Alaric:
"Weeee,"You and Alaric's daughter squeal as you run around the house making airplane noises as you pretend you are an airplane. Alaric was beside you doing the same with his other daughter in his arms.

His twin girls, Lizzie and Josie, are beautiful and you love them like your own daughters. You've been spending a lot of time with them lately and it was great.

Alaric was just a stranger only three weeks ago and now he's your best friend. And you've started to become real good friends with Damon, Alaric's best friend.

You smile at Alaric and he smiles back. You get lost in his eyes and start to think about how much you love how loving he is with his daughters. You admire every bit of it.

He sets down Lizzie and you set down Josie. You haven't seen Alaric so happy and this made you overly happy for him.

Someone knocks on the door and the girls squeal. Alaric smiles and opens the door. A pretty blonde stood outside and Alaric's smile brightened as he hugged the blonde.

You took a step back and leaned against the wall, rubbing your arm. The girls smiled at the blonde but both stood by your side, clinging to your legs.

Alaric smiles back at you guys. "Come on girls, you are having a sleepover at Caroline's tonight,"He tells them. "But we want to stay with y/n!"The girls pout causing you to have a huge smile.

Caroline frowns and looks at you then smiles a bit. Alaric kneels down and signals for them to come to him. The girls reluctantly go to their father with their heads down. "Please go with Caroline. She is your mother after all,"He scolds them. When you hear that you raise an eyebrow and you frown.

"Ok, sorry dad. And sorry mommy,"Lizzie says. "Ya, sorry. We were just having a lot of fun with y/n,"Josie apologises. The girls hug their mom and Caroline smiles taking their hands. Alaric stands up and kisses Caroline's cheek. Your heart drops. "Thanks Care,"Alaric messes up the girls hair causing them to giggle and pout.

"Oh this is Caroline by the way. Care, this is y/n..."He says turning to you but you were gone by then. "Y/n?"Alaric calls confused. Caroline shrugs and waves goodbye.

The girls kiss their dad goodbye then look around for you. They sigh when they don't find you and ask their dad to tell you they said bye and to kiss your cheek for them. He chuckles and tells them that he will and Caroline smirks and winks at him before leaving with the girls.

You don't know why but your heart had broken. You've never been more upset. Tears fell down your face as you looked out at Alaric's back yard. As you leaned against the rail of his porch you knew you were overreacting but it still hurt.

Suddenly you felt strong arms snake around your waist and you quickly wipe away your tears. You lean back into his chest, knowing its Alaric.

"Why did you disappear on me like that?"He asked. "I- I don't know,"You whisper, closing you eyes as he kisses your forehead. "I think you do know,"Alaric states.

"Are you and Caroline together? I thought you said your wife died,"You asked two of the many questions racing in your mind. You heard him sigh and you looked up to see him bite his lip. The corners of your lips twitched up but you forced yourself not to smile and closed your eyes again.

"Caroline and I use to be together but now we aren't and she has a boyfriend. We have joint custody of the girls. We were supposed to get married but... She didn't truly love me back,"He frowned as he said it but shook his head. "My wife is dead,"He continued, his voice saddened.

You turned in his arms so you were facing him. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked. I was just kind of upset. I thought you and Caroline were together,"You tell him, ashen. "It's fine. Now you know,"He nods as he looks into your eyes.

You wanted to kiss him. Your lips only an inch apart. But you were scared and you held back. He wanted to kiss you in that moment but instead he kissed your cheek, you freezed and looked at him shocked. "That was from the girls. They couldn't find you but wanted to say goodbye so they told me to do that,"He smiles, gaining his courage, and looks into your eyes then presses his lips against yours.

You blinked then leaned into the kiss. You run your fingers through his hair as he pulls you closer, your other hand on his neck. You pull away and smile softly.

"So who was that for?"You asked casually. "For me. I just really wanted to kiss you,"He whispers with a light shine in his eyes.

That's when you knew you were falling for him. You loved his smile. His laugh. His twinkling eyes. His love for his daughters. His fatherly ways. His compassion. Him being so understanding. His pure beauty. His absolute sexiness. His aggressiveness. His bad past. Him being so secretive about some of his life. Him being so overprotective. His overbearing sadness. You loved every single thing about him, good or bad.

You just weren't sure if you were in love with him yet. You were falling but you weren't in love yet. "I really wanted to kiss you too,"You giggle with a bright, happy look in your eyes. He grinned. He was falling for you fast.

He might even be in love with you. He may be heartbroken from losing his wife and Caroline but he couldn't help falling for you.
