-Coffee-

You.
You're just like a sip of black coffee
The taste of your lips
Is nothing more than a bitter flavor
Lightly against my very own

Your words against my ear
Like small sugar cubes
Sweet and light
But how can I forget the bitter sweet taste
Of your lips pressed against mine

Your lips are the paint brush
My body, the canvas
Your words are sweet
But your actions are for another to
Admire and ravish

With your world colliding into mine
Sugar cubes and black coffee
A memory hazy like the night before
A confusion of the two

The light crashes in, against the white window  curtains
The kids playing
And cars beeping
Turning over to meet your bitter sweet lips
Yet to find that they were not made for my keeping

The coldness surrounds me
Blankets aren't enough
I get up and trudge to the kitchen
At the thoughts of you I scoff

Holding the warm cup
A Ring on my finger
I remind myself slowly
On someone else's skin
You're hands already linger

With a sip or two
Of the jet black coffee
A sugar cube or seven
I ignore the rest of you
Till the clock strikes eleven

When you come back
Your hands around my waist
Pulling me close, as if for protection
Yet I know safety doesn't exist in your arms
My trust to you is nothing more
Than the black remains

Of my bitter sweet coffee
