Chapter 1: I Fall Down
Chapter 1: I Fall Down
~ Invisible ~
~[My Little Pony Equestria Girls - Forgotten Friendship]~
"She's a wallflower. Some see the wall, but I see the flower in her."
*********
Have you ever had a moment where you're standing there in a crowded room. It's full of people and you want someone to talk to but you're to nervous to talk to anyone? Then someone starts to walk over to you and you're thinking "finally someone's going to talk to me" but then they literally walk right by you. You swallow the embarrassment and are okay with it. You come to the conclusion they wanted to talk to a friend or a buddy.
But what if it was a school dance? The big annual school dance freshman year and you were charged with the important job of serving punch. Honestly people get so thirsty and the drink bowl needs full supervision around high schoolers. So you're causally listening to the music, leaning against the wall and laughing at your ridiculous friend as she dances her way into people's hearts. Someone comes to the punch bowl. You had the ladle in your hand and you were about to go over when they lean over, look around and say to their friend: "Where's the person serving punch?" and you were right there.
I'm sure you've never had that that problem, most don't. But it's happened to me. Many, many, many times. Some may hear that and brush it off, saying that I'm self centred for wanting to be the centre of attention. But I don't want to be the centre of attention, last time I was I almost barfed on my principal. But I at least want people to stop looking straight through me, because after awhile you start to wonder if you even exist at all.
Thankfully I have a few people on my side to help me become solid. Mackenzie García, my best friend forever because we both know I'm never getting rid of her. We only met because she started choking on her lunch and I was the only kid in sixth grade who knew the Heimlich maneuver . My mom had a thing for safety in strong young girls as she began her business. Ever since I saved her life and she saved me from breaking into tears from kids stares, we were joined at the hip.
"It's not that I'm asking for attention, because trust me I'm not!" I said to Mackenzie was we weaved through the sea of students. "It's the fact that half of my teachers thought I was absent when I was sitting right in front of them that bothers me."
"That's sucks, Si." Mackenzie empathized as she sucked on a lollipop. "Ooh! Maybe next time you should wear a really blinding outfit so they can't help but notice you, you can borrow my yellow boa."
I shook my head as we arrived at our locker and opened it up. Ninjago High has so many students that some of us had to share a locker, since Mackenzie and I knew each other since forever we figured we could share a compartment. My half was tidy and there were mini posters of music artists on the door. Mackenzie's had a bunch of random items like frilled neon green notebooks, tap shoes, and an extra hat. Mackenzie was Spanish, her family originated from Columbia so she has a lovely array of Spanish curses she knows and uses when she sees fit. She also had a head full of brown curls that she always placed a new hat on top off. Fedoras, berets, cowgirl hats, you name it she got it. The obsession started at some point after we met but I can't remember when. She's always worn hats for as long as I could remember.
Today Mackenzie adjusted the rim of her top hat as she looked in the little mirror we stuck on the locker. I glanced briefly at my reflection while I grabbed my things. Blonde hair, blue eyes, bangs, and glasses. A small dotting of freckles across my cheeks. I typically wore plainer, paler clothes. I had my mom's old jeans and a cream sweater that still had the stupid stain from the jerk who thought I was apart of the garbage can in the cafeteria. I never felt comfortable wearing flashy clothes, probably why I was hard to spot. Mackenzie rocked her own style, wearing ankle combat boots, black leggings, neon green tank and a white, off-the-shoulder band shirt. She looked cool and confident while my nervous personality showed through when I fiddled with my necklace.
"Stop doing that." Mackenzie rolled her eyes and took my wrist to prevent it from jiggling the music note charm around more. She looked me in the eye. "Today you're going to do it. Repeat after me, today I'm going to do it."
The grip on my hand showed she wasn't kidding.
I heaved a deep breath. "Today I'm going to do it." I echoed.
