Chapter Three: Discovered

That was the beginning of the Nightwatchers. They would continue to find other missing people until justice was exacted. After collecting Damon's stuff, they put his bike and got away in one of the dead agents' cars. They didn't want to be found or caught because of the license plate. "So, do you know whether or not my parents are alive?" Damon asked, looking up at the man driving the car. "Like I said, doing the same thing you're doing, kid. Do you think I would be if they were?" was Damon's answer. Seems legit, he thought.

"We need nicknames in order not to give away our identities. My primary weapons are darts, so I'll be Dart. And you ... are a CIA agent who went rogue to uncover what happened to the missing people. I'm gonna call you ...  Rogue. And I think we need to look the part. And we need a better arsenal." Dart suggested. All Rogue had for weapons were two silencers. "True ... How about we rob a gun store? We could could get a better supply, more ammo. I'm almost out, anyway. It's already closed for the night because it's around 2100 hours." Dart considered it. That could help. Now, he won't have to fight just using kitchen knives and darts. "Alright. How about the police department, as well? We could use more protection."

They only had a leather jacket and T-shirts. "I guess we could. Gun shop first, though. And we have to be careful with the security at the station, by the way. Lord knows how many guards will be out there. And there will be cameras to dodge, too." Finn pointed out. "Ok. I'll fix that, but I'll have to explain it later." Dart explained. About ten minutes later, they were one block away from the shop. The rogue agent parked the car and hopped out.

"Why here? The shop's all the way over there." Dart asked. "Well, it won't be suspicious if we pull up next to a closed shop and break in, now will it?" Rogue responded sarcastically. At that, Dart packed anything that would look suspicious into his backpack, put it on, got out, and followed Rogue. They started walking in the opposite direction of the shop. Rogue subtly stuffed his guns into a jacket he put on before he got out.

"So, what's the plan? I mean, we have to get in there somehow," Dart wondered. "We're gonna walk around the building to avoid suspicion and I'm gonna use a pair of lock picks to break in. If anyone asks, keep quiet. I'll just say that I left my phone in there, you're my son, and I need to retrieve it. Once we collect our weapons, we'll escape through the roof. Then, we use the ladder on the side of the building to climb down and we head to a Japanese tech store downtown. They'll be open for the next two hours, so we won't have to worry about getting there late."

"Why a Japanese tech store?" Dart asked patiently. "We need some Bluetooths in order to communicate." Rogue responded.

They walked in silence around the block towards the store. "That snap, that was you, wasn't it?" Rogue asked. Silence. "Look, it's your first kill, I know. I know it's hard. But this might or might not make you feel better, but once you keep doing it, it gets easier." Rogue assured. "It does, actually. If finding my parents means I need to kill people, so be it." Dart answered grimly. "Damn," Rogue muttered under his breath.

As they approached the store, they realized there weren't very many people around. But they did notice the street cameras. "Crap. Alright, hold on." Damon pulled out his iPad and started muttering to himself. "What're you doing?" Rogue demanded. Dart responded with,"Hacking into the main security matrix. I'll have to break down some firewalls, but when I finish, I'll be able to shut down the cameras in there. That will only give you a five minute window to get in and steal the weapons. Are you ready?" Dart asked hurriedly. After clicking and muttering, Rogue responded,"Okay, now!" Rogue burst through the door and looked around frantically. Damon was constantly tapping away on his iPad.

"Find two L9A1s for me, Rogue!" Dart whispered loudly to him. Rogue, Finn thought to himself. It's got a nice ring to it. He grabbed what Dart wanted plus a few other things for himself, then he took Dart to the roof. He stopped disabling the firewalls and put his iPad back into his bag. They climbed down the ladder and walked quietly to the car.

"Onto the tech store!" Rogue exclaimed as he opened the car door. They drove for about fifteen minutes until they reached the tech store. After walking inside and purchasing their Bluetooths, they stood outside and synced them up. "Testing, testing, one, two three, alpha, Romeo, tango." Rogue said into the Bluetooth. "Copy." Dart responded. Their Bluetooths were working. Now, they needed to get down to the station.

They hopped back in the car and Dart put on his suit while Rogue drove there. "Ugh! Why is it so hard to dress inside a government vehicle?" Dart exclaimed. "Lack of space, genius. Hey, how'd you find me, anyway?" Rogue responded. "Your last-seen location. Why were you going to that location?" Dart questioned. Rogue's face darkened. "Long story ..." he trailed off.

"Okay, let's change the subject, shall we? How about ... how are we gonna take out all the guards at the station? They're all on the good side, so we can't kill them. Oh, I got an idea! Okay, we need to head back to the gun store!" Dart exclaimed. "Wait, what? Why?" Rogue asked him, confused. Dart looked right at him and said,"Tranquilizer darts. I can sneak behind them after disabling the cameras and stick them in their necks." Rogue considered it. Not killing them would be the better option. "Alright. Let's go."

As they came to a T-junction, Rogue turned right instead of left to head back there. Once they got there, they went through the procedures and escaped with their loot. "Alright, we can head to the station now," Dart said as he hopped in the car. No response. Rogue never entered the car. He looked back at the shop. "Rogue?" he called out. He tapped into his Bluetooth and said,"Rogue, come in. Where are you? Over." Static. Not good, he thought. What if I didn't do the cameras right? No. Impossible. There's now way he missed something; he's a genius. Hacking the cameras was the easy part. So, that means someone caught him.

As Dart hopped out of the car to investigate, he felt something extremely cold grasp his shoulder, and then he blacked out.

Damon's eyes fluttered open. He was back home. Oh, no. How do they know where I live? More importantly, who knows where I live? He looked left and right and his eyes focused on Finn sitting in front of him, zip-cuffed to a chair with a broken nose. He was unconscious. Suddenly, a burst of blinding light appeared in front of him. Damon looked away, frightened. When he knew there was no more light, he looked to where it had appeared. It was Zach.

He appeared just as he had looked when Damon left the house. "Zach, wha-what the hell just happened?" Damon asked who he thought was his brother, voice trembling. In an echoed and demeaning voice, he responded,"I am Zachariah, the angel. I was never your brother. I was sent here from your birth to protect you. I implanted memories of me as an only child into your parents' minds. They never knew I was an angel."

"Well, why were you sent to protect me?" Damon asked, worry and curiosity in his voice. After waiting a second, the angel looked at him and said,"Because God has big plans for you."
