[New Friends]
Charlie let out a soft sigh of relief as she peered from around the corner. Phew, it was safe. For now, at least.
Trying to be light on her feet, she began to slowly walk out from behind the alleyway. Now walking down the middle of a paved road. She was glancing around every so often, just out of paranoia that a zombie might sneak up on her.
Hey! She was the one who tested on them, not get bitten by them. Thank you- and sure, it was broad daylight. And as far as she was concerned, they don't appear in the day, but you never know-
Her train of thought was caught off as she saw something rather... tall in the distance.
Was that a... tower?
Straining her eyes against the sunlight above her, she hummed with confusion. What did that say...? Naively, the soon to be nurse continued to tred forward. Unaware of the many pairs of eyes watching her every movement.
Soon enough, she could recognize what was in front of her more clearly.
It was indeed a white tower, with a big and bold logo of 'MISFITS' sprayed ontop of it. Hm, that name rang a bell. She remembers something about Ironwood saying that. Looking around further, she saw there was a barricaded wall. It looked impenetrable, especially with that barbwire surrounding it-
"FREEZE!"
Charlie let out a surprised gasp, her body going as stiff as a scarecrow as fear inched up inside of her. Uh Oh.
Realizing it now, she suddenly saw who said that. Standing on the wall was a boy by the looks of things. He appeared to be a little older than her, and his eyes were two different colors! Curiosity was now mixing into her perplexing emotions at the sight of that. A panda hat was on his head and some sort of baggy bandana seemed to be covering his face. At the bottom of said bandana, it had the same logo the building had. 'MISFITS.'
Looking more closely, which was easier considering she was up close, she saw them. More of them.
There was a girl, messy hair with cute white bunny ears sat on her head. One of her clothing straps slipping off from her shoulder.
A boy wearing some weird suit thingy with paint splattered all over him, weird orange hair too. He had a mask covering his face, vent-air things painted on it as well... jeez, okay Darth Vadar-
Another boy who wore mostly green stood next to Darth Vadar, a normal mask over the bottom half of his face too.
Another boy (jeez, how many boys were there?) who looked all bloody up, bandaged wrapped around his wrists, over and under his jeans- he looks like he's seen some things.
And there was another girl! She had pretty blue hair and some rather black clothing.
"Don't. Move."
Snapping out of her little daze, she focused on the situation at hand here. And the guns pointed at her. Oh dear. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to leave Safe Haven-
Nervously, she raised her hands up- to show that she surrendered and meant no harm. "P-Please! Don't shoot!" She stuttered, her eyes wide with fear as she tried to show she was harmless.
The panda boy seemed to squint his eyes suspiciously down at Charlie, making the girl want to shrink back. He looked rather scary-
"Where did you come from?" He questioned, still pointing the gun directly at Charlie's head.
The girl seemed to comically gulp, trembling as she replied. "S-Safe Haven."
"Oh!" The neon-colored boy seemed to especially perk at this, his gun already titled downwards as he stared curiously at Charlie. TItling his head like a puppy dog.
Charlie found herself surprisingly calming down a little bit at the innocent action.
The boy with the panda hat seemed to let out a long sigh at this, his shoulders not untensing, but his gun lowering. "Stand down."
Just like that, the rest of the 'MISFITS' she assumed, put down their weapons. Now just seeming to stare her way. Which just made her feel awkward and uncomfortable. They might as well have kept them pointed at her!
Austin still looked rather suspicious of Charlie as he leaned against the wall, still throwing questions at her for a hopefully good answer. "What are you doing out here? Did Colonel send you?"
"U-Uh, heh- nooooo?" Charlie answered honestly, awkwardly clearing her throat as she slowly put her hands back down. She oddly still felt like she was at gunpoint with how this guy was looking at her. It was like she was under a magnifying glass.
The boy in the panda hat looked, a little confused at that. And before he could ask, another Misfit (the green one) asked: "Well then waddya' doin' way out here?" He seemed a lot more friendly than the panda boy.
Charlie let out a sheepish chuckle at that, clearing her throat as she went: "Weeeeeeeell- He told me and, s-someone else about a group of teenagers he met." She informed, not hearing the bloody and bandaged guy whisper 'teenagers?!?' to the rest of his crew. "And I just, wanted to meet them. Maybe m-make some friends my age ya' know?"
