an amused smile on her face, but was overall embarrassed at the extremely genuine compliment. "W-Well, I'm glad, but... I didn't want to upset you..."
He shook his head. "No, it's me. A guilty guy such as myself... To be in your prescience, it's a sin." He said dramatically.
Y/n wasn't sure if he was joking or not, but he seemed fine... Mostly, anyway. "I see... I like your presence though."
"Huh?" He stopped himself from saying more, looking back at her in his puzzlement. She suddenly got bashful.
"Sorry if I'm being too forward! It's just... I don't get to share my love for piano with many people, so I'm just... Really happy right now." She admitted.
Karamatsu sniffled again, causing her to quickly wave her hands in a panic. "Don't cry, really, it's fine!"
He nodded, but couldn't contain the warm feeling in his chest. She sighed again, but smiled.
"Anyway, why don't I teach you something? How about... Neko Funjatta?" She suggested. When he looked at her with both a blank and worried expression, she giggled.
"Don't worry, it's not too hard, I promise! Besides, I'll be here next to you."
Karamatsu was glad she turned her gaze back to the piano keys, as she missed the flustered look on his face once she said that.
The song itself was quite basic, and would have been easy for the man if not for the nervousness that decide to overtake him now that Y/n was kindly guiding him. Whenever his hands would freeze up or fingers would press the wrong key, she'd put her hands over his and showed him the right way. Although her intention was to help, it actually did the opposite. Still, it was fun, and Y/n seemed to agree as her face was lit up.
When they finished the song, she clapped. "Well done, Karamatsu-san!"
He pushed up his sunglasses, hoping she wouldn't see that they were shaking. "Heh. Only thanks to you."
She chuckled. "I hope I was an okay enough teacher. I had fun!"
"I did, too." Karamatsu responded, smiling at her happy demeanour. She looked at him to meet his eyes when they went wide.
"Oh, is it already that time?!"
Karamatsu looked behind him. Through the glass window he cold only see darkness accompanied by the soft glow of street lights. Even the restaurant was mostly empty save for some staff!
"Sorry, I lost track of time." Y/n apologised, looking guilty.
Karamatsu quickly shook his hands dismissively. "No, no! Don't be sorry, I enjoyed my time here... With you." He quietly added.
Her cheeks went a tint pinker, opening her mouth to reply when the two of them felt a third presence, like someone was watching them...
"U-Um, we should probably go. It's closing time after all." She said. Karamatsu quickly agreed, and they made their way outside.
The night air was chilly in comparison to the heat of the restaurant, but the silent streets and clear cloudless sky gave of a certain calmness. Y/n shuffled her feet, presumably thinking about what to say.
"... Ka-Karamatsu-san!" She called. The person in question jumped, quickly trying to cover it up with another cough.
"Y-Yes?"
She avoided his eyes, looking down at her fingers as she tapped the tips of her index fingers together absentmindedly. "I... Well, if you'd like to, I'd like to see you again."
Looking up, she quickly changed her wording. "Only if you want! I understand maybe you might think I'm annoying, or pretentious..."
"No!" Was his hurried outburst, it sounding particularly loud in the empty street. "I mean... Heh, non non Miss. Pianist! Didn't I say? It'd be an honour."
Her worried frown turned up into a shy smile. "... Yeah, you did."
Silence settled over them before she quickly spoke again. "Then... Take this!"
She quickly picked up his hand, putting something in his palm before curling over his fist, the action causing a flutter in the shades-wearing man's stomach.
"Well... See you!" She quickly bid goodbye, and walked at a brisk pace into the night. Karamatsu stood in shock, both at the fact that things went extremely well and that she basically held his hand.
After forcing himself to get over it, he opened his hand and saw a piece of paper with a string of numbers on it, long enough to be a... Phone... Number...
There was a loud shout of joy resounding in the still street.

A/N: Here's part 2! I'm happy that people liked it enough for a second part. I was listening to songs from Deemo to help describe the music. ^^
