TWENTY

"Wait a minute, Daniel did what?" Janelle asked Diamond as she was replaying the events of Thursday afternoon. It was a Saturday now and the girls were catching up, well Janelle was checking up on her friend who was reeling from a broken heart and broken spirit only to be told that Daniel had done something and it did not surprise nor shock her. She did say that Daniel was a creep and was in love with Diamond.

Diamond was cuddled in bed; she has been feeling sick and very, very blue since her encounter with Mr York senior. She was cut up really bad and what made matters was that Orlando didn't even call her or check with her if whether she was fine. His father thought his son cared about her, but she was not seeing that care in any way.

She hasn't reported to work and he never called her to ask of her whereabouts, they were done.

And it hurt. It hurt her so bad. She thought they had a bond, that they had something strong going on, that they were friends and had each other's backs. How delusional she was.

But what has messed up her mind even more was when Daniel came to visit her on Thursday. And she retold the story to Janelle.

A knock resounded on Diamond's apartment door and she groaned, not feeling like visitors but her phone rang the same time as the knock and she saw it was Daniel, there was no use ignoring him; he has been sending text messages the whole week wishing to see her.

She wiped her hands as she was eating biscuits while reading a science fiction book, she enjoyed a variety of fictional novels, her usual were humour, chick lit and romance, one time she decided to spice things up and bought a science fiction book, it had a little to do with romance and more to do with science but it was a good read. It kept her mind off Orlando and his monster of a father.

"Hey... I've been trying to reach you all week, are you okay?" he asked, letting himself in her apartment.

Diamond sighed and closed the door behind her. "I am a little... under the weather. But I will be fine. I want to be alone." She told him and he wanted to hear nothing of it.

He made a fuss over her, asking what was really wrong and the more she refused to talk about it the more he pressed on the matter. He really looked concerned and Diamond shrugged and decided to tell him what had her under the weather and her hair messy like a bird's nest.

"My boss's father paid me to leave my job and leave his son alone because he thinks I want his son and his son also wants me. He doesn't want to have a nobody getting their claws on his son." She gave a tight mouth smile, her eyes showing nothing but sadness and that broke Daniel's heart. He preferred to see her with a smile on her beautiful face.

Diamond told him what really went down, even disclosing how they weren't in a relationship but only pretending to be in one. Daniel smiled at that, he was mad when he saw the article of them kissing. It made him so mad.

"You don't need them, you have me baby. Don't worry your pretty head, I won't hurt you." He told her, walking towards her. Diamond narrowed her eyes into slits, confused as to what he meant by that. They were just friends, that was an odd thing to say. She backed away but her back hit the door and she had nowhere else to go.

"I loved you the minute I saw you Diamond. Be mine, I won't hurt you, I will love you, I promise. You will be my princess and everything you want I will give you." He had a dazed look in his eyes, like he was miles away in thought.

"Daniel..." Diamond called out she had no idea what else to say, she was lost for words. What was happening??

Daniel pressed his body against hers, his two fingers on her lips hushing her up. She quickly clamped her mouth shut, eyes widened. He was a man possessed. "I will love you the way you should be loved princess. I will treasure you and our children." He took a whiff of her hair, inhaling deeply. "Strawberry shampoo, I hate strawberries but your hair smells divine. See I love how you take care of yourself. I want to take care of you too." He told her, he was no longer in the same world as she was and all alarms in her head went off.

"Daniel please move away." She told him but the words were almost jumbled as he hadn't removed his fingers on her lips.

"No baby, this is a sign that rude man left you, he doesn't love you like I love you. He doesn't deserve you, I do. I love you Diamond. You belong with me." He said. He looked at her, held her gaze and he didn't notice the fear dancing in her eyes... he removed his fingers and went to kiss her but was met by her cheek instead, Diamond had turned her head to the side, refusing to kiss him.

"Daniel, leave me alone. Don't do this." She pleaded with him but he sharply turned her face back to facing him and again he tried kissing her but she clamped her mouth shut and by the power she had mastered in gym, she pushed him away and he stumbled back. She opened the door and ran out to an old lady's apartment down the passage.

"I told you that man is twisted." Janelle confirmed her earlier suspicions of the man since they met. There was just something odd about the way he looked at Diamond, it really was alarming.

