Kay's pov
---------------------
I had just finished making a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies and was putting them on the counter to cool off a bit when I heard the door to my bakery open.
"Ah, hello Miss Kay." I heard Nix say from the doorway.
"Oh! Hello Nix! What brings you to my bakery. Wait do you want some cookies?" I said while wiggling my eyebrows in amusement.
"Sounds lovely Miss Kay. I was also wondering if you by chance were acquainted with someone that keeps coming on the island." Nic said a strange smile appearing on his face.
It kinda had me worried.
"Uh, well you'd have to give me a name! Or at least a description of the person first!" I replied cheerfully.
"I haven't been able to talk to them but I have seen them around the island a lot, and I must admit that I believe they may be an intruder." He said 'honestly'.
"Oh, well do you have any description for them if they're around the island a lot I may be able to give you an answer!" I feel a tad, happy that their someone that comes to our island but then again it could mean trouble.
"Oh, every time I see them it's only a small glimpse, unfortunately, I guess I'll have to inform Lopho considering I don't have a description for you." He said in a sort of disappointed tone.
"Oh well, that's too bad. I was hoping I could be a bit useful here." I said a little downcast as I remembered the last time I went on a quest was some months ago.
"Hmm, well just keep an eye out for someone with blue hair. That's the only thing I manage to see every time." He said trying to cheer me up.
"Oh well if it's blue hair it's probably Jakey!" I said taking notice of a strange look in Nix's eyes.
"I don't know, the pigment of the blue was too dark to be Jakey's but it could've just been a trick of the light." He said with a sigh.
"Well, I better go report this to Lopho," Nix said as he went out the door of the bakery.
"Okay!" I replied as he left. I guess I should get to work on some orders now. The only other person I know with blue hair is Viper, and I think the only reason he'd be sneaking around would be to avoid certain members of the guild.
I already know he's not to find of Nix and he doesn't like Lopho at all. I'm also pretty sure that he and Bryan have a sort of rivalry. So he'd probably want to avoid talking to them.
"Hmm, maybe it was him sneaking around..." I said to myself, as I prepared to make a new batch of cookie dough. I was thinking of peppermint sugar cookies.
I started to hum and spin around in a sort of dancing motion while moving around the bakery.
Unaware of a set of unseeing eyes watching me.
Vipers pov
----------------
I was walking through the Protectors island, after finishing the errands that cat had made me do.
And was on my way back to Grimshade. As I was walking I smelled baked good and lots of them, I was probably passing by Kay's bakery.
I decide to drop by and see if she'd heard anything about what has been going on around the city. She might know something, with how much she gets around.
I walk up to the door of the bakery and catch her in the act of dancing while baking. It was... Endearing to say the least and interesting I hadn't seen her dance before, well there was the party but even then it wasn't this fluidly it was more so a quirky way of having fun.
She just kept spinning and doing little hops here and there. I had probably been starting for a while now so I cleared my throat to get her attention.
"Hmm! Oh! Viper, it's been a while since I've seen you here! How can I help you?" She said in her usual chipper tone.
"Well, I may have heard from someone you have a knack for picking up information. Is that true?" I ask, not wanting the reason I came here to be false.
"I suppose so, I mean I do get around the city, with having to pick up all the baking supplies and helping other small-time business owners out with little errands. Now that I think about it I do tend to pick up on things while I'm doing those odd jobs." She said a little lost in her thoughts.
Jeez, I knew she was at least acquainted with some people in the city but I'm just going to hope she doesn't help out every person she sees. Who am I kidding it's Kay, of course, she would, she's too nice not to.
"Hmmm, well did you happen to hear anything about lacrimas?" I ask hoping to get some form of information.
"No, wait! I did hear something but it was a while ago. I don't know if it would be helpful at all but, I did hear someone mention lacrimas and docks in the same sentence but when I tried asking about it they just brushed me off saying that I was hearing things." When she finished talking she was completely out of breath, I honestly can't believe she said all of it in one.
"At the docks huh? Any Idea which one?" I asked her knowing that she would probably not know.
"No, but I do know the name of the person I was doing errands for!" She said happily.
"Really now? Well, who is it?"
"Well, Nix handed me a quest for a Mr. Penny. So that's who I did errands for."
"Wait the water mage?"
"Yeah! Wait you know Nix??"
"Met him yesterday. Wasn't a very comfortable talk. " I said remembering what Jasper had said to me after talking to the water mage.
"Really? What did he do to make you uncomfortable?" She seemed a little concerned about the context I gave her.
"After I had finished talking to him. Jasper gave me a warning to keep an eye on him."
"Oh! That's a bit concerning..." I'll think I'll tell Lopho about that. If it's okay with you of course!" She half shouted the last part.
"Go ahead, it's not as he'll listen. Especially when he learns the information came from someone that knows me." I said shaking my head.
"When it comes to our guildmates I think he'll listen to my concern, and who said I'd tell him where I got the info?" She said, a hint of mischief flashing through her eyes, and a cheeky grin applying itself to her face.
"Ah, I now see why people call you a fox," I said a barely noticeable grin formed on my face.
"What!? Me a fox! I'd never!" She said in an overly exaggerated voice.
I couldn't help but chuckle a little.
"Well, I have to head back now. Have a nice day Kay." I say as I walked to the door.
"Before you go take some of these Peppermint sugar cookies!" She said handing me a little pouch filled with said cookies.
"Heh, alright see you next time." All she did was give a smile as I walked away.
The End!
I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it!
