NINETEEN
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU SAY TO HER ADRIAN???"
"Watch your tone boy, I am your father and you shall respect me and treat me as such."
"Right now, I can't respect you because for some crazy reason, I know damn well you have said something hurtful to her and said something that will make her walk away from me."
"It is for your own damn good son. You don't fucking need her, you have me, you have Logan and you have this good life, let her go."
"She is the good part of my life, she is my friend, she cares for me, and she considers my feelings all the time, all the time. When she hurts me, she panics, when I am happy, she's happy and content. She makes life worth living; you can't dictate her out of my life."
"Well if she considers your feelings, son... then why did she take the money I gave her so she could vanish into nothing?"
"What? What money?"
"I signed a two million cheque and she took it and left you. Did she consider your feelings? No, she took the money like all the gold digging women in New York City and she left. So I did you a favour. If you dare disrespect me again, I will have your head."
Orlando groaned as he replayed the scene over and over again. The more he drank the whiskey, the more his thoughts heightened and they all circulated around her, Diamond Barry and his father.
He thought she cared about him, he let his walls down for her, he allowed her in his space, he trusted her with his all and she dumped him, she screwed him over for a weak two million, two million dollars over loyalty and love... love.
He loved the woman, romantically so. She was what he needed in his life, a woman strong willed, a woman with a backbone and a woman who always considered his feelings. But he was wrong, she was just like the rest of them, a gold digging bitch.
"Whoa! You need to sleep buddy, no more drinking for you." That was Raymond and he was currently housing his best friend in his house and it has been over a week and nothing has improved. He drank every day from the minute his eyes opened, to when he passed out on the couch. Raymond had offered him a spare bedroom but he has been passing out on the couch every single night, Raymond just left him be. He couldn't exactly carry a man his size to bed now could he?
"Leave me alone..." Orlando slurred, trying to reach the bottle from his friend.
"You need to sober up man. I haven't seen you this messed up since Aunt Logan's death." Raymond said and Orlando looked at him, his eyes dull and void of emotion. That hit a nerve and Raymond wished he could take it back but he couldn't, it was just impossible.
"Funny... funny how I see my mother in her. Diamond cares and has a heart of gold. I can't believe she's gone..." Orlando expressed his feelings and Raymond just listened to him, still keeping the bottle of whiskey far from his reach.
"I didn't know I loved her until she left me. I could fee-" a hiccupped interrupted him and he almost threw up on the couch but he got himself together.
"I love her. There is a hole in my heart that she left..." Orlando was never vulnerable and if ever he was cut up about something, feeling sad, cranky, Raymond was his go-to guy. He was the only man he trusted with his emotions and recently he has learned to open up to Diamond. He was afraid of her seeing all of him, but now she was gone and he felt stupid. He felt like he was a fool, a fool who fell in love with a girl that vowed to never love again.
Raymond listened to his friend and he was scared of what this crazy little thing called love could do to a person, more especially to his best friend who always seemed to be strong and holding everything together.
Raymond went to his kitchen and emptied the bottles of whiskey down the drain while he brewed a fresh pot of coffee. "Here, drink this. Should help you sober up."
Orlando for once didn't disagree; he took the steaming cup of black sugarless coffee and drank it all. They never spoke again, just drank cups of coffee in silence. They ordered Indian food; Raymond thought his friend needed the spicy food to help him out of his drunken state. He also was regretting the cups of coffee he was consuming, he wouldn't be able to sleep on time and that will mess him up for his day tomorrow. He had to meet a client with a rape allegation and he had to have a clear mind for that, it was a serious matter.
"I am in love... and it's funny the person doesn't feel the same way about me. Is this karma?" Orlando asked, coffee and the spicy hot food were helping and he wasn't as drunk as when Ray came back from work.
"Did you ever talk to her? Asked her what was really going on?" Raymond asked and Orlando shook his head.
"So she can hurt me more? Pass." He answered, devouring the chilli chicken wings they added to their menu. They were really hot and Orlando coughed and drank his already cold coffee, trying to cool down his mouth and soothe his throat.
The man really looked like shit, haven't been to work in a week, haven't shaved in a week and he hasn't bathed or showered in three days. He just couldn't bring himself to care.
"Since you don't want to talk to her, then I suggest you claim your life back. You look like shit man, take a shower, shave your shit and get back to work. Unless you wanna mope around and lose money, be my guest." Ray said.
Orlando kept quiet for a second and nodded, he needed his life back. "But I am not going back to dad's company. I am going to work on my shit. He can handle his business and I will handle mine." his mind was made up. He was going to focus on his casinos, restaurant and the newly acquired hotel that Diamond actually helped him secure. His father will be on his own from now on, he was tired of taking shit from the old man simply because he couldn't deal with his feelings and haven't healed from his broken heart.
"Man your old man wanted a break, you can't ditch him." Raymond thought his friend was being hasty.
"Well he brought this on himself. I could continue if he stayed out of my business and allowed me to live my own life and love who I want to love. But since he is so messed up, he will manage his own damn company himself." He left no room for argument. He was a man with a made up mind.
"So what's next?" Ray asked.
"I am going to shower, shave and find myself someone to fuck tonight."
Orlando York is in love!!!!!
