Chapter Nine: The Lab

"What the hell are we doing here?" Rogue asked. Turns out, the person who trained them all didn't go with them. He just placed them there in hopes that they would figure out they're roll in that setting.

"Beats me," Bullet responded. Dart and Traverse both searched their environment for clues as to why they were put there. After searching for what seemed like hours, they saw something rising above trees surrounding them. It was grey, clouded, and rising really high. Almost miles.

"Bullet," Dart called. He zipped over in less than a second.

"'Sup, boss?" he said.

"See that?" Dart pointed.

"Yeah," Bullet responded, seeing what Dart was talking about.

"Can you find out what that is?" he wondered.

"Yup," he answered. He rushed away, circling the location. Mere seconds later, he was back.

"Holy crap," he said, panting. "That was an explosion of a lab. It was huge. Let's go check it out."
At that moment, he picked up Dart's body and rushed him over there so he could see for himself. What he saw was the lab of George Tucker, the man he had been seeking. Dart told the others of their discovery via telepathic connection and they were there in less than ten minutes.

"Shall we go in?" Rogue asked. Dart nodded and they followed him through an empty, burning doorway. Pieces of the metal lab fell to the ground, clanking as they tumbled on the dirt. What they saw inside was inhuman. There were bodies of children everywhere, some burnt, some not. Some were decaying as if they had been there for years. Horrified and shocked, Dart tried to contact the angel, hoping for some backup. They heard a deafening boom from above. They looked up through the holes on the ceiling, seeing something coming straight down towards them at Mach 3.

"Take cover!" Dart ordered. They all spread out in different directions, trying to avoid whatever was coming down. Approximately eight seconds later, it burst through the ceiling, making a giant gaping hole from which sunlight entered. They stared in awe at the crater that formed in the ground. A steaming figure was kneeling in the center, steam radiating off of it. He slowly stood, wings expanding. The figure was Traverse.

PART TWO

"Everyone, he's here!" Traverse shouted. They al, came out from their hiding places, confused. "He's here!" he called out again. "Who's here?" Dart asked. Traverse sprinted over in large strides. "George is in the lab."

All of a sudden, George teleported where Traverse had landed. He was a large, muscular creature. He still had on lab clothes and looked very old and terrifying. He looked as if he knew Dart. But that was impossible. He had his mask on; there was no way he could tell he was Damon Cro. Maybe a sense of DNA came with the new looks.

"Damon Cro," George grunted. "Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long, long time." He apparently hasn't lost his sense of intelligence. Baffled, Dart replied: "George Tucker. You killed my parents. Prepare to die. ENGAGE!" A few of the team members caught the reference and charged at the crappy excuse for a man.
