An unexpected encounter

Lily's POV
I put the last of the baked goods in the display at the counter. "Good job Lil-Lil", Mr. Maifer said. "Thanks." I stated simply. "Can I go out to the woods? I want to try and find Sachi" Sachi lived in the woods and was an orphan as well. She and I had met when I was 9. We started talking and got along well. She has black hair and eyes that weren't exactly green and weren't exactly blue. Oh. And she's a werecat so she has black cat ears and a tail. "Sure.", Mr. Maifer said, "But wait a second. Isn't it someone's birthday?" I gasped. I can't believe I had forgotten. "I guess it is" I said. "Well then come upstairs with me. I have something for you." He said.
"Ok", I replied. I followed him upstairs to his apartment. I sat in a chair at his oak desk while he went into his closet and pulled out a long mahogany box. He placed it on the desk and undid the leather straps. "Open it." He ordered. I did as he said and opened the box. I gasped as I saw a beautiful bronze sword with a worn leather grip. I could feel magic energy radiating off of it. I carefully picked it up. It wasn't to heavy or to light. It was perfectly balanced. "What does it do?" I asked. "It transforms into a dagger and can radiate the souls element if the user. For example if the user's soul element was earth then the user could use it to their advantage and throw rocks at the opponent using the sword. Or if the user's souls element was water they could spray water from it or encase the sword in water." He explained. I hugged him tightly. "Thank you so so so so much!" I said happily. He laughed. "No problem Lil-Lil. Now go find Sachi like you planned." I nodded and put the sword in the bronze sheath and clipped the sheath to my belt loop. I hurried off to the forest. When I got there I heard a yell, distinctly male, and a low growl. The sound of a hell hound. Not on my watch. I thought. I started towards the sound with my sword drawn. I hope I can get there quick enough.
Jax's POV
I was cornered. A hellhound had found me and I was now backed up to a wall of trees. I looked at the beast with my new knife drawn. The creature had red fur and eyes that glowed orange. It had the same body as a wolf with its perked up ears and a lean body. I couldn't do much good with the knife. If I got close enough then I could stab it and risk getting killed. I could try and dash away and get my back away from the trees so I wasn't cornered. I was fast, but was I fast enough to outrun a hellhound? I dismissed the idea. Then I saw a flash of black and purple. Another monster? But no. This wasn't an monster. The figure stopped at the trees behind the hellhound. She had black hair with a streak of purple, brown leather combat boots, a black leather jacket, an army green tank top, and faded jeans. Her eyes where a sharp green color and her skin was a sort of pale tone. She had a bronze sword drawn. Then all at once she ran forward and attacked the beast. The sword pierced it's back and it turned to dust leaving an orange gem behind. The girl came over. "You okay?" She asked. "I'm alright", I responded, "thanks for saving me." She let out a small laugh. "No problem. But you should probably enchant your knife so that you can expand it into a sword. It gets further reach and would be more helpful in these types of situations. A javelin or spear would be good too." She stated. "Thanks for the tip. I'm Jax"
"Lily" we shook hands. "I guess I'll be seeing you around then Lily."
"Maybe." Then she ran off, quick as a cat. I realized that my amulet had started heating up again. What's up with that? I shook my head and started back towards my house having collected all the ingredients I had set out for.
Lily's POV
After introducing myself to Jax, he had said "I guess I'll be seeing you around then Lily."
My response had been "Maybe" then I had dashed off only just realizing that my amulet was heating up again. Oh my Iska!! What's up with this thing? I continued on. I wanted to work on my story more. I remembered that I had set out to find Sachi when I left. Crap! I guess I'll send her a message when I get back. As I headed back I remembered the orange gem that had dropped from the hellhound earlier. I pulled it out of my pocket. Once a monster was defeated ot dropped loot (sometimes). When a piece of loot is dropped a magic bond is fromed between the loot and the person who defeated the monster. So once the person who defeated the monster gets far away it automatically teleports their pocket or bag unless they had given it to someone else. The gem was small and glowed faintly. It looked like a diamond before it had been polished or shaped. Maybe I could add it to my charm bracelet. I had defeated many monsters who had dropped gems before and I had put them all on a steel wire. When I needed to add a new gem I cut the steel wire then used my magic to mold it back together. When I got back to the bakery I shot Sachi a text then put  my electronics away. I added the new gem to my bracelet and put it away with my electronics and decided the leave my sword here too. I went back to my box home and curled up into a ball on my makeshift bed and fell to sleep. What a day. I should probably find Sachi tomorrow. And who knows? Maybe I'll run into Jax again.
