[Brother's Nostalgia]
Bryan let out a small huff as he heard the faint sound of a tire screech. He sighed as he began to walk to the farmhouse door. He already knew who it was, he didn't even bother to speak over the coms- he just lifted the gate up at the push of a button and let his brother in.
He stood at the gate, with his arms stubbornly crossed, and a stern look across his face.
This was the first thing Mario was greeted by when he entered through the gate.
Sighing, he walked up to his brother, looking just as determined as always.
"How long do you indeed to keep this up Mario?" Bryan asked him, leading his brother up to the farmhouse as they walked side-by-side.
Mario in question sighed once more, tiredly running a hand through his raven black hair. "We've been over this before, I don't think I need to explain it this time."
"I know... but I still can't believe you wanna be out there instead of in here. It's much safer-"
"That's your opinion. You know how I am..."
"Yeah... I do..."
The rest of the walk was silent as Bryan opened the door for them both, leading Mario over to the kitchen table to discuss what the trade was this time.
Half-way into the trade, Bryan began to get bored at all the machinery parts for his tractor. Sure they were useful, but he was just... bored with this pattern. He wanted to do something... fun. Sure, Kay is great when she comes over. And she lends a helping hand which he always appreciated.
But he wanted something different, yet the same.
And then he perked, letting out a small gasp as he lifted his head up. He just got an idea!
Mario, stopping his movements from getting the next gear, raised an eyebrow up at his brother. Oh jeez, what is it now-
"I know that look," Mario suddenly called him out, squinting his eyes suspiciously as he saw his brother get this... giddy smile twitching widely up his lips. "Annnnnnnd my answer is no."
Bryan blinked, the look of 'wHAAAA' all over his face as he made a few noises in protest. "But-!" "No buts Bryan. We're here for business, I've gotta get back out there-"
"But it's gettin' late!"
"So?"
Bryan let out an annoyed groan, running a hand down his face as he let out a long sigh. His brother could be a pain sometimes.
He soon gave his brother a serious look, which caught the Mario off guard. "Mario." The farmer slowly began, giving a small but worried glare his way. "You're worrying me. Every darn day you're out there and leave me to wonder if you're gonna disappear from my life..."
Bryan trailed off, his features turning a bit sadder as he tilted his head off to the side. "Just like ma' and pa'..."
Mario appeared to blink, seeming to look down for a moment as he began to think. His face held, remorse for a second. He, didn't know Bryan felt that way...
They stayed quiet, for a long while. Who truly knows for exactly how long.
...But Mario was the one to break the awkward silence, lightly clearing his throat to gain Bryan's attention. Mario felt as if he would regret this, but- "What was your idea?" He sighed, causing Bryan's eyes to light up.
Bryan let out out a small chuckle, leaning his forearms on the island counter to bend in closer to Mario. "Well, back in the good ol' days-"
"Oh no." Mario's eyes widened.
"We used to play this game see-"
"I regret asking."
"Hide n' Seek!"
"Oh god-" Mario suddenly groaned, seeming to dread this idea.
Bryan gave him an amused look, simply laughing at his horror as he pushed himself off of the counter. "Aww come on brother! It wasn't that bad back then was it?"
Mario grunted at that, running a hand down his face as he was hit with the nostalgia. "Yeah, except the times where we played that game I couldn't find you. Seriously, you were hiding on the roof one time. How did you manage that?!" He ludicrously blurted out, making the farmer sheepishly chuckle and bashful rub the back of his neck.
The military boy sighed, turning his back to Bryan as he ran a hand down his face. "Okay, forget I even asked." He told, now turning back around to inform him:
"We are not playing- aaaaaaand he's gone."
Mario blinked. He looked around left to right, and yep. Bryan wasn't anywhere in sight. "Oh come on!" He said dramatically after a groan... only to then hear a faint quiet giggle.
The male seemed to freeze at this, Bryan was close by-
Wait, was he actually already considering...?
...
Mario seemed to let out a soft sigh, rolling his eyes as he covered both of his eyes with his hands. Beginning to loudly count to thirty.
Hey... a few rounds of hide and seek couldn't hurt right?