"I don't know... I mean he did send me a message apologizing for his behaviour and that I shouldn't fear him. I don't know, he was really creepy." Diamond said. She was cuddled deep in her blankets, refusing to shower or go outside. She has changed the locks on her door in case Daniel had her keys and she always stayed locked up. She was even thinking of returning home to just take a break from the city life.

"Stop defending him. He is a creep." Janelle hated how diamond tried to see good in everything, it was in her nature but that was annoying and could lend her in hot water one day.

"Okay, I know you don't want to hear about work and you know who, but he hasn't been at work the whole week. His father has been the one to steer ship and yeah... no sign of Orlando." Janelle told her and Diamond was confused. Even when Orlando had trips out of the country his father never stepped in, the managing director of the company took over and worked with Diamond and his own secretary in steering the ship, hearing that Adrian York was now back in the office to oversee the day-to-day activities in his company did come as a surprise. Where was Orlando?

"Whatever." Diamond curtly replied even when she wrecked her brain for questions she was asking herself internally, receiving no answers.

Janelle looked at her friend and kept mum; she had nothing else to say. It was already dark outside and she wanted to hit the club and blow off some steam after the rough day she had with an ex of hers.

"How about you take a nice shower, do your makeup and dress up? Let's go out and have some right type of fun. Let's forget about Orlando and Drew for the night, please?" she begged and Diamond agreed not that she could forget about Orlando and his dangerous smirk or his touch and his damn kisses in one night over alcoholic drinks. She agreed as she knew Drew put Janelle through the most and having to deal with him constantly was draining and wearing her out.

There was this hot club that served chilled vibes and no crazy mumbo jumbos and the two ladies decided to go to it, The Dusk & Dawn. The club was vibrating, it was enticing and when they arrived; the smell of cigars and type of hookah could be detected in the air. Music blasted through speakers and it wasn't as jam packed as other clubs but it was nowhere near empty as well. They were lucky to find an empty couch just after looking for a while and they ordered their drinks.

Diamond looked around seeing people dancing and drinking their lives away, laughing and enjoying. She wanted to be drunk and be on that level already. She decided to look up and that was the VIP area, she wasn't about to waste her money by paying the membership fee just so she could be up with the who's who of town, and drink expensive alcohol that would be probably buy her a second hand car or a whole apartment. She scanned the area and lots of the people up there were at the railing looking down at them, the regulars.

No lies, it was hip and happening down on the lower level, people let loose and enjoyed life to the brim. Her eyes were stuck on a particular man, Raymond, she could clearly see him from where she was seating and their eyes met. He was standing next to a man whose back was to them and he tapped on him and pointed to her.

She knew who it was, from the back as she noticed Raymond, without a doubt she knew the man next to Ray was none other than Orlando York. He wasn't dressed in formal attire, instead he was wearing a black biker jacket his hair a mess like he has ran his hand through it many times. She loved his boyish look, he looked handsome as hell.

He looked down at her, she was beautiful, and she looked hot as hell in her black shorts that showed too much thigh as she sat down, a white long sleeved oversized top and her knee high laced peep-toe heels. She was a stunner and looked sexy as hell with her hair down.

He felt his heart skip a beat when their eyes met, has been only a week he hadn't seen her and it felt like years.

She looked at him and like someone splashed cold water on her, she snapped out of the trance and whispered something in Janelle's ear before standing up and disappearing in the crowd. Orlando's eyes stayed on her until he saw where she was headed, to the restrooms.

Diamond couldn't believe that she'd be at the same club as Orlando. She wasn't sure how she felt but she had to catch a breath, away from his penetrating gaze.

She calmed herself down and decided to leave the bathroom, her heart almost slipped out of her mouth as she found him leaning against the wall just right outside the ladies' bathroom.

She knew he was there for her and didn't know how to react.

"Barry..." he breathed, damn stupid idiot looked so good, and he looked smoking hot in jeans, a tight t-shirt and the biker jacket. Give the man a cigarette and a bike and you will see girls jump on him, literally.

She walked towards him and he pushed himself off the wall and met her half way.

No one said anything to each other.

They just held each other's gaze.

Green to blue, they stared.

His eyes casted towards her lips, she licked them.

"Fuck this." He growled before pulling her roughly in his arms and kissed her hard.
