Part 1 - The Timeless Forest

Even as one of the youngest dragonets in the rainforest, Reva could still understand that nothing much really ever happened where she lived.
The rainforest was the typical place where things preferred to stay exactly the same.
Every passing day was like deja vu.
Over.
And over.
And over again.
Morning.
Then food gathering.
Then sun time.
Then dusk.
Then night time.
Then the cycle just repeats.
Could it be that she was just different?
The fact that she was a hybrid shouldn't affect the way she sees the rainforest.
Shouldn't it?
It never helped knowing that she was a wanted "criminal" against the rainwings.
She was a dragonet.
What could she ever do to hurt anyone?
"Reva, darling! It's time to hit the hammock." Reva's mother bellowed to her from across what seemed to be the entire kingdom.
Reva took off running to her home.
She couldn't fly yet but boy was she a fast runner.
Her mother was waiting for her when she arrived.
"Is daddy here? when will he come back? Do I really have to go to bed? Can't I stay up a little longer?" Reva said catching her breath.
"Hold onto your mangos, darling." Her mother said. "No, your father is not here. I don't know when he will come back. But you still have to go to bed."
"Ok." Reva said walking into her tiny RainWing hut.
She jumped up into the hammock while her mother stayed close to the door.
"Goodnight, mommy." Reva said and dozed off into a deep sleep.
Her mother looked at her and smiled knowing it would be useless to say goodnight to her daughter while she was sleeping.
Reva dreamed about her father.
In this timeless forest only he was the one exciting surprise that could brighten her entire day.
Every time she asked if he was home she was always gambling, making a wild guess as to when he would return.
If only he could just stay.

That next morning, Reva woke while the sun was still low in the sky as she often did.
She expected the day to go by as normal.
Her normal routine.
A normal schedule.
Until her mother came into the hut after she awoke.
"Reva, my darling." She said, "look who is here to see you!"
Reva jumped in excitement.
There was only one dragon on the entire continent who she could be talking about.
Reva ran outside their little hut to find a tall, deep red dragon with twisted, black horns, a long snout, and piercing amber eyes.
"Daddy!" Reva yelled in excitement and jumping onto her father, hugging his long neck tightly.
The SkyWing hugged her back with his giant wings.
"Goodness, Reva! I can't believe it!" He shouted in joy. "You have gotten bigger and your beautiful voice has developed so well. You are going to turn out a lot like your mother."
Reva's mother started turning a light pink.
"Come on Daddy, you only saw me a couple of weeks ago." Reva said.
"Yes, but sometimes only a couple of days can feel like centuries." He replied.
"Why can't you just stay with us then?" Reva asked.
Both of her parents went pale, her mother literally.
"That's something we can tell you when you are a little older." Her mother said.
"Besides, I have some fun things in mind that we can do today," her dad said. "I wouldn't worry myself about that when I could be having the time of my life."
Reva just smiled.

It was dusk after the long day Reva had.
However, this meant it was time for her father to go back to the Sky Kingdom.
Reva and her mother were saying their goodbyes when her mom said:
"So, Reva. Your father and I have done some thinking and we've decided, that when you're old enough, your father will allow you to go and see the Sky Kingdom with him."
Reva's face lit up.
"No way! Really?" She gasped.
"Yes, but that won't be till years to come." Her father said.
"I, know." Said Reva. "But I will be waiting for your next visit till then. I love you, daddy."
She jumped up around his neck again and almost choked him from her tight hug.
All that time that they spent with each other that day went by so quickly.
She was sad that her father was leaving but she couldn't help but to be happy that she would get to leave with him someday.
She couldn't shake away the thought that the Sky Kingdom would be the complete opposite from the rainforest.
In the Sky Kingdom, every day would be a complete surprise.
Every day would be different and new.
That was all she could ever ask for.
Because in this timeless forest, everyday was exactly the same.
