The News

3rd Person

The boys woke up around eight and got ready for the day.

"Come on guys, let's go downstairs," Elijah motioned. Sub stayed put.

"Please Sub?" Alex asked him. Sun sighed and rolled his eyes, but in the end, he came. Denis stuck close with Braden. Sub stuck close to Alex. Everyone else kind of floated around as they went downstairs to the living room.

The living room was huge. It could fit three full size couches. All of the younger boys already filled up one couch. By younger I mean kindergarten age and below. On the second couch were boys who were about the groups age. Denis, Braden, Alex, Sub, Elijah, and Ethan joined them. On the third couch were the teenage boys. Mr. Green came into the room.

"Good morning boys," he said cheerfully with a smile on his face.

"Good morning," the boys choursed back.

"I have wonderful news," Mr. Green started.

"Oh joy," Denis muttered, sarcastically.

"We will be holding an adoption picnic at the end of the month. July 29. Isn't that exciting?" Mr. Green was hoping for some reaction.

The teenagers sighed, because they knew everyone would consider the younger boys. Denis crossed his arms.

"No one will adopt me!" He shouted.

"I'm sure someone will," Mr. Green reassured Denis.

"They won't 'cause I'm bad," Denis smirked.

Mr. Green looked shocked. "You're not bad Denis."

"Then why do you say I am?!" Denis shouted, and stormed up the stairs, sobbing. Braden looked up at Mr. Green; he thought Mr. Green would never say that- especially about Denis. Braden got up slowly, then ran after Denis. Mr. Green sighed.

"Go eat your breakfast," he told the boys. Everyone got up and flooded to another room. Alex couldn't help but look the staircase where Denis and Corl went. Elijah and Ethan looked concerned too. Sub was good at hiding his emotions, so his face looked expersionless.

"Should we-" Elijah starts.

"Let's not," Alex said turning to the dinning room.

Braden's Pov

"Denis, what Mr. Green said about you isn't true," I gently told him.

"You don't even know what he said!" Denis said through sobs muffled by the pillow.

"Well, maybe I don't, but I still know it's not true," I told him, "besides, uh..." I trailed off. Keep in mind that I'm only seven!! And I'm comforting a nine year old. Odd I know, but I was his best friend.

Denis sat up. His nose was runny, and his face was red. He wiped his tears away.

"Uh, exactly. It's time a get away from this stupid place," he scoffed, getting off his bed.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused.

Denis started pulling out clothes from his drawer. "I mean I'm running away."

"No! You can't do that!" I shout.

"You're right. I can't. You can run away with me too."

I was shocked. I couldn't leave the only place that was helping me survive.

"I can't run away. In fact Denis, I'll try to stop you," I put on my mean face. I guess I didn't really work because he laughed at it.

"That's cute Braden, but it not going to stop me. Nice try," he smartly said, stuffing all of his clothes in a plastic bag. Ugh, that smart alac!

I did the last thing I could think of: grab onto his leg, and hold onto it for dear life.

"Okay, now this is getting childish," Denis spoke as he crossed his arms.

"I am a child, Denis." Like, duh.

"Hopefully you're a light child." He tried to lift his foot up, but I dug mine into the ground.

"You. Aren't. Going. Anywhere." I told him in slow, baby distant, Denis finally gave up trying, and sunk down to the floor. I still clung on. He looked into my eyes.

"You don't know what it's like, do you?" He started; becoming more distant, "To find out that a fire killed everybody, and being left with a baby sister. And then running away, and living on the streets with her. And running into street gangs until someone called social services on me and being ripped away from your sister. And being taken away somewhere where life only got worse. It was better on the streets. You don't know what it's like," he sadly sat there, reflecting on his past. I got really angry at what he said rather than feeling sorry for him. My blood was boiling by now.

"Well, you don't know what it's like to have your dad die from cancer, and your mom killing herself because of it!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. "Plus, the world doesn't revolve around you, you know! I'm sure every single person could relate to you, and you act like your all alone, and that every single person is supposed to feel sorry for you! Well, guess what? The world doesn't revolve around you!" I wasn't clinging onto his leg anymore. Heck, I didn't even want to be near him!

"Fine then! I'm definitely leaving now!!!"

"Good, I'm glad!" I turned my back, and walked out the door, slamming it shut. It wasn't until then I realized what I had done...

A/N: Hmm, I wonder who can't sleep now. Probably no one, lol. And if you can't... I can try to update tomorrow night. No promises.
