Sigyn wasn't used to feeling any kind of kindness, between Bloodhair's abusive tendencies and Skade's manipulation, all she'd ever known was pain. So when she wakes with another nightmare she gasps for air and leaves to seek out the monk with a beautiful smile. She quietly opens the door to avoid waking Sihtric and Finan, and she kneels before Osferth to shake him lightly. When the monk finally wakes he rubs his eyes in confusion, it does not fade when he sees her sitting next to him.

"Sigyn? Has something happened?" He whispered and she shook her head no, the monk grabbed her hands and motioned for her to crawl into the bed. She laid on her back staring up at the ceiling and he turned on his side gazing at her face, she was unaware he was studying every feature he could.

"My sister plagues my dreams, Osferth. And I wanted to speak with someone, my options of friends are pretty short." She says with a bitter smile and turns her head to him. Osferth frowns as he listens and reaches for her hand to softly trace the tattoos on her fingers. When she turns to lay on her side he moves his hand to her face and cradles her cheek in his hand before he moves it down to rest on her neck.

"What do they show?"

"Death and betrayal. I know that both she and Bloodhair will die. I had always thought once she did I would continue to live, but what she has shown me says otherwise. I don't want to die, Osferth." She speaks softly crying and Osferth doesn't hesitate to pull her into his arms. Sigyn curled up against him and nuzzled her face against his throat as he rubbed her back.

"We will not let you die, Sig. I will not let you die. I swear it upon my God and your own." He whispered into her ear as he stroked her hair softly, she fisted his shirt in her hand and hoped he was right.

Unbeknownst to them, Sihtric had woken during the night and found them curled around each other asleep. With a fond smile, he pulled the fur blanket around them and tucked them in before leaving the room. He wished that he could introduce the girl to his wife and son, but Sihtric couldn't explain the protectiveness he had over Sigyn. But she was both like a little sister and a daughter to him and he vowed to make it so Skade would never harm her again.

Hours later, Sigyn and Osferth woke to the sun shining in their faces, she groaned in annoyance and tried to cuddle deeper against his body. The monk having realized the position they were in blushed and looked around hoping Finan was still asleep. He turned to see Sihtric in the doorway with a grin and the Daned moved to wake Finan, the Irishman grabbed Sihtric and pulled him into the bed.

"Sigyn, we have to get up." He whispered as he silently judged his friends. The girl nodded and sat up with a catlike stretch, she giggled when Finan pinned Sihtric to the bed and playfully kissed his forehead much to Sihtric's dismay.

"Sigyn, I do not remember you joining us last night." Finan teased as he was shoved to the floor by Sihtric.

"You are not wrong, I just needed someone to confide in." She said with a smile and ruffled Osferth's hair as she went to leave them be.

She joins Uhtred outside as they wait for his men to join, she watches the lord quietly wipe his sword down with a cloth. She had never met someone so willing to adopt in outcasts as he was, but she was grateful for him and his loyalty.

"Did you sleep well?" Uhtred questioned her.

"After some time, yes. My sister is not fond of me," She trails off. "Freedom." Uhtred frowns over at her as they hear Finan's boisterous laugh in the distance.

"You will always have freedom with us, Sigyn." Uhtred nudged her shoulder gently as his men joined them.

"Lady Sigyn, beautiful as ever." Finan teased with a grin, she waved him off with a smile.

"I think you hit your head from the fall this morning." Finan scowled at Sihtric when he laughed, and Uhtred looked between the group confused.

"I had hoped you did not see that. Sihtric likes knocking me down, it seems." Osferth smiled at the Irishman and turned to Sigyn who giggled at the bickering friends.

"You stayed in their room?" Uhtred asked her only.

"I wanted to speak with Osferth." Uhtred nodded slowly still not understanding but chose to let it be.

"Finan." A male said behind them.

"Father Beocca, it's good to see you." Finan said and stood to greet the priest. She noticed Uhtred wasn't paying attention to the newcomer and turned to the priest as he spoke.

"Osferth," He nodded at the boy and then turned to her. "Lady Sigyn, I hope they are treating you well?"

"Of course, Beocca. They are too kind to do otherwise." Beocca didn't seem to fully believe her but smiled at her.

"Dane boy looks like a rat." Beocca said turning to Sihtric. Sigyn didn't like the insult nor did she believe Sihtric looked like one.

"I am Sihtric."

"Your wife Sihtric, she has left Coccham and returned to the inn at Winchester." Sigyn frowned when Sihtric clenched his jaw and turned away.

"She has? Is she well?" He asked quietly.

"Oh, she is well. And she is loud." Finan chuckles at the remark but Sigyn places a hand on Sihtric's.

"I'm sure she loves you, Sihtric." She whispered and smiled when he turned his hand over to hold her own.

"Some privacy?" Beocca asked.

"Sit yourself down, father. We all need to piss." Finan smacked Sihtric and motioned for her and Osferth to follow.

"Her too?" Beocca asked as Sigyn waited for Osferth to join them.

"She goes with us. Where we go, she goes. And vice versa, father." Finan said and kissed her head as they walked away. She couldn't help but think that one day Finan would be a wonderful father.
