Jones' record.
~(Y/n)'s pov~
After Drix fixed the dam, it soon got in the news and now, we are at the mayor's office. Also, my best friend's work place. My best friend's name is Leah. She's the mayor's assistant.
Anyway, me and Jones decided to try and talk to the mayor about the guy we saw at the dam. We believe he's 'the red death' because of what he told me.
Now the mayor came over to us after he made a big speech about some chicken wing festival.
"Congratulations officers! Excellent work in the nose today!" the mayor said, walking over to us.
He then grabbed Drix's hand.
"Come over here, let's take some pictures." he said.
He and Drix got in front of the cameras as Drix started flexing.
I gave Jones a little shove on the shoulder to make him try and talk to the mayor and it worked.
"I want the caption to read 'mayor and pill stop cold....cold.'"
"Mr. mayor? Um...Mister mayor? Excuse me sir, but we have a problem." Jones said as the mayor grabbed his hand and shook it.
"What are you talking about, Jones?" the mayor said to Jones in a serious voice but also making sure nobody else heard it.
The police chief started taking the news people out of the room.
"I think what happened in the sinuses is a lot more than a common cold." Jones explained.
"Sir, don't listen to Jones. His diagnostic skills are remedial at best!" Drix yelled.
"You're the little cherry aspirin who iced a key witness to a viral attack!" Jones yelled back at Drix.
"That was an accident!"
"Yeah, the kind of accident only a time release dipstick like yourself would of have!"
"Oh! I am so sick of you!" Drix yelled, putting his arms up in the air. "That's it! I can't work with you!" he crossed his arms and turned away from Jones.
"You can't work with me? I can't work with you!" Jones yelled, crossing his arms and turned away from Drix.
"Jones! Drix! Please! Settle down!" I yelled at them.
"Jones, what is this, t-this virus, you're talking about?" Leah asked Jones.
"The virus that torched the throat. The virus that caused those half-inch snot crust I was just surfin'!" Jones said, turning around.
"Those snot crusts were caused by the sneeze and the sneeze was caused by you!" Drix said, point at Jones.
"Oh yeah? Now how come (Y/n) and I saw that viral-looking mother fleeing the scene of the crime?! Tell me!" Jones yelled and Drix seemed a little shocked.
"Sir, maybe we should put the city on full alert. You know, liquids, bed rest. You know, just to be safe." Leah said.
"We will do no such thing. I'm not gonna postpone out trip, just because the white blood cell with the worst record in Frank, thought he saw something." the mayor said.
Wait. What? 'Record?'
The mayor then grabbed Jones' helm of his shirt and pulled him down to his level.
"Listen, from now, keep those opinions in that mushy little head of yours or you're gonna find yourself in our next nose bleed. Understood?" The mayor said and let Jones go.
The mayor then turned to Drix.
"Son, I apologize for all of this. Now how about we find you another more capable officer to work with." The mayor said, walking to his desk.
Jones seemed really hurt by that.
"Uh, sir, if it's all the same with you, I think I'll stay with Jones and (Y/n)." Drix said.
The mayor looked up at this. So did Jones.
"Wow." I said.
"Suit yourself." The mayor said, turning in his chair.
~time skip to being in Jones' car~
"You know, you didn't have to do that. The last thing I need it your sympathy." Jones said.
"This is not about sympathy. I was sent into this body to make it feel better. So, if this alleged virus has anything to do with that mission, I must pursue it." Drix said.
"Yeah, whatever." Jones said.
".......Hey Jones? What did the mayor mean when he said you had a record?" I asked.
I saw that Jones looked up a bit.
"You did something terrible, didn't you?" I asked.
"(Y/n), sometimes being too careful is all it takes." he said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"A couple of years ago, I was cruising the digestive track. Just minding my own business. Outside, it was Shane's school science fair, and everyone was real excited because the winner was gonna get their picture on the front page of the local paper. I was working the kidneys when I heard about a 16-31 in progress. That's incoming shellfish. So I headed down to the stomach just to be safe. And then I saw him. He road in on the clammiest-looking oyster I've ever seen. I looked over and saw the puke button and I pressed it. There was no time to ask questions so I did what I had to do. You probably guess which photo made it to the front page of the paper the next day. Over night, Frank became the town laughing stock. The photo got picked up and ran to every daily across the country. He even got fired at his job at the pea shop factory. Lucky for us, our old friend, Bob, hocked up Frank a job at the zoo. It was a 90% cut in pay but it was the best we could do. Neediness to say, none of this helped Shane. And as for me, I got suspended for unnecessary force. Sense then, not a day has gone by that I haven't wondered 'did I do the right thing?'" Jones explained.
I've heard about this, but I never knew Jones did this.
"You know, Jones, from your description, you sound like you were justified." Drix said.
"Excuse me?" Jones asked, surprised.
"Drix is right, Jones. Oysters are a breeding ground for any number of dangerous bacteria." I said and that put a smile on Jones' face.
"They are! That's what I've been trying tell everybody! They are! Darn right they are. I never thought you'd be on my side." Jones said.
"I'd never thought you'd be right." I said, teasing.
