Prolouge

"Why are you trying to hide little ones? I only want to play a game." Said a sing song voice. Sally and Harold Janus where running through a forest with their 2 week old children in their arms. The evil sorceress Demada was right on their tails, trying to kill them to collect their magical power and souls to help her become powerful once more. "Harold", Sally said, "we can't outrun her forever we need to cast the spell now." They had gotten to a clearing in the forest and couldn't hear Demada anymore. Harold nodded. They bent over and put a necklace on each of their children. They where meant to be connected together to make a heart. The girl's was like fire kept behind glass and the boy's was like a miniature waterfall in a half heart shape. The parents got up and held hands. Nodding at each other they started chanting a spell in an ancient language. "Oh where have you gone? I just want to play a game. Come back." Harold and Sally looked at each other again with panic on their eyes they chanted faster and soon the spell was done. "There you are!" Demada shrieked, "Are you ready to play now?" The evil sorceress appeared from behind the trees. She was flying on a magic broom. She had a pale face, a blood red cloak and black leather boots. Her eyes where as black as bottomless pits. Her hair was so black it looked a little blue. Harold and Sally said nothing and glared at Demada with cold eyes. "Oh I know." Said Demada as if she hadn't noticed the Janus' cold stares. "Let's play queen. I'll be the queen and you can be the peasants. Now bow down to me" she demanded. She raised a staff from her side that hadn't yet been seen by Harold and Sally. The staff was made out of rose wood and had a large red gem at the top that had a faint glow to it. "How did you get the staff of Abalor?" Sally asked with a hint of fear on her voice. "Oh it wasn't to hard." Demada said matter o factly. "I just killed the owner." Harold was infuriated. The owner of the staff was his father. "How dare you!"He yelled with rage in his voice. A thin layer of white hot flames was starting to cover his body. The effects of his rage. "Oh now don't get to angry." Demada cooed. "It was quick and painless. Unfortunately for you your deaths will be the exact opposite." She pulled out a simple wooden rod and threw it to the ground below her right in front of Sally and Harold. It turned into a green venomous snake as soon as it touched the ground. It hissed and venom dropped from it's fangs. The grass where it had landed was dead and dry. "A basilisk" Sally murmured. " I have some other business to attend to" Demada said. "But have fun with that little snake."
Demada left them and went over to the 2 week old children still laying in the clearing. The girl seemed angry and scared and a small fire was alight on the couple of hairs that where on her head. Meanwhile the boy was seemingly trying to calm her down. "Oh don't worry young one" Demada purred. "Your death will be as quick and painless as your Grandfather's." She laughed manically. Meanwhile Sally and Harold had been battling the the basilisk. Harold had been hit in the stomach with a spray of venom and was now laying on the ground, his breathing quickened. Though he had managed to shoot the basilisk with a pillar of white hot fire and it now lay dead and burned on the dead grass. Sally rushed over to her near dead husband. She grabbed his hand. "Harold your going to be ok I promise you." Sally said quickly and soothingly. "No I'm not."Harold groaned out. "Sally protect the kids. Please." He begged. "I will" Sally said with tears forming in her eyes. "I promise." And with that Harold breathed out his last breath and his friendly green eyes closed for the last time. Sally let out a sob of despair. Then she took a deep breath and stood up. She turned and faced the direction of Demada who was preparing to cast a death spell. She was chanting the words in the same ancient language that Sally and Harold had been only minutes ago. She was pulling the stolen Staff of Abalor, ready to cast. "No!"Sally yelled. She ran in front of the spell and said a quick but powerful protection spell. The spell of death was deflected off of Sally's protection spell. It was absorbed into the shield and it exploded, taking Sally with it. It left Demada and the newborn twins in the clearing. Demada laughed evilly. "It's just you and me. And what are you little nothings going to do to stand up to me." She said a death spell and cast it directly at the twins. But then something happened. A golden shield of magic energy was put up around the twins. The spell was deflected off of the shield and shot back at Demada. She screamed and disappeared in a flash of white light. The babies where left alone for days with no care. A werecat tribe found them and took care of them. They where put up for adoption in a human town nearby but where separated. They hadn't been relieved of their necklaces though. This would be the thing that would bring them together again. This would be the thing that would reunite Jax and Lily Janus, the two most powerful mages in the world.