"Do what?" I turned around to see Ava there. Violent red hair, dyed tips, and stylish, confident demeanour, Ava was everything I was not. She and Karla met us in freshman year and she's been taking high school by storm ever since. Mackenzie's eyes rolled up to the ceiling as the rest of a quad arrived. She didn't exactly like Ava. She tended to rub her the wrong way. Maybe it had some thing to due with Ava telling her that her favourite hat wasn't very stylish.
"The music program." I replied. "You put in a word for me with Ms. Hudson, right?"
Ava winced. "Sorry Si, I totally forgot! I was working on that new song Alicia Carrie released and I lost track of time!"
"Just like you lost track of time last Monday." Mackenzie muttered, her head on the locker.
"I'm really sorry!" Ava ignored the other girl.
"Yeah, I probably distracted her when I accidentally locked myself in the bathroom stall and she had to come get me." Karla added, her huge hazel eyes looking blankly ahead.
We all blinked at her.
"It's fine." I told Ava. It just meant I had to talk to Ms. Hudson myself before the program. That was fine. It was fine. Totally fine. Oh boy, deep breaths.
I glanced at the time. "Gotta get to Foods soon."
"Ooh, say hi to Cole for me." Ava winked teasingly.
I rolled my eyes. "Please, he's to busy lighting the kitchen on fire for me to attempt to talk to him."
Mackenzie snorted. "Send me a picture if he singes Kai's eyebrows again."
"Will do." I turned and shut my locker, making sure the lock was in place before getting swept in the current of bustling students. Once you got in there was no going out. I had to jog to keep in pace, I'm a relatively small person so the quick stride of most of my peers was hard to catch up with. At last I found my way into the correct classroom and quickly sat at my station, making sure I had all I needed.
Cole and Kai were already there. Kai was the most popular boy in school, cocky, flirty, a little bit of an idiot, but he had looks so everyone was all over him. Well except for Isla. Former lone wolf of the school she and Kai have been off and on dating since junior year. Isla was currently flinging pieces of paper at his head while reading a book so I'm unsure if it was the on phase or the off phase.
Cole was second most loved, the typical sporty guy with biceps no teenager ever was able to achieve and a chill attitude. They were also friends with Lloyd Garmadon, previously hated kid who was recently revealed as the green ninja. Thankfully that also meant less attacks on our school because Garmadon turned 'good'. Yay....
My teacher for Foods was Mrs. Myers. A nice women with a cheerful demeanour and great perseverance. You want to hear how I know that? She teaches cooking all through fasting for Ramadan. That's takes great willpower.
After receiving instructions I popped in my earbuds and scrolled through my playlist until I found the one I designated for cooking. There is a flaw with this since my earbuds dragged my phone everywhere they went. At one point when I was attempting to chop the chives for my omelette, the phone slid right off the counter. My ear buds are odd and secured around my ears, so they yanking at my ears as the gravity forced the phone to let go of the plug, keeping the earbuds in.
"JUMP UP, KICK BACK, WHIP AROUND AND SPIN-"
Everyone turned to stare at me.
I felt my face flush as my heart plummeted into my stomach. I hated unnecessary attention. I even hated necessary attention! I scrambled shakily for my device, my thumb slamming at the pause button until it finally turned off.
Silence.
The tension was thick.
The panic was making it hard to breath.
So many pairs of eyes were fixed on me.
I couldn't breath.
No, no, no, no.
Words were being uttered but suddenly I felt like I was under water. The voices were too distant, too echoey.
I can't breath.
I can't breath.
I cant-
Black dots danced over my eyes as I felt my legs give away. I closed my eyes as I crumpled to the ground.
Note*****
Well this went in a different direction.
See, I originally was going to have Siena be punched in the face but I decided I wasn't going to spend so much time thinking of working that in there when the opportunity was right in front of me!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the story. Do you think my writings better than the original version?
Thanks for reading! Please vote if you liked it! If not....do whatever you want I guess.
