Chapter Five: Fang
Zachariah suddenly had a devastating headache. He tumbled to the ground, landing on his hands and knees. Images of Damon's cousin, Noelle, flashed in his head. She was being bitten by an alien of some kind. It looked a lot like a snake, but it was certainly not of this world. She had been bitten on the left side of her neck. Her veins glowed red and black. She was being rushed to a hospital. Then, everything just stopped.
"Damon, you remember your elder cousin, Noelle, yes?" Traverse asked him, panting. "Of course," Dart responded, confused. "Doesn't she live in Birmingham?" Struggling, Traverse stood up and regenerated, due to his angelic powers. "She was bitten by a snake-like alien. They think it was a timber rattlesnake, but this is otherworldly. She might gain new powers." Dart furrowed his brow. "Such as...?"
"Such as being able to shoot concentrated thermal rays from her pupils. She can now touch someone, and at will, poison them. She can camouflage herself and blend herself with her surroundings. Also, she can regenerate at a mind-boggling rate. Your cousin is now inhuman, Damon." Traverse explained. "We need to get to her aid. Give me your device," he gestured. Dart did as he was told and gave it to him. He opened Notes once again, held his finger to the screen, and let go. He handed Dart his pad back and walked towards Bullet and Rogue. He touched two fingers to both of their heads, transplanting the addresses and names. He told them to find the others while Dart and him went to Noelle's aid.
He walked back over to Dart and transformed back into his mortal form. Dart followed suit and pressed the button on his watch and his suit was sucked back into his watch. "She's in the hospital?" Damon asked. "Zachariah's eyes rolled to the back of his head before responding. His eyes went back to normal and looked at him. "Room 307."
The angel disabled the field and Zachariah touched Damon's shoulder and teleported them into the room. "Oh, my God," Damon gasped witnessing the effects of the alien. She was practically glowing. Zachariah walked over and touched two fingers to her forehead, and she didn't have the glowing red and black veins any more. She jerked up, inhaling at a fast rate. She started panting slowly, looking around the room desperately.
Her eyes darted around the room, eventually resting on Damon and the angel. "Where am I?" Noel's asked her cousin, frightened. Damon went to sit on the side of her bed. She scorched a few inches to give him room to sit. "Noelle, your life has just been changed. You were supposedly bitten by a snake-like alien, which they seem to think was a timber rattlesnake. You can now shoot lasers from your eyes, you can poison people just by touching their skin at will, you can regenerate exponentially, and you can become invisible." Damon explained. "How do you know this?" She asked. She looked to Zachariah, then back at Damon. Damon looked back at him. "Can I tell her? She's family, Zach." Damon asked him hopefully. "Of course, Damon."
They sat in that room for about ninety minutes explaining what their mission was and the people they were working with and who Zachariah was and why he was sent here. When they were done, Damon invited her to help them and their cause. She thought about the offer, absorbing and processing the information.
"Yes," she answered.
