This is a Damon preference which will be based off of the song Chemical by Kerli.

"Open up my eyes and feel your heartbeat. As we lay with your body pressed against mine"

You turn around in Damon's arms and your eyes flutter open. You look at the sleeping Damon in front of you. How could he still look so breathtakingly gorgeous with messy hair and bad breath? Maybe he looked more gorgeous than usual like this.

The room was dark so you were guessing it was still night.

You played with his dark black hair as you waited for him to wake up. It felt so comfortable with his body pressed against yours yet you felt your heart race. You wondered why. Why does he make you feel this way?

Damon slowly opened up his eyes and watch you just staring at him. Which you hadn't realized you were staring for so long... It actually caused you to blush which made him smirk.

"Good morning,"You said trying to forget about the whole intense staring that had happened.

"Good morning, creepy,"Damon bit his lip looking into your eyes.

"I'm not creepy! I-it's just th-that welll you had a stupid look on your face while you were sleeping and I thought it was funny so I was about to wake you up and make fun of you but you woke up beforehand which startled me and made me not be able to move... Ya, that's what happened," You stutter and nod.

He rolled his eyes and laughed at you. "Sureeee, that's definitely what happened,"He smiled and brushed your hair away from your face.

You blushed again and shook your head.

All he did was smile and pull you closer as he looked into your eyes.

You looked back into his eyes and bit your lip.

"And I know in this very moment this will be, this will be, till the end of time. I want you to know... This love is more than chemical. It feels unusual"

And in that moment of gazing into Damon's eyes, you realized that this wasn't just a fling. That in that moment you were staring into the eyes of the love of your life. You knew, you just knew, that this would last forever... Until the end of time.

"I love you,"You whispered by accident. You quickly shut your mouth and your heart started to race in fear. Oh no, what did you just do?!

Damon looked at you shocked and you felt like you could just burry yourself under the blankets and never come out.

You see, this so called "fling" had been going on for a year and a half. After all the emotional things that had happened with Elena, an acquaintance of yours and an ex love of Damon's, you and Damon had started this relationship. It wasn't anything serious but it wasn't something that you just threw away. You cared about each other and that made it hard for you to have a fling with each other.

You vowed to yourself that you wouldn't fall for Damon and he did the same. But you broke that vow. And you could only hope he broke his.

It was silent for a while. And you just couldn't lay there anymore. You got up and grabbed your clothes and quickly put them on while Damon did the same then made your way to the door.

"Y/n?"Damon said quietly.

You paused at the door, your hand on the doorknob. You sighed and stared at the door waiting for his response.

"I love you too,"Damon answers causing your stomach to flutter with butterflies.

"Damon that's not something you can just say. You have to mean it. This love that I have for you is not just some chemical love. This isn't just some human/ animal instinct. It's not just attraction. It's not just me thinking, oh you're attractive and now I want to get married and make babies with you,"You both chuckled at that last part.

"Y/n,"Damon began to say something but you interrupted.

"No. Let me finish. It's more than just my brain telling me that you are fun in bed and I like spending time with you so I must be in love with you. This is my heart telling me that I don't want to ever leave you. And I can't get enough of this love, I can't get enough of you. And you are so, so important to me. And I know that you'll always love Elena and I know that I'm nothing compared to her but..."you tried to say but Damon suddenly appeared in front of you and puts his hand over your mouth.

"This love is more than chemical. And we're unbreakable. Oh we'll be forever more"

"I love you. And there's no doubt about it. It's more than just some chemical science thing where I want you just because I think you are attractive. You are amazing and beautiful and wonderful and caring and our relationship is unbreakable. You are my best friend and someday I want to marry you and I want to be able to show my love for you in front of everyone and I want babies with you,"Damon told you. You both chuckled and you could feel tears begin to fall from your eyes.

"And Elena is gone. Yes I loved her and yes I still do but I want you to be the one that helps me forget her. And I want you to be the one I move on to. We will be forever more. Because a friendship like ours, the everlasting bond and knowing that we will always be there for each other, will definitely last,"Damon continued with a smile.

You licked his hand, like your normal childish self, in which Damon quickly pulled his hand away and looked at you in disgust.

You smiled at him. "That's one of the sweetest things that anyone has ever told me,"You kissed his cheek.

He smiled at you seeming to forget about you licking his hand and pulled you up to him causing you to wrap your legs around his waist and your arms around his neck.

He kissed you gently and then left a trail of teasing kisses down your neck.

(And you guys know what happens next so Time Skip...)

"Every time the darkness falls around me, I can feel you move beneath my skin. And something strange is happening inside me. Don't know where you end and I begin"

You rest your head on Damon's bare chest. Your breath tickling his skin as he moves slightly. You could hear his heart racing which made you feel happy for some reason.

You felt like you were one person together. That you would only belong to each other. That you would have dove eyes, that you would be loyal to each other. That you would love each other forever. You didn't know where he ended and you began.

Something strange was happening inside you though. Your heart felt like it might burst if it beat any faster. And your stomach felt like it had thousands of butterflies flying around in it. And all your eyes wanted to do was look at Damon. And you craved to be in his arms forever. This was a different feeling for you but you couldn't help but love it.

Damon felt the same. Elena seemed to disappear from his mind and all he could think about was you. He thought about your kindness, your beauty, your childishness, your clumsy ways, and your ability to always make him smile. He thought about your future together and how perfect it would be. He thought about how he would protect you no matter what. And how you would always be his.

You both knew that your love was a lot more than chemical.