"Wait- let me get this straight-" The bunny girl suddenly cut in, raising an eyebrow as he looked down at the other female. "So- you sneaked off and went against the rules, just so you could make friends?"
"...uHHHHHHH-" Charlie mumbled, seeming a little embarrassed as she realized... that sounded a lot worse said out loud. "Hehe- yeeeeeaaah?" She said slowly, almost wincing at how weak she sounded.
The bunny girl looked weirdly down at Charlie... before a bright smile lit up on her face, turning to the rest of the group. "I like her- I like her a lot."
Charlie blinked. O-Oh? That was, a good thing?
"She looks like a doctor." The ginger whispered to the group, looking down at the girl like a curious cat.
The green one seemed to nod rapidly at this, rapidly whispering back to him with equal fascination: "Yeah! And look at those goggles too." He looked almost in awe as he stared at them.
Charlie couldn't help but smile, while also feeling a little self-conscious. She liked to think this was a good thing. Hey, she hasn't been shot yet so-
"Do ya' like money?" Charlie suddenly perked, turning her head over to the bandaged and rather bloody one. He looked expectingly at her, and she had a feeling if she were to say no. Then there would be some problems.
Charlie comically gulped, "U-Uh... yes?"
The guy seemed to grin at this, almost devilishly, as he looked intriguingly down at her. "Well, then I think we'll get along just fine then." He laughed, his accent was... interesting she found, it was a little funny. I-In a good way!
"Woah, woah, woah. Who said she could just come in here?" The panda boy announced suddenly, now rallying up the rest of his troops so he could have a stern word with then.
Charlie awkwardly shuffled in place, looking off to the side as she unintentionally eavesdropped. She quickly found they weren't, the quietest of people at the moment.
"She could be a spy."
"Austin! Just, look at her!"
"Yeah come on boss! She's harmless-"
"Yeah boss, hey- we'll uh, we'll check her! Yeah! So we know she's safe."
"..."
There was a quiet sigh, before suddenly, heads emerged from the walls once more. The panda boy somehow looked even more serious and stern than before.
"Check her pockets, if there's nothing dangerous then she can walk over."
Suddenly, everyone, but the panda boy, erupted with joy as they whooped and hollered.
The bunny seemed to bounce over the wall and run excitedly towards the other girl, the bluenette joining in and almost speeding past her.
Charlie yelped as she saw the quick movement, jeez they were fast! "I'm so excited to have another girl in the group!" The bunny said, a bubbly smile on her face and in her personality. It made Charlie oddly want to smile too. "We could work on some blueprints I have- oh! I know, maybe we could-"
"Hey! Don't hog her!" The ginger huffed, almost childishly as he now approached the situation with the green one trailing behind him. "Yeah! What he said-"
"She's not an object." The weird accented one chimed in, now calmly walking up to the group.
The blue-haired girl rolled her eyes, "We can take turns." She stated, now turning to Charlie to formally introduce herself.
"Ahem, hello. Sorry for the idiots beside me." She grinned, making the boys stutter in protest. "I'm Marshie." She introduced, a shifty... but also welcoming grin on her face. She too was glad to have another girl in the group.
"Hi! I'm Bri- and I like gummy bears!" The bunny introduced, smile as blinding as the sun itself. "Don't mind Austin, he isn't scary once you get to know him."
"Hi, uh- my name's Seeka." The green one introduced, giving a friendly nod towards Charlie. It was clear to tell he was smiling behind the mask, just from the way his eyes crinkled up a little bit.
"I'm Colin! It's nice to meet you," The ginger warmly introduced, chuckling as he saw Charlie up close.
"Hey, I'm Devin. As long as you don't double-cross me, I think we'll get along nicely." The bandaged once grinned, winking as he put both hands in his tattered pant pockets.
Bri, the name Charlie now knew belonged to bunny girl, excitedly poked Charlie's arm. "So? What's your name?"
Charlie's smile was wide, and absolutely overjoyed as he looked at everyone.
"Hi everyone, I'm Charlie!"
